Focus on fashion and daily outfits
In this interview Romina tells us about the background of her fashion brand “high by honey”, what inspired her to found it and how she dealt with fears during the start-up. In doing so, she shows that getting support and help is not a bad thing at all. FIV: First of all, we would like to thank you again for taking the time for this interview. You started your own brand “high by honey”. What inspired you to start your own fashion brand?
Romina: I started with social media over 10 years ago, before Instagram even existed. My main focus has been fashion and daily outfits since the beginning. Within about two years, I created four collections together with NA-KD. Here, at the latest, it became clear to me that sooner or later I would like to build my own brand with even more freedom of choice. I have realized three collections since 2021 and am already looking forward to all that I still have planned. If all goes well, then the 4th collection goes live this year.
Pressure and fears during the foundation
FIV: Of course, founding your own brand is also associated with a lot of pressure. Did you have fears when founding your brand and if so, how did you deal with them?
Romina: Absolutely. In my head, I already had everything mapped out exactly how the individual processes should look, but putting it all into practice is another matter, especially if you’re not really familiar with the subject of setting up a company. Therefore, I got support for individual areas, such as an independent designer who realizes my ideas on paper, an HTML expert for the coding of the online store or a fulfillment service provider from the 2nd collection for the shipping of orders.

FIV: Since your passion is fashion and you inspire your followers every day with your outfits, we would like to know: What are your top 3 stores where you prefer to buy your clothes?
Romina: ZARA, NA-KD and Weekday.
Romina’s accessory must have: Hoops
FIV: It’s the accessory that makes the outfit complete. If you had to choose one accessory, what would it be and why?
Romina: Big earrings, at best hoops. I find eye-catching earrings draw attention especially to the face.
New home together in Düsseldorf
FIV: Not too long ago you moved to your new home. What was the deciding factor for you?
Romina: My partner started a new job in Düsseldorf. Until then, he had lived in Dortmund and I in Duisburg. After a relationship of 2.5 years, we both wanted to take the step of moving into our first apartment together. Düsseldorf was a compromise, because he didn’t want to move to me in Duisburg and I didn’t want to move to him in Dortmund.
Admire stars from the living room
FIV: What is your favorite room in your new home and why?
Romina: Our living room. The ceiling here is several meters high and when you look up from the windows you have a beautiful view of the sky. In the evening you can even see stars. Our lounger made of teddy fur is perfect for this 😉
