GNTM Season 1 (2006): Winner, Contestants – Lena Gercke, Janina Ortmann & Lena Meier

GNTM season 1 – 2006 started probably the most famous model casting show on German television: Germany’s Next Topmodel. Since then, Heidi Klum has been looking for Germany’s best up-and-coming model every year. In the first season, the jury consisted of Armin Morbach, Peyman Amin and Bruce Darnell and Heidi Klum. Out of over 11000 applicants, only 32 were invited to the pre-selection and 12 made it to the next round. The show lasted for 9 episodes. Of the 12 women, three made it to the finals. These lucky ones were Lena Gercke, Yvonne Schroeder and Jennifer Wanderer. The winner of the season was Lena Gercke, who is still very successful today. Winner Season 1: Lena Gercke

After a long time of worrying and thinking about who would be the first Germany’s Next Topmodel, Lena Gercke finally won. Her victory earned her a small car, a contract with the model agency IMG and Face your Brand. She also made the cover of the German Cosmopolitan. Lena is still super successful today: Lena Gercke is not only active as a model, she has already been seen in the German GQ, among other things, but now also as a presenter on the ProSieben casting show The Voice of Germany. In addition, the multi-talent has founded her own fashion brand Leger, where she sells sustainable and high-quality fashion.

Every year, Heidi Klum searches for Germany’s new top model with guest judges from various fields such as styling, photography, and coaching. Young women from all over Germany compete for the title Germanys next Topmodel. They have to prove themselves during the season in shootings and castings.
