Louis Vuitton as the first expensive handbag

FIV: Nice to chat with you Olesja! You have a certain love for your handbags, is there one that is particularly close to your heart?

Olesja: I treasure my very first Louis Vuitton handbag the most. I watched it on Pinterest and all kinds of social media platforms for a very long time. I really wanted it because I thought it was really beautiful and it was a goal for me to be able to treat myself to this handbag one day.

When it actually happened, I was very proud. Even though I’m no longer the biggest fan of the brand, the bag is very special to me. Another bag that is close to my heart is the Chanel bag (my only one so far). This one is also very special because it was also an investment and because a Chanel handbag is simply something special. And because I consider the brand to be very high up among all the top designers.

This bag just looks perfect on me. I can really identify with it and I’m very proud of how far I’ve come to be able to afford a bag like this.

Vintage bags – sustainable designer shopping

FIV: Would vintage designer handbags also be an option for you?

Olesja: In theory, I think it’s very, very good. The sustainability aspect behind it is wonderful. I’m very much in favor of it and think it’s great. It doesn’t age classic fashion. It always looks beautiful & is always in demand. The older the fashion is, the more it is appreciated.

Vintage is currently out of the question for me. I haven’t acquired a taste for it yet. Maybe that will change one day. I’m currently buying new bags so that I’m the first owner of the bag. That simply has a special meaning for me.

As a mom, diapers sometimes hide in the handbag

FIV: Have you ever found anything unexpected or curious in your handbag?

Olesja: I’m a very tidy person and always know what’s in my handbag. I’m very minimalist and like to have an overview of everything.

However, as I had to transport pancakes somehow and only had my handbag available, I had to carry them in it. It was very funny because it didn’t fit together at all.

And even as a young mom, I occasionally had to take a fresh diaper with me. Then it can also happen that a fresh and used diaper turns up in a fancy handbag.

A backpack just doesn’t suit my style

FIV: As a mom, the perfect handbag also has to be very practical – do you prioritize functionality or aesthetics?

Olesja: Definitely functionality, because that’s my disposition too. I’m more the practical type … my star sign is Virgo. I just love order & structure and that things are practical & useful. That’s why I value functionality, but I think that goes hand in hand with aesthetics.

For me, for example, a backpack is out of the question because it doesn’t suit my style. Of course, the backpack is a 10/10 in terms of functionality, but it doesn’t suit me. That’s why aesthetics take precedence over functionality.

I first choose a bag for its aesthetics and then check its functionality before deciding whether to buy it or not.

Handbag organizer for a good overview

I think handbag organizers are really good

FIV: Most bags don’t have as many compartments as backpacks, so it’s easy to lose track – there are now handbag organizers, what do you think of them?

Olesja: If you carry particularly large bags, I find this very helpful. Especially if you carry and organize half your life in your bag, it’s just a wonderful idea. I think you can recommend it to everyone.

Most large handbags are cut in such a way that they only have a large interior. You look inside and everything piles up on top of each other, which is why I think the organizers are really good.

I usually tend to carry smaller bags and, as I mentioned at the beginning, I always have a good overview of my contents and that’s why there’s no mess. But I’m not averse to it in itself.

Simple or eye-catching? Both are possible!

FIV: Do you prefer a plain black dress or a striking design?

Olesja: I’m a more classic/elegant type of person, so the black bag is an option for me because I can use it more. I would invest more in this bag because I know I will wear it a lot.

But it depends on the person’s individual style. If someone dresses very plain & monochrome, no patterns, then I think this person could dare to wear color & pattern to make the look more exciting.

FIV: So in your opinion, it’s better to wear a black dress if it’s conspicuous?

Olesja: If your closet is very colorful, exciting, with lots of textures and different cuts, then I think it’s important to have very clear, classic handbags that aren’t also exciting to balance out the look. It all depends on your individual style. Having a bit of both is certainly not a bad thing either.

The perfect watch? Look, quality, technology … Price

FIV: Hi Donato, you have a great taste in watches, what qualities does a watch need to have to appeal to you?

Donato: First and foremost, a watch simply has to look good for me. If that’s the case, then things like quality or technology come into play – but these points are also related to the price of the watch.

With a luxury watch like a Rolex, it’s not just the exterior that has to be right, but also the inner values – after all, you don’t buy something that special every day. With a comparatively inexpensive Swatch, on the other hand, looks are the only criterion for me to like a watch and add it to my collection.

Rolex Submariner and Breitling Navitimer: classics for decades

FIV: And what features make a watch a timeless classic?

Donato: First and foremost, it’s the design. Many well-known watches such as the Rolex Submariner or the Breitling Navitimer have been around since the early 1950s. Although their appearance has been slightly adapted to today’s wearing habits and they have modern technology, the basic design is still essentially the same as it was back then. The most popular and best-known watches have a certain durability and can look back on an exciting history.

Speedmaster “Moonwatch”: 6 moon landings later

The Omega Speedmaster “Moonwatch”, for example, not only has an iconic design that has remained virtually unchanged since the late 1960s, but has also been used as the official watch of Nasa on all manned space missions and has 6 moon landings behind it.

FIV: Do you sometimes go for trends with your watches or do you stay true to the classics?

Donato Emilio: I am generally open to everything. Watches should be fun and everyone should wear the watch they like best. That’s why I would certainly indulge in trends if I liked the watch, why not? At a concert or a party, I would rather wear a cool, casual Swatch than a typical classic.

FIV: I’m just assuming you’re also a Rolex fan? How is it that it is the most coveted watch brand on the market?

Donato: Yes, I am a big fan of Rolex watches. There is no one reason why the brand is so popular. It’s certainly the poor availability and the fact that you can’t just walk into a Rolex store, plunk down a few bills and walk out with your dream watch on your arm. This makes the brand highly sought after, but there is more. The designs are timeless and with watches such as the Submariner, the Datejust, the Day-Date and the Daytona, Rolex has some of the greatest watch icons of all time. Rolex sets trends like no other watch brand.

Rolex comes with the complete package!

Let’s take the Submariner: it is the most replicated and copied watch in the world, which is no coincidence. In addition, the quality and feel of the watches is great, they not only look good, they also feel flawless when you interact with them. There are more exclusive and also more expensive watch brands in the watch world, but Rolex is the perfect mass product and offers the best complete package.

In my opinion, there is no right or wrong!

FIV: We can already guess what you’re going to say, but we’d like to ask you again: do you prefer your watch to be slim or flashy and pompous?

Donato: In my eyes, there is no right or wrong and no rules as to what a high-quality watch should be like. I can get something out of all watches. But if I had to choose, I would go for a jewelry watch rather than a “tool watch”. If you’re going to fulfill your dream of owning a luxury watch, you can have a little bit of sparkle and glitter – but everyone should decide that for themselves.

FIV: Right, everyone as they like it! Thank you for the great overview you were able to give us of the watch market. The clock is ticking, we don’t want to take any more of your time, because it’s more precious than any Rolex!

Guess, Chanel and Hermés as investments

FIV: Hello Tara, you have often presented your beautiful bag collection on YouTube, if your handbag had a soundtrack, what music would best represent it?

Tara: Uh, I listen to a lot of different genres, but my handbag would definitely be accompanied by a gentle yet powerful piano piece that exudes elegance and sophistication. Maybe something by Ludovico Einaudi.

FIV: Whether it’s Liebeskind, Guess or Chanel makes a difference in terms of price – do you prefer to go for the most expensive brand or does it matter if it’s a designer piece?

Tara: Neither and for me the story behind each piece is the focus. Although I take the price into account, the quality and design is more important to me than the price. I like to invest in timeless designer pieces like Chanel and Hermés, which are not only a fashion accessory but also an investment.

Staples & order in the bag household

FIV: You’ve probably noticed that handbag organizers are becoming more and more popular – are they helpful or rather useless knick-knacks?

Tara: I find handbag organizers practical, especially for larger bags or tote bags. They help keep my bag organized and make it easier to find items. They also protect the lining of my expensive designer bags from scratches or stains, which could be important for the future of the bag!

FIV: Do you prefer plain black or do you sometimes go for eye-catching designs?

Tara: My taste varies depending on the occasion and mood. While I often go for a plain black handbag in everyday life, I love to impress with an eye-catching designer piece at special events or evening occasions. A touch of color or an unusual pattern can give an outfit a very special touch.

FIV: And if you had to choose between chic and practical – which would you choose?

Tara: Both aspects are equally important to me. A handbag not only has to look good and complement my outfit, it also has to be functional. There has to be room for my essentials and if it has practical details such as inside pockets or an adjustable shoulder strap, then I like to carry my bags crossbody. But it also depends on whether I’m traveling with my little son or on my own.

FIV: Finally, do you have any tips for readers on how to find the perfect handbag?

Tara: Be clear about what you will mainly use the handbag for, whether for everyday wear, special occasions or both. Invest in timeless designer pieces that represent you and your style and don’t chase trends. Think about classic shapes and colors that can be combined in many ways, such as the Chanel 2.55 Flap Bag.

A handbag should not only look beautiful, but also be comfortable and practical, so try out different models and pay attention to details such as material and workmanship. Stay true to yourself and you’ll be happy to carry your bag every time!

Philipp Plein’s story: founding the company

Fashion designer Philipp Plein was born in Munich on February 16, 1978. Alongside the legend Karl Lagerfeld, he is one of the most successful and well-known designers in Germany and it is hard to imagine the fashion industry without him. He has definitely made a name for himself with his unusual pieces, and his pieces are recognizable at first glance!

In 1998, he founded his company International AG, which is now based in Switzerland. Before that, Plein studied law, but he didn’t seem to want to do that in the long term! He started designing furniture and then bags and accessories. In 2003, he was given the opportunity to design the lounge for Moet & Chandon at the German CPD trade fair in Düsseldorf. There he took his chance and sold his accessories, which he designed from old leather, for the first time.

Philipp Plein: As conceited as they always say?

He is known for his many tattoos, his well-trained body and his swanky watch! But is that all he has to offer?

Plein has always been a “dreamer”: he always wanted to aim high and realize his dreams – that was and is his greatest motivation. Many interpret his single-minded attitude as arrogance. Plein explains what you should bear in mind with his “strategy”:

“You always have to be able to dream new dreams. I always try to achieve one dream after another. But I know that dreams are never as beautiful in reality as they are in fantasy. Once you understand that, you can deal with it well.”

He also sees a lot of potential in his brand. For him, this is just the beginning. Despite this attitude, he – together with his team – is very realistic. They seem to know how much room for improvement there is: and a lot of it, according to Plein himself! He knows exactly when he can launch something on the market – he says it’s always when people aren’t expecting it. He stands for unusual fashion where there is a lot going on! Plein rarely talks about himself alone as a brand. For him, the brand means his team, not a single person:

Battle for son Romeo Prince: reunion after four years

Philipp Plein spent four years fighting for his little son Romeo Prince, who is now seven years old. The child’s mother (Fernanda Rigon) took him to her home country of Brazil in 2014 to keep him away from his father. Plein fought against her with numerous lawyers – to no avail! He only wanted his son to experience one thing: a mother and father who could look after him and give him a stable family life. After four years, this battle finally seems to be over and he can finally hold his son in his arms again!

Plein in love: this is his girlfriend

Girlfriend Lucia Bartoli is always by his side everywhere he goes: whether in Cannes, Lugano or New York – there are three places he calls home! Ever since he finally introduced her to the public, she has never left his side! In an interview, when asked what she does for a living, Lucia replies that she is a “full-time girlfriend”! I wonder if Plein likes to hear such an answer in an interview with his girlfriend!

Numerous surprises

Plein likes to surprise his sweetheart “here and there”: whether at home or on an airplane – the two of them seem to be on cloud nine everywhere! Despite his tight schedule, he likes to make time for his girlfriend.

“I try to surprise them as often as possible.”

Lucia adores her designer boyfriend and says she misses him when they are apart. In an interview with RTL, the two claim that their “love secret” is that they are stuck together and it’s funny when they are apart – if that’s not an unusual attitude!

Participation in GNTM: jobs, shoots and walks

Dascha took her first step into the world of modeling on Heidi Klum’s well-known casting show. As you could already see in the first episode of GNTM, Heidi was a big fan of Dascha’s personality and type right from the start. The fashion world is changing and becoming more and more realistic, which is why Dasha’s curves in particular fit perfectly into this change. With her charisma, open nature and type, Dascha was able to land numerous jobs during the show for various clients such as Kilian Kerner, andmetics & Invisibobble.

FIV: Why did you apply for GNTM? Was it always your dream to take part in this format? What motivated you to take part?

Dascha: I’ve always wanted to take part in GNTM. Ever since I was little, I wanted to leave a footprint. And I managed to do that.

FIV: You’ve come quite far now. How do you think you stand out from other models and what makes you special as a model?

Dasha: I am different because I reflect reality. I show that it’s normal to have a bit of flab or stretch marks. No one is perfect.

FIV: How did your environment, your family and friends, react to your participation in GNTM? Were you supported right from the start or was there criticism?

Dasha: I was supported from all sides right from the start.

Modeling industry: Dasha’s life as a model & more

Dasha has always wanted to be a model and has always aspired to apply for GNTM one day. Especially as a beginner and newcomer to the industry, it’s not always easy and you have to adapt. We spoke to Dascha about her biggest role model and her dream job. She also told us how best to present yourself to a client and what to look out for, especially as a newcomer.

Beginnings, dream jobs & tips for newcomers: What is there to know?

FIV: Did you always want to be a model or did you have a different career aspiration? What was your dream job when you were a child?

Dasha: I wanted to be either a model or a policewoman.

FIV: Do you have a role model? Especially in the modeling business/ in the fashion world and why is it exactly this person? What inspires you most about this person?

Dasha: My biggest role model is my mom. She is so strong and funny and has the most beautiful character.

FIV: What does a model’s working day look like? Tell us about a typical day for you. When does it start and how do you start the day? What tasks do you have to do and when do you finish work?

Dascha: It’s difficult to say because I’m still “new” to the business.

FIV: What would be your dream job as a model? Is there a particular client you would like to work for or is there a particular show you would like to appear in?

Dasha: I want to work with those who also represent me.

FIV: In your opinion, what qualities are particularly important for a model? Do you have any tips for newcomers? What should they look out for?

Dasha: You shouldn’t complain. I wouldn’t put on airs and graces. We’re all just people, whether we’re celebrities or not. That’s why you should respect everyone.

Dasha in private: her best qualities & goals for the future

Throughout the show, we got to know Dasha as a very open and particularly cheerful and outgoing person. You can tell that she is good with people and can also sell herself well. These are very important qualities for a model, especially at castings. Even after the show, Dascha sees herself at the beginning of her career and has big goals in this business!

FIV: Tell our readers something about yourself. For example, what are your best and worst qualities? Do you have a certain habit that bothers or annoys you?

Dasha: Well, I’m a very kind person. I always listen to others and am always there for them. I’m down-to-earth and I’ll always stay that way.

FIV: What goals have you set yourself for the future? Where would you like to be in a few years, both professionally and privately?

Dasha: I definitely want to make it big. I want to continue to be a fly-by and leave even more footprints

Monday: Fashion Week Start

On Monday, July 10, we start with the fashion show by BOBKOVA at Kronprinzenpalais. This show is presented by Berlin Contemporary and promises an insight into the latest developments in Berlin fashion.

This will be followed by the presentation of MELISA MINCA at PLATTE.Berlin, followed by LUCAS MEYER LECLERE at Kühlhaus Berlin. These two shows are also part of Berlin Contemporary and will surely present impressive designs and creations.

In the evening, the show of ODEEH awaits us, the exact venue of which is yet to be announced. This brand is also part of Berlin Contemporary and promises a captivating performance.

Tuesday: Shows, shows, shows!

On Tuesday, July 11, more exciting shows are on the schedule. We start with PODYH at Kronprinzenpalais, followed by Marcel Ostertag at Verti Music Hall. Both shows are part of W.E4.FASHION DAY and are sure to offer innovative designs and exciting fashion. LITKOVSKA will be presented at Kraftwerk Berlin, while REBEKKA RUÉTZ will once again perform at Verti Music Hall. There will also be a special show by the graduate students of the Academy of Fashion & Design and Hanover at the Alte Münze Berlin.

In the afternoon we have the opportunity to visit the shows of MY FASSBENDER and ATELIER CHARDON SAVARD at the Alte Münze Berlin. These two shows are part of NEO.FASHION and showcase the talents of emerging designers. The show continues with KILIAN KERNER BERLIN at Verti Music Hall, followed by RICHERT BEIL at Leibnitzstraße and DANNY REINKE again at Verti Music Hall.

In the evening, there will be a joint show by graduate students from Pforzheim University and HTW Berlin at the Alte Münze Berlin. Also MILK OF LIME presents its collection at the Zeiss Major Planetarium, while RIANNA + NINA can be seen at the Alte Nationalgalerie.

The final shows of the day will be presented by graduate students from Bielefeld, Hamburg and Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences at the Alte Münze Berlin. The evening will close with WILLIAM FAN’s show “In Partnership with Mercedes-Benz”, whose venue is yet to be announced. Finally, there will be the show of SIA ARNIKA at Havel Studios.

Wednesday: The grand finale (almost)

On Wednesday, July 12, the “GUEST OF NEO.FASHION “3D VIRTUAL FASHION CONTEST” is scheduled at the Alte Münze Berlin. This event offers an innovative and virtual presentation of fashion.

The show continues with ACCEPTANCE LETTER STUDIO at Studio Cherie and Collective Show 1 – Aspiring Designer at Alte Münze Berlin. The brand MARKE presents its collection at Weserstraße, followed by the show of DZHUS at Feuerle Collection and ANJA GOCKEL at Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin.

The Berlin Fashion Week will close with shows by ESTHER PERBANDT at AchtBerlin, Collective Show 2 – Aspiring Designer at Alte Münze Berlin, AVENIR at St. Elisabeth Church and SF1OG at Ludwig Erhard Haus.
