The starting shot: first the men, then the women

Season 21 breaks with tradition right from the start. On February 11, 2026, the show started on ProSieben with the men’s casting. One day later, on February 12, the women followed. Both episodes showed the open casting in Cologne, with Jean Paul Gaultier sitting next to Heidi in the jury chair.

Men on Wednesdays, women on Thursdays. GNTM 2026 airs twice a week at 8:15 pm on ProSieben and Joyn.

The title song “Red Eye”, produced by DJ Diplo and sung by Heidi Klum herself, sets the tone for a season that focuses on speed and surprises right from the start.

The final takes place in Los Angeles

Probably the biggest innovation: for the first time in 21 seasons, the final will not take place in Germany. Instead, the finalists will travel to Los Angeles, Heidi’s adopted home. What’s more, the final will not be broadcast live, but pre-recorded. A novelty that is already causing discussion in the GNTM community.

The candidates: 27 women between 18 and 54

The age range alone tells a story. From 18-year-old Sophie from Cologne to 54-year-old Ursula from Ascona in Switzerland, who wants to prove that fashion has no expiry date. In between: 25 other women from Germany, Austria and Switzerland who all have one thing in common, the dream of a big breakthrough.

If you thought the women’s squad was diverse, then you haven’t seen the men yet. Gerhard (57) from Bad Aibling is the oldest contestant GNTM has ever had, a graphic designer who proves that the catwalk knows no age. At the other end of the spectrum: Benji (20), chef and GNTM dreamer. And then there’s Tony (31), Fashion Sales Advisor from Berlin, who is deaf and sees his hearing loss as a strength.

Two crowns, one historic evening

The final on June 13, 2024 delivered what fans had been hoping for since the announcement: goosebump moments across the board. Lea came out on top in the women’s competition, Jermaine in the men’s. Both received 100,000 euros in prize money and the cover of the German Harper’s Bazaar.

Lea and Jermaine are the first double winners in the history of Germany’s Next Topmodel.

It was the first time that two winners were chosen at a GNTM final. The moment when Heidi Klum awarded the winning titles to both at the same time will be remembered by many viewers for a long time to come.

Men on the GNTM catwalk: from experiment to success

There were plenty of skeptics when ProSieben presented the new concept. Would viewers go along with it? Would the dynamic between men and women work in a show that had been all-female for 18 years? The answer: yes. The mixed dynamic brought a breath of fresh air, new rivalries and unexpected friendships. An average of 2.4 million viewers watched the season each week.

The new theme song, recorded by Heidi Klum together with DJ Tiësto, underlined the dawn of a new era. The casting was open to all genders for the first time, with height and weight no longer officially playing a role.

The final: Seven models, two titles

In the grand final, seven finalists faced each other who could not have been more different:

• Xenia (2nd place) – Strong personality who fought to the end
• Fabienne (3rd place) – fan favorite with exceptional catwalk presence

• Julian & Luka (3rd place) – The twins provided one of the most unforgettable moments of the season

What made this season special

Season 19 was more than just a casting show. It was a statement. For the first time in the history of GNTM, men and women competed in the same show, fought for the same title and shared the same house. The decision to open up the format was long overdue and showed that fashion does not adhere to gender boundaries.

• Tracy’s comeback: The contestant from season 18 was given a second chance and showed that perseverance pays off
• Diversity as a program: no size limits, no weight limits, all genders welcome
• The twins: Julian and Luka brought a unique dynamic to the game that had never been seen before

Daniela: 20 years young, 20th season, 1st place

There are coincidences that feel like fate. Daniela, just 20 years old, won the 20th anniversary season of GNTM of all things. It was clear from the very first casting: this young woman has something that goes beyond photogenicity and catwalk talent. A calmness in front of the camera that some models spend their whole lives searching for.

Winning the 20th season at the age of 20. Sometimes life writes the best stories.

After her victory, Daniela walked directly at Berlin Fashion Week, a clear sign that her career is only just beginning.

Moritz: The title goes to… to a 19-year-old

Moritz (19) came out on top in the men’s category. What began in the previous season with Jermaine, found its logical continuation in Moritz: young men who don’t see modeling as a side job, but as a serious career path. Moritz brought with him a mixture of ambition and naturalness that won over both the jury and the audience.

The finale of superlatives

On June 19, 2025, the last six models of the anniversary season gathered for the big showdown. The finale on ProSieben at 8:15 p.m. was an emotional look back at 20 years of GNTM, peppered with the latest catwalk battles.

• 2nd place: Magdalena (21) – On a par until the last walk
• 3rd place: Zoe (19) – Young, wild and with enormous potential

Anniversary also means looking back

What made the 20th season different from its predecessors was the deliberate look back. ProSieben took the opportunity to review the greatest moments from two decades of GNTM. From Lena Gercke’s iconic win in 2006 to the era of great judges such as Thomas Hayo and Michael Michalsky and the opening up to male models in season 19.

The format proved once again that it can constantly reinvent itself without losing its core: The search for the next big face of the German fashion world.

Here is a small game tutorial for the Topmodel Bingo game in the FIV app:

1. Start the Topmodel Bingo game in the FIV app.
2. The app automatically generates a game card for you with a selection of 16 randomly chosen top model terms.
3. The game begins and the terms are called at random.
4. Mark the called terms on your game card by clicking on the corresponding boxes.
5. Once you have marked four terms in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal row, shout “Bingo!” and win the game!
6. When another player shouts “Bingo!” the game ends and the winner is announced.
7. If no one calls out “Bingo!” after 25 terms have been called out, the game ends and the player with the most marked squares wins.

Summer statement in the middle of Cologne

Hot, bold, unstoppable: Heidi Klum appears on the 84 square meter mural in a light blue “Shiny Satin” bikini – flawless, photorealistic, a real eye-catcher. The work of art was created in just four days directly on the wall of a building in Cologne’s Friesenviertel district. By the way, we were already there for you at the Calzedonia store opening, you can find it here: Calzedonia Store Opening Cologne, with Rebecca Mir and others.

Blue, shiny and larger than life – the new mural shows Heidi Klum in a bikini from the current Calzedonia “Shiny Satin” campaign.

In just four days, artist MaCChine and the creative collective CC Allstars painted the 84 m² work of art on the wall of the building – completely freehand.

A performance with star power

On the day of the unveiling, Heidi Klum appeared in person. In a denim-on-denim look with a light blue bikini, she posed radiantly in front of the mural. Relaxed, in a good mood and all Heidi, she took the opportunity to sign her oversized image with a spray can in her hand – to applause, a flurry of flashbulbs and shouts of “Heidi!”, of course.

Since her breakthrough in 2011, Rebecca Mir has been an integral part of the German media landscape. She has proven it: You don’t have to win to shine. As runner-up on GNTM, she was even more successful than the winner at the time, Jana Beller – thanks to her charisma, discipline and genuine talent.

Here, Massimo Sinató reveals what makes her a wonderful mom

Private life with heart – Rebecca & Massimo

There was a crackle on “Let’s Dance” in 2012. Rebecca as a celebrity contestant, Massimo Sinató as her dance partner. “We were already sizzling during Let’s Dance,” Massimo later revealed. Flirtation turned into love – despite obstacles at the time. In August 2012, they made their relationship public.

Wedding & family happiness: A couple with history

They married in Sicily in 2015 and their first son was born in 2021. Since then, Rebecca has shown herself to be a loving mother – approachable but never too private. Her family life remains protected but honest. The two are still considered one of the most likeable celebrity couples in Germany.

“Yes, Massimo and I are together,” Rebecca told BUNTE at the time. Their love grew despite the flashbulbs and press pressure. Today, they celebrate appearances, vacations and successes together – at eye level and with a lot of respect for each other.

From Aachen into the media world

Rebecca was born in Aachen on December 23, 1991. Her mother is German and her father is from Afghanistan. She dreamed of modeling from a young age – she even trained as a model alongside school. She left secondary school to take part in GNTM – but later wanted to catch up on her A-levels.

Diligence, fitness & focus

Rebecca is considered ambitious and disciplined – even in everyday life. She works out regularly, dances standard with Massimo and loves exercise. “Squats are my secret tip,” she revealed in an interview with Cosmopolitan. So it’s no wonder that she’s still in top form years after GNTM.

A career without scandals

Whether Fashion Week or TV studio – Rebecca impresses with her professionalism without bending over backwards. Instead of constant influencing, she concentrates on real jobs: TV shows, presenting, selected campaigns. Her success? Authentic and constant.

From the practice to the catwalk

Jacky Wruck took the plunge in her career by winning the 15th season of GNTM, and with great success, as she was able to turn this dream into a sustainable career. As a content creator on Instagram, she shares her beautiful snapshots as well as insights into her everyday life, including her sports and skiing routine, but also how she is passionate about animal welfare and spends time with her own horses. In the interview, Jacky tells us more about her life in the public eye, tips for anyone dreaming of becoming a model and her TV appearance in high diving.

GNTM, acting and the modeling world

FIV: Tell me Jacky, when did you actually realize that you wanted to become a model, or was it always your dream? Was it a moment or a development over the years?

Jacky: It’s been a dream of mine to be in front of the camera professionally for as long as I can remember.

I always loved fashion as a child, getting changed four times a day, standing in front of every camera or experimenting with nail polish. In fact, being in front of the camera was always a bit more my thing than the catwalk, which I nevertheless learned to love.

And then it was up to me: at the end of my youth, would I dare to pursue the courageous dream or go down the path of working with animals, which also had its great appeal. But for now, I wanted and still want to be brave and try something that some people advise against.

FIV: GNTM was a decisive stage in your life – tell me, what’s Heidi like behind the scenes, did you have much contact with her?

Jacky: We had regular contact with Heidi, but not all the time or “a lot”. Nevertheless, I had the opportunity to get to know Heidi. As a person and not just as a model and entertainer.

It’s nice to realize every time that we are all cut from a similar cloth. We all have this place that shapes our private lives. Heidi placed a lot of emphasis on this. She had often mentioned that it was important to protect your private life and spend as much time as possible with your loved ones. To be there. To exist as a person and not just as a public figure.

FIV: Is there anything that surprised you in the real fashion world or that you didn’t expect during your time on GNTM?

Jacky: Nothing really surprised me. I was mentally prepared for a few things, but it’s still something completely different when you experience everything live. This statement refers to both the good and the bad sides of the industry.

FIV: You have also ventured into the world of acting – how is that similar to modeling, if you can compare it at all?

Jacky: There are parallels, but the differences definitely outweigh the differences. Acting is a completely different craft and explores different artistic themes. A very exciting topic, if you ask me.

High diving experiences & veterinary practice memories

FIV: You were also recently seen on the RTL high diving competition – how did you like that?

Jacky: I love challenges, learning new skills and meeting new people whose stories inspire me. The high dive was one of those extreme experiences. I would have liked to have presented other jumps, but life is only sometimes a concert of wishes. I really surpassed myself during this time and am already looking forward to the next challenges.

FIV: Do you miss the time when you worked at your parents’ veterinary practice and if so, what?

Jacky: No, I don’t miss that time. Sometimes I look back melancholically on the time when I wasn’t in the public eye, because the pressure – which I naturally put on myself – didn’t exist in that way. I am grateful for the experiences I had in this important profession as a veterinary assistant, but I am currently experiencing a different phase of my life – for which I am just as grateful in a different way.

Rebecca Mir, known for her elegant style, hosted the evening in a stunning white ensemble. The store, decorated in a tropical style, offered an inviting and modern atmosphere that perfectly matched the new collections. The exterior of the store, adorned with colorful decorations, was a real eye-catcher and attracted numerous passers-by.

The new Calzedonia campaign, which has been on show throughout Germany since May 17, was celebrated in style on Friday. Rebecca Mir was joined by testimonials Xenia and Kadidja as well as other GNTM participants such as Lea, Jana and Lydwine. The cheerful models posed for photos, gave interviews and celebrated with the guests.

Interactive experiences at the Calzedonia store opening in Cologne

The event offered visitors a variety of interactive experiences. At a meet & greet, fans were able to meet Rebecca Mir, Xenia and Kadidja in person, take a selfie and get autographs. There was also a large selection of beachwear styles from Calzedonia to discover, special shopping offers and refreshing iced coffee from Emmi Caffè Latte.
