The beginning of Heidi’s career

The internationally sought-after German model Heidi Klum originally comes from Bergisch Gladbach. Heidi’s father was initially a production manager in a perfume factory until he founded the model agency “One eins fab” in honor of his daughter’s success. Klum’s mother, on the other hand, was a hairdresser. Heidi graduated from a comprehensive school in her home town in 1992.

Model ’92’ was the name of Thomas Gottschalk’s show at the time, in which 25,000 girls had to compete to become a model. Back then, the modeling profession was not as well known as it is today; even Heidi still didn’t know that “being a model” was a real profession at the time.

But modeling was not her only hobby; Heidi was also very interested in fashion at a young age. Now she was faced with a choice: she could either start training as a fashion designer in Düsseldorf or try to build a career as a model. Thanks to her success on Thomas Gottschalk’s TV show, the blonde thought her chances as an aspiring model were excellent. How do you think Heidi decided?

hen she was just 19 years old, she won a 300,000 US dollar contract as a model for three years. After graduating from high school, she moved to the United States in 1993.

As you’ve probably already guessed, Heidi decided to give modeling a chance. To actively support her budding career, Klum moved to the United States to New York after graduating from high school, at just 19 years old. Five years later it happened; Heidi landed a job as a Victoria Secret Angel after appearing on the cover of the American magazine Sports Illustrated. As a campaign face for various companies such as Birkenstock, Douglas and even McDonalds, Heidi made a name for herself. Soon everyone knew her and she was a role model for all the young girls out there who also wanted to realize their dream as a model.

Germany’s next Topmodel, DSDS & America’s Got Talent

Germany’s Next Topmodel, DSDS, America’s Got Talent, Project Runway, Making the Cut etc., Heidi Klum is not only seen on catwalks, but also on TV. Since 2006, she has appeared on television every year to choose Germany’s new top model. As you can see, Heidi is not only in demand as an international model, she also devotes a large part of her life to numerous TV shows, her own collections and, of course, her family.

But that’s not all, Heidi has received many awards over the years, such as the Bambi or the Emmy, which put her unique career in the spotlight. Your casting show “Germany’s next Topmodel”

At 1.76m, Heidi Klum is not one of the tallest models today. For her own casting show “Germany’s next Topmodel”, which is broadcast on ProSieben, the requirements are to be at least 1.76m tall and 16 years old. The 48-year-old has been choosing the most beautiful girl in Germany every year for 13 years. The first girl to win the casting show was Lena Gercke. A season always consists of 15-16 episodes in which the girls have to complete a wide variety of tasks.

Your private life: Wedding & children

Such a beautiful, successful woman, but no man at her side? Quite the opposite: at the age of 20, Heidi Klum married hairdresser Ric Pipino. After five years, however, the marriage broke down and the two divorced. During a brief relationship with Flavio Briatore, Heidi became pregnant for the first time. She had her first daughter, followed by the divorce and the typical, private little dramas about moving out, moving house and selling the house after the divorce. At the age of 32, Heidi Klum gave married life another chance and married Seal, with whom she had three children, who adopted her first daughter and from whom she took the surname Samuel.

FIV: Why did you apply for GNTM? Was it always your dream to take part in this format? What motivated you to take part?

Dascha: I’ve always wanted to take part in GNTM. Ever since I was little, I wanted to leave a footprint. And I managed to do that.

FIV: You’ve come quite far now. How do you think you stand out from other models and what makes you special as a model?

Dasha: I am different because I reflect reality. I show that it’s normal to have a bit of flab or stretch marks. No one is perfect.

FIV: How did your environment, your family and friends, react to your participation in GNTM? Were you supported right from the start or was there criticism?

Dasha: I was supported from all sides right from the start.

Modeling industry: Dasha’s life as a model & more

Dasha has always wanted to be a model and has always aspired to apply for GNTM one day. Especially as a beginner and newcomer to the industry, it’s not always easy and you have to adapt. We spoke to Dascha about her biggest role model and her dream job. She also told us how best to present yourself to a client and what to look out for, especially as a newcomer.

Beginnings, dream jobs & tips for newcomers: What is there to know?

FIV: Did you always want to be a model or did you have a different career aspiration? What was your dream job when you were a child?

Dasha: I wanted to be either a model or a policewoman.

FIV: Do you have a role model? Especially in the modeling business/ in the fashion world and why is it exactly this person? What inspires you most about this person?

Dasha: My biggest role model is my mom. She is so strong and funny and has the most beautiful character.

FIV: What does a model’s working day look like? Tell us about a typical day for you. When does it start and how do you start the day? What tasks do you have to do and when do you finish work?

Dascha: It’s difficult to say because I’m still “new” to the business.

FIV: What would be your dream job as a model? Is there a particular client you would like to work for or is there a particular show you would like to appear in?

Dasha: I want to work with those who also represent me.

FIV: In your opinion, what qualities are particularly important for a model? Do you have any tips for newcomers? What should they look out for?

Dasha: You shouldn’t complain. I wouldn’t put on airs and graces. We’re all just people, whether we’re celebrities or not. That’s why you should respect everyone.

Dasha in private: her best qualities & goals for the future

Throughout the show, we got to know Dasha as a very open and particularly cheerful and outgoing person. You can tell that she is good with people and can also sell herself well. These are very important qualities for a model, especially at castings. Even after the show, Dascha sees herself at the beginning of her career and has big goals in this business!

FIV: Tell our readers something about yourself. For example, what are your best and worst qualities? Do you have a certain habit that bothers or annoys you?

Dasha: Well, I’m a very kind person. I always listen to others and am always there for them. I’m down-to-earth and I’ll always stay that way.

FIV: What goals have you set yourself for the future? Where would you like to be in a few years, both professionally and privately?

Dasha: I definitely want to make it big. I want to continue to be a fly-by and leave even more footprints

“Out of the German comfort zone”

FIV: Hello dear Kim, thank you very much for taking the time for this interview today. Let’s get straight to it! You are under contract with the renowned agencies Louisa Models and IMG Models. In other words, you also work internationally. What do you like most about the German modeling industry?

KIM: I’ve always wanted to work internationally, see the world, get out of the German comfort zone. Nevertheless, I’m happy when my general wanderlust turns into homesickness, i.e. being back in Germany.

New places, people & challenges

FIV: How nice that you enjoy working practically everywhere. What kind of jobs do you enjoy the most?

KIM: What I love most about my job is being constantly on the move. New places, new people, new challenges. Slipping into different roles and still being so much yourself.

Personal success: Self-realization

FIV: Looking back now, what has been your greatest personal success in your career so far?

KIM: I used to measure my professional success by the names of the brands I work with. Today I understand that self-realization is my greatest personal success – I am truly living my dream with all the ups and downs. Nevertheless, sometimes I can’t believe it myself when I see my face on a magazine cover or randomly somewhere at the airport. You have to rock many, many, many castings for that to happen.

Changes in the German modeling industry

FIV: In your opinion, has the modeling industry in Germany changed in recent years and if so, in what way?

KIM: Yes – and finally! We still have a long way to go, but the trend is moving away from the outdated, unhealthy values of the fashion industry towards diversity, personal storytelling, sustainability, etc.

GNTM: Springboard into a new world

FIV: Now we would like to talk to you about “Germany’s next Topmodel”. In 2016, you won the eleventh season of GNTM. How would you rate the show as a winner and as a successful model?

KIM: GNTM was a wild springboard for me into a world whose doors weren’t open before.

Almost a law graduate instead of a top model

FIV: It’s hard to believe, but before you took part in GNTM, you studied law. Do you think you would have gone down this path without GNTM?

KIM: I usually divide my life into the time before and after Topmodel. Simply because my life, the path I take and I have changed fundamentally as a result of the show.

Makeover & changes? YES!

FIV: The makeover on GNTM was a radical change for you, can you imagine making such a change again?

KIM: What felt unimaginable to me back then is now a reality. I now approach change with a lot of openness and curiosity, so a resounding YES.

Mental health: only one way!

FIV: You went through a difficult time last year. Mental health is still a taboo subject in Germany. What do you think needs to change in society for mental health in general to become a priority?

KIM: It is important to destigmatize so-called taboo topics. Mental health is vital, essential and, above all, it is important to educate and share. By sharing my mental journeys honestly and unfiltered, I have received a lot of feedback that has shown me one thing: Many people feel the same way and many finally felt seen, heard and no longer alone. Mental health suffers in times of crisis like these, so for me there is only one way: together!

Mental health tips

FIV: What advice would you give to young girls who also want to model in terms of mental health?

KIM: Find out about good therapy options. Especially when you start young, the job shapes you a lot, which is why you should be aware of who you are, where you want to go and how you feel with all the challenges. Awareness is the key!

Comeback on German television

FIV: In addition to GNTM, you also took part in “Promi Shopping Queen” and won there too. Can you imagine taking part in another German TV show?

KIM: After GNTM, it was important for me to make a name for myself internationally as a “real model” in the fashion world. In the meantime, I can well imagine a comeback on German TV.

Women For Women International

FIV: Last but not least, we would like to know what values you stand for as a model?

KIM: As a model, but above all as a person and an independent woman, I stand for solidarity, support and empowerment, especially among women. That’s why I work closely with Women For Women International.

“Fashion is Self-Expression”

FIV: Hello dear Trixi, thank you very much for taking the time for this interview. Let’s get right into it! Fashion is a big topic on your social media channels. Is there currently a fashion trend that you just can’t understand?

Trixi: Good question! Fashion has always been an important topic for me, whether consciously or unconsciously. As a child, for example, my mother always allowed me to choose my own outfits. Of course, there were also many days when things didn’t match at all. However, this allowed me to develop my own fashion sense early on. I think it’s important to wear what you feel comfortable with and what you like. You shouldn’t be forced to stick to current trends just to fit in. Fashion is self-expression, so wear whatever you want.

Social media: Instagram or TikTok?

FIV: You do content on both Instagram and TikTok. Of the two, which platform do you personally enjoy more and why?

Trixi: That’s actually something I often ask myself. I don’t think there’s a clear answer for me, because each platform stands for itself and has its very own cosmos. Instagram is the platform that accompanied me directly at the beginning. I know the app and love creating aesthetic content. The exchange with my community is the most important thing for me and that still works best on Instagram. GenZ in particular no longer has an Instagram account today, but moves around on TikTok. It’s nice to see that there is so much diversity on TikTok and that there are always new, fresh trends. The platform is just a lot of fun. That’s why I decided early on to create content on TikTok as well. Even if it’s still incomprehensible to many, since the platform is so insanely versatile and fast-moving, I assume that it’s the future.

Job & Relationship: The most important thing is respect

FIV: In your job, it’s not always easy to separate professional and private life, and as soon as it gets mixed, this can quickly lead to problems in the relationship. On your social media channels you can often be seen working together with your boyfriend. Do you have any tips for our readers on how a relationship can still work?

Trixi: As some of you may know, I’ve been with my boyfriend Samy Neo for a year now. A big help is of course that as a self-employed photographer he understands my work and always supports me. It’s great to know someone on your side with whom you can really share everything. Since we also work together often, the transitions from personal to professional are rather fluid. Nevertheless, I have learned one thing from my previous relationships. The most important thing besides love and friendship is respect. We respect each other and our work very much. Even if we don’t agree, we always try to understand each other’s point of view. I think that’s something that’s also lost socially nowadays – treat others the way you would like to be treated.

Passion ballet discovered in Toulouse

FIV: Now we would like to talk about your passion for ballet. What inspired you to take up ballet back then?

Trixi: I was born in Toulouse and we moved to the States to Washington D.C. for a few years. During that time, my sister and I did gymnastics. When we moved back to Toulouse, I accompanied a friend to ballet and that’s when I discovered my great passion for dancing.

For ballet on their own in Paris

FIV: For ballet, you moved to Paris alone when you were young. Would you like to tell us about your experience of being on your own at a young age?

Trixi: After school, I moved from Toulouse to Paris when I was 17. I lived in a very small apartment on the outskirts of Paris. The move was hard, of course. Cooking for yourself, working, making friends in a new city – it can all be scary. But on the other hand, also something beautiful and enriching, as you get to know each other in a whole new way. Nevertheless, I am incredibly grateful at all times for my family, who are always there for me and always have an open ear when I’m not feeling well or have worries. My family always gives me an incredible amount of strength and support so that I can face new challenges.

Trixis secret tip for the city of love

FIV: By having lived in Paris, would you like to tell us Parisian hotspots where our readers must visit?

Trixi: My favorite activity was just walking around the city and discovering something. There are so many cafes and galeries open to young people. The city gives you so much, so my tip is to put on comfortable shoes and explore the city on foot.

Emigrate: Japan and South Korea?

FIV: Can you imagine emigrating “again” and why? Which country would be your destination?

Trixi: As I mentioned before, we always moved a lot with the family. Toulouse, D.C., Toulouse, then alone to Paris and Berlin. Of course, it’s not always easy to settle in new places. But for me it’s incredibly important to get to know new places and cultures and to exchange ideas with people from all different backgrounds. Especially today, when everything is global, it’s even hard for me to decide on just one place. Therefore, I can very well imagine to emigrate again for a few years. For example, I would love to go to Japan or South Korea. Back then, I missed the last big family vacation to Japan because of GNTM. But I have such a great desire to discover something completely different and new for myself again.

2nd participation in GNTM: Best of season?

FIV: Since you just mentioned “Germany’s next Topmodel,” you participated there in 2018. With the experience you gained there, would you participate again and why?

Trixi: For me, Germany’s next Topmodel was a very formative time with great experiences, which allowed me to take away an incredible amount and learn about myself. I owe a lot to the program. Should there ever be a Best of season, I would definitely participate. I am still in close contact with Toni from my relay or Sarah from 2020 and Luca from the last relay. All participants are connected by this experience. It would be an interesting experience and I would be very happy to share it with them again.

Life after participating in GNTM

FIV: Now we would of course be interested to know how your life has changed so far after GNTM?

Trixi: My life has changed a lot. I moved to Germany, people suddenly recognized me on the street, I had the opportunity to walk for shows, I modeled for magazines, and of course I started with social media, which is all just incredibly fun for me. But I’ve also evolved beyond that. For me, connecting with my followers means an incredible amount. When I’m approached on the street, I still often hear that they’ve known me since GNTM, but then the biggest compliment is hearing that they’ve found themselves in my content. When I can help someone through their day or a hard time or inspire or motivate them to be more true to themselves and their emotions, to try something new or reinvent themselves. That’s the most beautiful thing.

Vivian Cole: Successful as a model since GNTM

FIV: Hello dear Vivian, how nice that it worked out with the interview today! Model With A Message – we immediately became aware of your profile! This beautiful sentence holds one and makes curious for more! Many know you from GNTM where you participated in 2020. Your perseverance has brought you far and you have even made it into the top 10 models 2020! Since the end of the season, some time has passed, how are you doing at the moment? What has happened to you since your time at GNTM?

Vivian: I’m doing great! A lot has happened in that time. I’ve been able to do a lot of work in Mental Health and with important organizations, I’ve launched my own jewelry collection and I’ve been doing further training to become a Mental Coach since the beginning of the year. Right now I am working on current and future goals.

GNTM Highlight: Entry into the Top 10

FIV: GNTM must have been a good start for your life as a model. You made your own experiences there with the model business and it was certainly not always easy! Still, you stuck it out as long as you did and showed everyone what you could do. Were there ups and downs that you remember fondly and would you participate in the show again at your current level?

Vivian: Definitely! It was a challenging, yet incredibly beautiful and unique experience, in every area. But then I would come out of myself sooner and show even more of myself. What was difficult was the time when my health went on strike and I could only slowly return to my normal physical performance due to the after-effects, which is why I had to drop out in the end. But I have so many more great memories: making it to the top 10, my interview on TV about Mental Health, the many different places and people I got to meet!

Vivian Cole: Your way to more self-love!

FIV: For many, the modeling business is daunting, full of Photoshop and perfectionism. You are a very natural model and also dare to post pictures without much make up, which we think is really great! We wonder, how big is the pressure in the business to always be “perfect”? How do you deal with it best?

Vivian: Social media in particular was a challenge for me. The pressure was enormous at the beginning. I have learned, especially in the last year, what self-love really means and how I can best distance myself in a healthy way from the pressure and unrealistic expectations. For example, I now only follow people who inspire me and stopped comparing myself to others when I learned how much editing, posing and lighting is behind the seemingly perfect (self-)presentation and how unrealistic it can be. The more I work on my own self-worth to do this as well, the easier it then slowly becomes to post images that are not “perfect”. It is a process.

This is how Vivian deals with her mental illness!

FIV: Model with a message – that also includes showing yourself as you are. I’m very interested in this question – can you make a statement for our readers about what your message is and what you want to give to people with your feed?

Vivian: I want to inspire, inspire courage, inspire hope. As a person who has lived with mental illness for more than ten years myself, but has found his own way out, I want to show what can happen when you prioritize working and healing on yourself and your inner self and surrender to the process; that these open whole new doors in our lives and our path to our own happiness. Challenges and lows will always be a part of it, but we can learn to actively shape the process ourselves and also to deal differently with difficult times.

The model educates her followers about Mental Health!

FIV: You talk about mental health on your channel and give tips on how to deal with depression and bad thoughts. You have a message here, too, because you’ve been suffering from mental problems since childhood. How do you deal with it when you’re feeling down? Do you have any tips, for people who feel the same way, on how to best get through this time?

Vivian: That’s what I always tell my community: let the feelings be and share them with the right people. Write down your thoughts to give them space and sort them out. I always try to treat myself like my best friend, especially in difficult times. Every day I take time just for me, even if it’s just 10 minutes. Daily walks are the order of the day, because exercise and nature are two very important factors for holistic health for me. Being mindful with myself has changed a lot for me; listening to what my body and mind feel and need. This is not a skill for me, but a way of life by now.

That’s why Vivian speaks openly about her experience with depression

FIV: Positive thoughts are one of the hangers-on in your profile – you share them with the world and want to show people how to see life more positively. Unfortunately, depression is still a rather unspoken condition in our society, people don’t like to talk about it. What gave you the impetus to share your story and raise awareness about depression?

Vivian: My dad passed away in early 2019, which was a hard event for me, but at the same time the trigger for my life change. Three months after his death, I came across a film about the impact of our mindset on our lives, and although I’ve always known it, at that moment it became clearer to me than ever: “There will be no one to take all this away from you. It’s entirely up to you where you go from here.” For the first time, I wholeheartedly decided to heal and came to terms with myself. After a few weeks, I noticed more progress than ever before. The big audition for GNTM, one of my big dreams, was coming up months later after that and I knew I wanted to take this chance. It was there that I spoke publicly about my experience for the first time, with the hope of encouraging other people with similar experiences.

Tip for young models: Use GNTM as a springboard, but also work on your own career!

FIV: You were still young when you started modeling. Aside from GNTM, what advice would you give to other/ younger models to start their career or would you recommend GNTM as a career start? Do you have any tips that you can/ would like to give to younger models for their career?

Vivian: GNTM is about modeling, of course, but primarily it’s more about entertainment. Accordingly, it can be a stepping stone, but there’s no guarantee. Regardless of that, I would try to gain as much experience as possible, actively approach photographers and model agencies myself, work on charisma and posing, and simply dare!

How the model motivates itself

FIV: As a model, you certainly have to show a lot of discipline and perseverance, but you certainly also have cheat days when you would prefer to do nothing at all. What is your recipe against listlessness, how do you motivate yourself to pursue your dreams?

Vivian: I have learned to listen consciously and mindfully to my inner self. When I feel listless or have a bad day, I give myself the rest and time out I need. But for me, every day is a new opportunity and discipline picks up where motivation leaves off. Each person has to find their individual and personal “something” that sparks fire and joy in them, that makes them get up every morning and keep going. I motivate myself by visualizing my goals, acknowledging my progress so far and setting deadlines for myself. What also helps a lot: Mel Robbins’ 5-second rule.

These are Vivian’s biggest inspirations

FIV: Speaking of discipline, many top models prove it to us again and again. With your posts, you inspire many people who follow you and enjoy watching your content. But let’s be honest, everyone needs inspiration or a role model to follow, whether it’s fashion, health or lifestyle topics. Do you have a role model, whether it’s a model, celebrity or influencer that you like to follow or are you your own role model?

Vivian: I don’t have any role models myself, but I have great inspirations, especially when it comes to development and mindset. I am moved by people with their stories and what they have done with them: for example, Dr. Nicole Lepera and her work on the holistic approach, Mel Robbins or Lisa Nichols.

Next Step: Move to Berlin

FIV: Finally, a short look into the future, we are curious what you have planned in the near future: Do you have big plans, like a move or something similar, or is there something special coming up? Give us a little teaser of what your fans and followers can look forward to in the near future!

Vivian: I’m going to move to Berlin! That will be very exciting, as a country bumpkin in the big city, but also professionally, because completely new doors and opportunities will open up, and I won’t be alone there either.

A lot has changed since GNTM

FIV: Hello Yasmin, how nice that it worked out with the interview today. You participated in season 16 of Germany’s Next Topmodel. Since then you are a successful model and active on social media. How has your life changed since you took part in GNTM?

Yasmin: My life has already changed a lot. I’m still doing the job I had before, because you always need a plan B. But it’s still very exciting and new that people recognize you on the street. However, it is still very exciting and new that people recognize you on the street.

Many new possibilities made possible

Yasmin: Not a day goes by without a little girl or grown man asking for a photo for himself or for the family. I am still very excited and happy at the same time. I often ask myself what I have done to deserve all this, since I am no different than anyone else. It’s just as incredible how many products I get sent home or invited to events of my favorite brands. I am a huge Harry Potter fan and to have had the opportunity to be invited to the premiere for the play of the new part and to be allowed on the red carpet was unthinkable for me. So I am all the more grateful for all these opportunities.

Yasmin misses the time at GNTM

FIV: Do you have fond memories of your time on GNTM and would you participate again?

Yasmin: I remember the GNTM time very fondly. Actually, every day. Most of all the moments with the girls, which I miss day after day. This time has shaped me very much and I would always participate again.

Tips for aspiring GNTM candidates and models

FIV: Soon the new season of GNTM will start, what tips do you have for the aspiring candidates?

Yasmin: I was always told how much I should enjoy my time there. Even though a lot of pressure and stamina were required, you should enjoy and make the most of every second. I wish I had understood that beforehand, but hindsight is always wiser. That’s exactly the tip I would give the girls. And that it is of course a competition, but you should still pay attention to the other girls and be happy for other people’s successes. You get what you give. That’s why I don’t regret at all that I’ve spent so much time with the other girls and have found friends for life like Elisa, Dasha and Luca.

All about Yasmin’s fashion style and fashion tips

FIV: On Instagram you inspire us and your followers with your cool style. What inspires your looks? Do you have a style role model from whom you draw inspiration?

Yasmin: It was very important to me from the beginning to be transparent and approachable. I show myself exactly as I am and I am inspired above all by my community. They write me so often on what I should pay attention or tips when I have questions about the content. My content itself is still very expandable and I hope that my community will grow with the experiences that I will still collect with Instagram.

Yasmin: A big move is not yet imminent. Because I am newly single, I would like to think about the future before I take a big leap. I have applied to many model agencies, but would like to announce something only when the decision is finalized. But I want to gain a lot of experience in modeling to grow into a real model. Instagram technically I would also like to slide into the beauty and fashion track. I’ve noticed how much I love creating new looks and being an inspiration.

FIV: Hello dear Elisa, how nice that it worked out with the interview today! Since the new season of Germanys’s Next Topmodel this year, you have remained in our and many people’s memory and your Instagram profile is also growing. Your super outgoing nature has taken you far and you even made it into the Top 10 Models 2021! Some time has passed since the end of the season, how are you doing right now? What has happened to you since your time on GNTM?

Elisa: Thank you, I am also happy that it worked out! In the meantime, some time has passed and I was able to review my time during GNTM. Of course, it is a journey that you go through with yourself and that you grow in many ways. I was able to completely restructure myself professionally and got many new opportunities that were previously almost unthinkable for which I am very grateful today!

Germany’s next Topmodel as a jump start

FIV: GNTM must have been a good start for your life as a model. You made your own experiences there with the model business and it was certainly not always easy! Still, you stuck it out for so long and showed everyone what you could do. Were there ups and downs that you remember fondly and would you participate in the show again at your current level?

Elisa: Absolutely! Especially with my current level of knowledge I would participate every time anew in GNTM again and again. With GNTM I associate basically only positive apart from the hygiene in the bathroom, that was a scandal in itself

Be perfect to be successful as a model?

FIV: For many, the modeling business is daunting, full of Photoshop and perfectionism. You are a very natural model and also dare to post pictures without much make up, which we find really great! Your pictures are the perfect mix of glam look and no makeup for us. We wonder, how big is the pressure to be always “perfect” in the business? How do you handle it best?

Elisa: I think to a certain extent there is a bit of perfectionism in all of us, especially professionally. And as in every profession, there are also times when you are stressed or feel pressured. But the most important thing is not to compare yourself in the “Instagram world” and to keep that in mind, which I do quite well.

Tips for young up and coming models

FIV: You were still young when you started modeling. Aside from GNTM, what advice would you give to other/ younger models to start their career or would you recommend GNTM as a career start? Do you have any tips that you can/ would like to give to younger models for their career?

Elisa: Especially for young models it is important to finish school! And not to compare yourself in any way with other models, because everyone individually has a very special type that is in demand in the respective model industry. However, you should get used to punctuality and a certain structure early on.

Planning is the be-all and end-all in the model business

FIV: As a model, you should be flexible and open to new countries. You have to travel a lot when your job requires it. On your Instagram profile you are also busy posting about vacations and trips, the pictures make you want to get on the next plane! Can you balance that well with your boyfriend who is a soccer player, do you find time to go traveling as a couple as well? What places you’ve been to or would like to go to inspire you the most? Do you have a favorite place and recommendations for our readers?

Elisa: I’m so happy that my Instagram feed is so well received and inspiring! Organization is for us the A & O in a relationship and I’m very happy that we come there so on a denominator! Especially because I am relatively flexible in terms of time and can manage my own time well, I can plan super when and how long I can be with him in Denmark. Vacation trips are not yet planned, but if we create it temporally always in his summer or winter break.

Elisa’s favorite travel destination is …

My favorite place so far is and remains Mallorca, I grew up there and always feel at home where I can come to rest and completely switch off.

Skin care tips for a clear skin

FIV: When traveling, besides the beautiful aspects, it can also be stressful at times. Especially through stress, the skin can suffer. When do you feel most comfortable in your skin and do you have your top beauty tips for our readers, for a beautiful skin ect.?

Elisa: Unfortunately, feeling comfortable with blemished skin is difficult for a lot of people these days.

FIV: It is known that only creams do not make the skin healthy. They can support, but the real beauty comes from within. Are you on a special diet that you have to follow as a model or do you exercise regularly? Do you have a tip you can give us about health?

Elisa’s skin care routine and favorite products

Elisa: Most women have blemished skin because they only remove their makeup with a makeup remover and use an oily night cream, because they think it does something. Wrong! The right care with the right ingredients makes it in the end: Good care in the morning and evening in combination with chemical peels, niacinamide serums, vitamin C, AHA & BHA are key. My secret tip: Zinc ointment – It relieves the inflammation in the pimple and works wonders.

Lifestyle tips from Elisa

FIV: As a model, you certainly have to show a lot of discipline and perseverance, but you certainly also have cheat days when you would prefer to do nothing at all. What is your recipe against listlessness, how do you motivate yourself to pursue your dreams?

Elisa: I am not on a special diet. I love to go jogging in nature and have a healthy lifestyle, but that has actually always been the case and doesn’t come overnight. Tips on the subject of health: A lot of exercise and enough water, so I always see an improvement in my skin.

In order to get back on track, a beauty day usually helps me on my offline days, where I take care of myself completely.

Self-doubt through social media

FIV: You have a great reach on social media. With that notoriety comes both positive and negative aspects. Among other things, criticism. How great is the pressure in the business to always be “perfect”? What’s the best way to deal with it?

Alicija: Personally, I’m a very perfectionistic person, which is good on the one hand but also brings its downsides…most of the time I stand in my own way and my chances. Last year I struggled a lot with my self-doubt and with my body. I was just comparing myself. Which actually also made me sick.

Social media spreads false impressions

Alicija: In the social media world, it seems like everything is just perfect, beautiful and THAT is the REAL life. When you watch influencers building a house, starting a family, getting married, doing sports and eating healthy, you forget to see yourself. You immerse yourself in another world and forget your own. His own needs, his own body. Just because a certain lifestyle applies to someone and they share their experience (unaware of what it may do to others) doesn’t mean it will work for you and your body. You may be inspired by it but not want to make it completely your own. We have completely forgotten to listen to ourselves because we are too busy showing people a false world (which is actually insane).

Alicija’s experience with perfectionism

Alicija: In the meantime, I have reached a point where I can talk about it (even if it is still difficult). I actually want to share my experiences, only my perfectionism comes into play again. I’m working on that though and it’s getting better and better. For the year, I’ve resolved to be more myself, listen to my heart, and whenever I think no one might like it, upload or share it all the more.

GNTM has completely changed Alicija’s life

FIV: You owe your fame to GNTM, among other things. You participated in GNTM in 2019 and came in 5th place. Since then, you’ve been a successful model and active on social media. How has your life changed since you took part in GNTM?

Alicija : It has indeed changed completely. If someone had told me that earlier, I wouldn’t have been able to believe it myself.

Alicija: After I applied for GNTM, I roughly knew that it was about “modeling,” but I had no idea about social media. So I dived into the social media world without knowing how it really works. Even today I ask myself if it is the right thing for me. Of course, you don’t abandon such a “gift” of reach and your “fans”, yet I realize that I just ( precisely because Instagram, for example, has changed so much) no longer agree with my inner values and those that Instagram embodies. Accordingly, I try to share my values that are important to me with my followers.

GNTM: Modeling is a nightmare

FIV: Has modeling always been your dream job? If so, since when?

Alicija : I loved the idea of walking the catwalks of the world, working with different designers, traveling, meeting new people and getting beautiful photos. However, that didn’t really hit home for me personally after GNTM. Reality looks different than it is portrayed in the show. I had to make the experience of not being good enough, not being thin enough and not being tall enough. Thus, the former dream job of modeling became an actual nightmare, after you were allowed to kiss the sky of all that in GNTM.

Tips for participation in GNTM

FIV: Soon the new season of GNTM will start, what tips do you have for the aspiring candidates?

Alicija: Enjoy absolutely every second that you can be there, enjoy the time with the other girls. Be grateful to be able to travel and have such an experience. Just go with it and listen to yourself. If your heart says it’s not the right thing to do, then stop. Not everyone is made for this psychological pressure and you will feel better in the end even if everyone else says otherwise. If you feel good about it, give 100%, push yourself and be nice to everyone else.

Tips: Perfect interior design

FIV: You also attach great importance to order and a beautifuly decorated home. Do you have any tips for the perfect interior design?

Alicija : I love interior, when decorating I can actually live quite well. There is no “perfect” interior. Look at what you feel comfortable with, collect ideas and create small vision/mood boards. Don’t buy on impulse, take your time and think twice or three times. Order is half the battle, but even there I know that not everyone can do it and everyone has their own order. All I can say is that I feel more comfortable in a tidy home than in a messy one.

Outlook for Alicija’s future

FIV: Finally, a short look into the future, we are curious what you have planned in the near future: Do you have big plans like a move or something similar or is there something special coming up? Give us a little teaser of what your fans and followers can look forward to in the near future!

Alicija : This year I plan to travel a lot, generate new experiences for myself and grow mentally. To do more what I enjoy and to pursue my work with more ease. As I mentioned in the beginning, I would actually like to invite my followers to pay more attention to themselves again. I have a little Detox Thursday in mind, where you put your phone away, do something for yourself, spend time with your family and friends and maybe take a picture of it and send it to me. The idea is not yet fully developed, but I just want to encourage people to do something for themselves and not to participate in building a house, planning a family, or going to the gym, but to live their lives and shape them themselves.

Social media: The pressure is on to do everything right!

FIV: Hi Soraya, glad it worked out with the interview. You have a great reach on social media. With that notoriety comes both positive and negative aspects. Among other things, criticism. How much pressure is there in the business to always be “perfect”? What’s the best way to deal with that?

Soraya: I’m lucky that I haven’t had to take so much criticism yet. Nevertheless, the pressure is very great to want to do everything right. That’s why your thoughts often revolve around your job, no matter when or where you are. You always have the feeling that you have to get better. But you should always try to be as relaxed as possible about it.

Soraya’s most beautiful trip so far: Bali

FIV: On social media, you share impressions of wonderful trips like Venice, Bali or Dubai with your followers. What was your most beautiful trip so far and which experience do you still remember fondly?

Soraya: I am very grateful that my job has allowed me to be in so many great places! The most beautiful trip for me was Bali. A place where you can just switch off and enjoy.

This is how her life has changed because of GNTM!

FIV: You owe your fame to Germany’s Next Topmodel, among other things. You took part in GNTM in 2018 and came in 12th place. Since then, you’ve been a successful model and active on social media. How has your life changed since you took part in GNTM?

Soraya: My life has changed completely! I am so incredibly grateful that I was able to experience so much at my young age through GNTM and that my life is now the way it is at the moment because of it. I’m living my dream with my dream job. I couldn’t ask for anything more right now.

Soraya’s tip to GNTM contestants: Enjoy the time!

FIV: Soon the new season of GNTM will start, what tips do you have for the aspiring candidates?

Soraya: Enjoy this incredibly great time to the fullest! Always stay yourself and just have fun. The time will pass so quickly and you will remember this intense time for a very long time!

Soraya: I haven’t set any specific goals for this year. I just let everything come to me. But I will be even more active on my social media channels and take you into my life there! We will definitely make many great trips together again.

Vanessa’s adopted home is New York City

FIV: Hello Vanessa, how nice that it worked out with the interview today. You are a busy model and always have a lot to do. What’s been going on with you lately and what exciting projects are you pursuing right now?

Vanessa: After being in Europe for a few weeks, I am now back in New York City. My adopted country and my absolute comfort zone, which I regularly leave for my job and travel. My management at 100% made sure that even after a long time in the USA, I didn’t lose touch with Europe and was able to continue working there as a model, so that new, exciting opportunities presented themselves every day.

A successful modeling career is also possible without GNTM!

FIV: Many people know you from your victory on GNTM. Would you participate in GNTM again and would you recommend young models to participate?

Vanessa: Of course GNTM has shaped me and confirmed that I want to continue living my dream after the show. However, you should be aware that the real world is somewhat different. Since I didn’t continue to follow the seasons, I can’t judge to what extent the show has developed further. From my experience, I can say that I no longer feel a connection to GNTM and that modeling can also be realized with the classic walk to the modeling agency.

Modeling combines Vanessa’s passions fashion and travel

FIV: Has modeling always been your dream job and what inspired you to become a model?

Vanessa: I had my fashion icons early on, like the young Brigitte Bardot or Princess Diana. I love fashion, like to stage it and have fallen in love with traveling. New people, cultures, experiences – it enriches my life immensely. I would never have dreamed that this could be realized.

Career Highlight: Fashion Week New York

FIV: Your modeling career is going great, you’re incredibly successful and have even walked at New York Fashion Week? What has been your best experience as a model so far?

Vanessa: I have had the opportunity to meet many wonderful people at jobs and events. Through this exchange and experience I grow steadily as a model as well as personally. A highlight for me was the Fashion Week New York 2021, where I was allowed to be there. I hope for the next Fashion Weeks and am already looking forward to the castings.

Vanessa’s inspirations: Brigitte Bardot and Princess Diana

FIV: With your successful modeling career, you are certainly a role model for many girls who dream of a career as a model. Do you have a role model in the modeling business or in the fashion world that inspires you?

Vanessa: As already mentioned, the young Brigitte Bardot and Princess Diana are my fashion idols. Inspiration is the right keyword here, because I don’t want to emulate anyone, but rather define my own life path together with my team and find out where our joint work will take us.

Vanessa’s future plans for 2022

FIV: Finally, a short look into the future, we are curious what you have planned in the near future: Do you have big plans like a move or something similar or is there something special coming up? Give us a little teaser of what your fans and followers can look forward to in the near future!

Vanessa: I am still traveling as much as possible. I’m very lucky that this is an integral part of my work as a model. Currently, you will find me in New York City. However, I am also in good spirits that I will be working more in Europe again in the coming year. Life as a model is fast-paced, so it’s hard to say when, how and where changes will arrive. But that’s what’s so appealing.
