Paris Fashion Week: Dior, Hermès and Co.

Paris Fashion Week sets the tone when it comes to fashion. New trends are created here and old trends are brought back to life. Old-established French haute couture and prêt-à-porter labels have their permanent place in the hierarchy of designers. Brands like Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel and Givenchy present their latest collections, which you can admire here, in this article. Hermès: Fashion show at the airport

The Hermès show was once again something very special. On an airfield in Paris, the models walk in halls equipped with partitions, in a golden glow. Held in earthy tones, the collection is presented quite simply and, it seems, without much effort by the models. The highlight of the show is clearly the end: behind the models, who have taken up their positions in front of an open gate for the final pose, a plane lands on the runway. Givenchy: Fashion show in a military outfit

Military cuts, broad shoulders and narrow waists from the forties, greens and blacks – A collection with an explosion of ideas and a collaboration with artist Josh Smith. Head designer Matthew M. Williams shows his third ready-to-wear collection based on his ideas for his next haute couture collection. Streetwear looks were created that show Matthew M. Williams love for texture and surface.

Saint Laurent: Romantic show under the stars

Finally – after numerous fashion films in nature, due to the still ongoing pandemic, the Eiffel Tower finally shines again in the night sky of Paris. Typical French colors – blue, white and red, mark the collection, center of which visibly represents Paloma Picasso, a Renaissance woman whose lifestyle was the inspiration for head designer Anthony Vaccarello. Let yourself be enchanted by the romanticism of Paris at night in this video.

Dior: board game or fashion show?

At this year’s presentation of the Dior women’s collection designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, it’s hard to tell if you’re in a 70s game show, a life-size board game or in the middle of a fashion show. Angular and straight cuts, bustier tops and small suits are reminiscent of the fashion of the 60s, which are revived in this collection. Bright and graphic colors complete the illusion, you feel transported back in time.

Balenciaga: The guests as show highlight

Demna Gvasalia – a genius of fashion and installation. The designer presented Balenciaga’s latest collection directly on the red carpet, skipping the catwalk step. At this premiere, the guests are the show – a dream of Gvasalia’s that is finally coming true with this collection. For the “real” guests there was a special highlight as a premiere, Balenciaga collaborated for an exclusive episode with The Simpsons, which was also shown at the end of the reception. Louis Vuitton: Fashion show at the Louvre in Paris

Dozens of chandeliers adorn the Passage Richelieu of the Louvre – Nicolas Ghesquière enchants his audience with 19th century silhouettes paired with modern elements. Instead of heavy petticoats, the models exude a lightness created by the break between business blazer and dress. Already at Balenciaga and now at Chanel, Nicolas Ghesquière proves his talent for design.

Chanel: flashes for the models

Revisiting the 80s and 90s, flashing lights on the catwalk and supermodels. With this Chanel collection, designer Virginie Viard captures the spirit of the glamour of the time. Everything – not only the staging, also the accessories in Chanel N°5 flacon form up to the music points to the era of the 90s. Unlike usual, the models do not look stern and without any emotion straight down from the elevated catwalk, instead they smile into the cameras and show the joy of wearing the black and white bodysuits.

Miu Miu: The new generation workwear

This collection appeals to the young business women who can’t carry on as before after the pandemic. The pencil skirt and blazer get a new, cooler and more contemporary look. Norms and dress codes are being challenged, a continuation of the already ongoing fashion revolution. Even the guests got to feel the back to work spirit, they got to sit in ergonomic office chairs. Miu Miu: from nickname to luxury label

The name of the Italian fashion house is inspired by Miuccia Prada’s nickname from childhood. In 1993 a new door opened in the Italian fashion world. A door where especially younger customers ask for entry and queue up. The first boutique opens in Via della Spiga Milan. Three years later Miu Miu debuts with her first fashion show at New York Fashion Week. With Kate Moss as a model, nothing seems to stand in the way of success. Miu Miu acts as the most uninhibited representation of Miuccia Prada’s creativity. XXL lace over tight bodysuits or cycling shorts and shirts establish themselves as a brand recognition factor. The young line is very close to the designer’s heart, which is why authenticity is always her top priority.

Miuccia Prada: the face behind the Italian fashion brand

These words sum up the philosophy of Miuccia Prada. She wants to give the woman the opportunity to stand out from the masses without assuming the status of an outsider – just be herself. She was born in Milan in 1949 into a wealthy family and has had contact with the fashion world since birth. Flea market clothes and vintage clothing helped her to stand out from the masses already in her youth.

“En Vogue” was rarely her goal, rather she understood fun in provocation. She studied political science. This was followed by a five-year acting & amp; mime training. At only 28 years of age, however, her career was to take a completely different direction. She took over the family business Prada, which is run by the third generation of the Prada family. She revolutionized it with the establishment of a fashion line alongside the classic leather creations. But the age of “Pradamania” didn’t seem to be enough for her – so she launched the more affordable second line Miu Miu in 1993. If I think three times, I stop. . . Anything avant-garde, twisted, or challenging becomes part of my Miu Miu vision. In this sense there is a bit more room for liberty.”
