In the following article you will learn more about the models of then, now and even tomorrow!
The models of the 1990s are still known to us today. They have shaped the model world and are great role models for new beginning models. They worked with the most famous brands and designers and earned millions of Euros. These beauties are still writing history and it is hard to imagine life without them. Some of them are still working in the model business today, others have withdrawn a bit and concentrate on other things, like family or their own projects. But each of them is still in the public eye – some more and some less.

The style of the 90s was known for its freedom of movement, comfort and experimentation. Music had a great influence on the fashion of the time, which could be seen in the platform shoes or the so-called “Mom Jeans”. Today you can find the style of the 90’s everywhere. Crop tops, wide pants, shoes with a platform, belly pockets, wide sweaters or extraordinary sunglasses – all these items of clothing are firmly represented again today. The most famous models of that time set the trends or went with them and shaped them.
Successes of the supermodels
The fact that the top models earned millions of Euros back then is probably familiar to us all by now. Whether on huge advertising posters in cities, on TV, on the catwalk or on covers of the most famous magazines – the models of the 90s were torn everywhere. The covers of the fashion magazines “Vogue” or “Elle” were always decorated with the supermodels. They were adored and adored by fans and brands – like real stars!
The models also tried their hand in the film and music industry – some were successful, others left it at a film or music video role. Cindy Crawford and Linda Evangelista were one of the models for whom it was worthwhile to dive into the acting or music video business. Crawford has appeared in numerous movies and series, Evangelista became known not only for modeling but also for her appearance in the music video of George Michael.
What do they do today?
Some of them started their family in the last years, others are still in the business – or even both. Some of their offspring have even followed in the models’ footsteps: Cindy Crawford’s children Presley and especially Kaia Gerber can be seen on the catwalks of the world and, just like their mother, are booked by the top brands.
But they definitely have one thing in common: they are still beautiful!
Millennials, also known as “Generation Y”, are the people born around the turn of the millennium. The models of that time also work with the top brands. The model world may have changed, but the “newcomers” can still celebrate success! Never before has the modeling business been as diversified as it is today: whether curvy, thin, tall, small, old or young – everything is there. Even the model show “Germany’s Next Topmodel” with juror Heidi Klum, now advertises that personality and character are above the figure. The model should be changeable, but there is no longer any emphasis on “classic beauty” as it once was in the 90’s – even though Heidi Klum herself is a supermodel from the 90’s.
Furthermore, more value is placed on Instagram and Co. today than ever before – back then, the models were discovered in discos or on the street, today the figurehead of the aspiring models is their social media presence. It is easier than ever before to establish cooperations or to get in touch with brands and agencies. One click and you have direct access to all pictures and videos that the influencers and models share publicly.
Virtual Models and Influencer
Virtual influencers will be indispensable in the world of tomorrow. Behind them are inventors who conceive a certain idea of a virtual character in the form of an avatar and control it with the computer. Some of them are already known worldwide and others are still on their way. Some of them are better known and work with more companies and brands than “living” influencers. They are consciously adapted to a target group, which probably explains their success, because they meet exactly their needs and interests. But a large part of mankind is not yet completely convinced of the idea that virtual characters should really overtake the living ones.
