Germany’s Next Topmodel – The new season with Heidi Klum, Thomas Hayo and Michael Michalsky

From the 4th of February it’s that time again. The 11th season of “Germany’s Next Topmodel” is just around the corner and with it many new rules and changes. Fashion designer Michael Michalsky is the new face on the jury, replacing Wolfgang Joop. “Germany’s Next Topmodel” adopts the “team concept” of the casting show “The Voice of Germany” and the models no longer live in a luxurious villa but stay in hostels. Transgender model Andreja Pejic is a guest judge and top models Toni Garrn and Winnie Harlow support the models during the shootings. In addition, the new Topmodel 2016 candidates have now also been determined.

The new jury

Looking forward to season 11 with @michael.michalsky and @thomashayo

The jury for the new season is finally set. As always: Heidi Klum and Thomas Hayo. But we have to say goodbye to Wolfgang Joop as a jury member, because his place is taken by fashion designer Michael Michalsky, who sees himself in the role of professional advisor. Michalsky: “With fairness, know-how and a strong will, I will support the candidates who really make an effort. Because we are not looking for just anyone. We are looking for Germany’s Next Topmodel. That’s a high standard.” With these words, the fashion designer makes it clear that he will not take on the role of the caring substitute father for the girls, which Wolfgang Joop took on in the last two seasons.

The new rules – GNTM takes over Voice-of-Germany Buzzer

Welcome @michael.michalsky to #GNTM Great first day of shooting!

In the 11th season the model life will be even harder for the candidates and they have to adjust to many new rules and changes. On the official GNTM homepage it says: “The countdown to the new season is on and a lot has changed. Who will pass the ultimate battle? Look forward to new rules, a new jury and a whole new style.” Namely, the show introduces a completely new concept, which is strongly reminiscent of the singing casting show “The Voice of Germany”. Creative director Thomas Hayo and fashion designer Michael Michalsky “battle” with buzzers. The girls have to choose a team during the walk: “Team Thomas” or “Team Michael”.

Hostel instead of villa! Closer to life than ever before

But that’s not all. In the season it is now called: Hostels instead of model villa and even more challenges for the young candidates. The girls are to get to know the real modeling life, which newcomer Michael Michalsky clearly formulates: “I want to show the young women the demands of real modeling life as real as possible. To be successful as a model in the long term, you have to have more to offer than the perfect measurements and a beautiful face.”

The girls are also on the road even more. Places like Milan, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and Los Angeles are to be among the stops of the girls. This is to bring more drama and soap character into the show. However, the channel is met with incomprehension from their fans with this. “The buzzers are so unnecessary” and “Why doesn’t everything stay the same?” are frequent comments from fans on Facebook.

Andreja Pejic – guest judge?

Shooting GNTM today with @thomashayo @michael.michalsky and the beautiful @andrejapejic

Heidi Klum posted this picture of the new jury and transgender model Andreja Pejic on her Instagram page. For a long time there was speculation about whether the model would be part of the jury. But now it is certain that Andreja Pejic will not be a permanent jury member, but will probably appear as a guest judge on the show. Before her sex change, the model was mainly known for her androgynous appearance. She presented both men’s and women’s fashion for labels such as Gaultier, and in an interview she described herself as “living between the sexes” but preferring “her”. In 2014 she underwent gender reassignment surgery and now calls herself Andreja.

We caught up with one of the new hot androgynous top models for an interview a few weeks ago.

Famous visit – Topmodel Toni Garrn and Winnie Harlow

The new season will feature top models like Winnie Harlow and Toni Garrn. They will actively support the candidates in challenges and shootings. Especially the appearance of top model Winnie Harlow, who suffers from vitiligo disease, is causing great excitement among fans. Top model Toni Garrn will be on hand to advise and support the girls as a mentor.

Topmodels 2016 – The new candidates of Heidi Klum

Since August 2015 Heidi&CO have been busy shooting for the 11th season of “Germany’s Next Topmodel”. The top candidates are therefore already fixed and can be seen on Heidis’ Instagram pictures. What is striking: The most different types are there. A small feature of the new concept is that viewers and fans can put together their own team on the website of “Prosieben”. In addition, there are already the first professional photos of the girls and short videos in which they introduce themselves. One of the videos features Elena Carriére, the daughter of actor Mathieu Carriére, who explains that she wants to become a top model without her famous last name. Another familiar face among the contestants is Fata Hasanovic. She already participated in the show 2 years ago and made it to the top 20, but was eliminated because she was not allowed to enter the US with her passport.

Here are the top candidates of the 11th season:

The final and the prize money

After the bomb threat in the 2015 final, it is still to be determined where, when and in which setting the final will take place this year. What the winner will receive as a prize is also not yet known. Vanessa Fuchs, last year’s winner, received a modeling contract worth 250,000 euros, 100,000 euros in cash and she made the Cosmopolitan cover.
