Germanys Next Topmodel darling, model and Instagram star Julia Wulf

Julia was the winner of hearts in the 11th season of Germany’s next Topmodel. Due to an illness she had to drop out of the show early. However, her extraordinary look, her open, slightly planned way has brought her very far, more than 430,000 followers on Instagram are now waiting daily for new pictures of the beautiful Hamburg girl. We talked to her about New York, the participation and the model business.

Julia wants to work in New York

FIV: Julia I saw you were in New York! The model and fashion metropolis most models dream of. What makes New York special for you? What did you do there?

yes, that’s right! I was there and fell in love with the city. It is so incredibly big and you have the feeling that the whole world is open to you. These houses, the people, this friendliness. Just not as dull and boring as Germany and I like that!

In principle I was there to introduce myself to model agencies, because I would like to stay there for a longer time!

FIV: What are your experiences as a model in this city? Are there things you should keep in mind?

I wasn’t modeling there, I was looking for an agency. So no idea.

FIV: What model hot spots would you recommend to other models?

I don’t know. I was only there for 10 days.

FIV: What was your personal highlight in New York?

I had a blast and every day was different and just amazing. It’s hard to say what exactly was THE highlight, but I think the moment when I stood under the Brooklyn Bridge and everything was just so incredibly big and beautiful I will never forget.

FIV: How do you manage to be without family and friends during your travels?

You always find new people and I am generally not a guy who forgets quickly at home, so everything is cool!

How Germany’s next Topmodel influenced her career

FIV: We all know you from Germanys Next Topmodel. How has your life changed as a result?

Absolutely. If I hadn’t taken part in the show, I would certainly still be working in the service industry and most likely studying. I’m going to put that on the back burner and travel instead and (hopefully) make a lot of cash!

FIV: Julia, you were not only very popular with the jury but also with the candidates and viewers. You can also see that from your almost 440,000 followers on Instagram. How do you explain that and especially your popularity on the social media platform? How important are well-maintained social media channels for models today?

To be honest I have no idea why that is so freaked out with me. I have of course already given me effort with my photos and also make sure that everything is nice and nice to look at, but so do the other girls that yes also.I’m just myself and have no strategy and follow no examples of how my IG should look like, but I just do my thing…. And that’s what people like. There I have had times really lucky! Otherwise I can not because.

FIV: In retrospect, do you see participation as career enhancing?

Maybe not for my career as a normal model, but for my career as a personality in any case! Otherwise I would not have gone this way in the first place.

About exhausting and cumbersome models

FIV: Has modelling always been your dream job?

No, actually not. I never really knew what I wanted to do (not even now) but I never really thought about modeling to be honest.

FIV: Which designer would you like to walk the catwalk for?

ALEXANDER WANG! (Tip: here more about the famous designer: Alexander Wang)

FIV: For many girls it is certainly a dream to become a model. What do you think is more important to succeed as a model? What would you advise up-and-coming models?

In the first place, of course, the appearance and figure. Anyone who says otherwise is lying or has no idea. Customers book you the first time because of your appearance and a second time they book themselves because of your behavior.

It is then advantageous if you do not grumble and do exactly what you should. No one wants to work with exhausting and cumbersome models! The selection is also very large, so why take one that sucks when there are 1000 that do not?

FIV: What are your dreams for your professional future? Is there anything special coming up in the near future?

Unfortunately I just don’t know where I want to go in my life. In any case, be successful and especially independent. First of all I want to go abroad and model there, just have a great time!

FIV: How would your friends describe you?

As a fairly honest and possibly a little scheduled person.

FIV: Finally, a question for you, privately – What does a perfect day look like for you?

Lie with my friends at 30 degrees on the Elbe and tan my belly. That would be nice now.

Thanks Julia for the great interview.
