Wegovy experience: 4 months with GLP-1 – How much does the weight loss injection really help?
Wegovy, Ozempic, Mounjaro – GLP-1 drugs are seen by many as the last resort in the fight against obesity. But what is the reality beyond the glossy promises? Tikwa, himself a sufferer and no stranger to the weight loss community, has documented Wegovy over four months – honestly, directly and with all the ups and downs. The video is over 17 minutes long. Here you will find the most important experiences, learnings and warnings. After 30 days of Mounjaro, today 4 months of Wegovy! Of course, I have also embedded Tikwa’s video for you.
A lifetime of dieting – and now Wegovy?
Tikwa describes himself as “someone who has had to lose weight all his life” – everything from fasting cures to TV shows like “The Biggest Loser“. His hope: Wegovy. Despite his sound nutritional knowledge, he was not successful in the long term. He opted for the GLP-1 drug before considering an operation such as a stomach reduction.
What is Wegovy actually?
Wegovy contains the active ingredient semaglutide and belongs to the class of GLP-1 receptor agonists. It sends satiety signals to the brain and slows down gastric emptying – with the aim of reducing appetite and calorie intake. Unlike Ozempic, Wegovy is explicitly approved for people with obesity, even without diabetes.
How does the intake feel?
- Strong effect at the beginning: little hunger, hardly any urge to eat.
- Psychological relief when shopping and in everyday life.
- No more cravings for typical triggers such as snacks or buffets.

The side effects: No small matter
As convincing as the start was, the side effects were not long in coming. Tikwa openly reports severe nausea, long-lasting heartburn and depressive moods. Particularly distressing: slow digestion and a constant, queasy feeling in her stomach.
“I was on the verge of dropping out several times. This constant discomfort – it’s not without its problems.” – Tikwa
How much weight has he actually lost?
In total, Tikwa lost around 8 kilograms in four months. A respectable figure – but not what many would expect from a “miracle injection”. He emphasizes: “Wegovy is not a self-runner. You still have to actively do something.”
What does it all cost?
- 0.25 mg to 1.7 mg: between 170 and 240 euros per syringe
- Total costs to date: just under 1,000 euros
- No assumption of costs by the health insurance company
Wegovy changes your relationship with food – but not your life by itself
Tikwa sees taking Wegovy as the “last test before the operation”. The injection drastically reduces appetite, making it easier to adopt new eating habits. However, without active participation – e.g. sport, structure, discipline – the effect remains limited. Side effects and price are not a minor matter.
Anyone considering testing Wegovy should be aware of this: The injection changes the body – but the mental work remains. You can find the video above – and Tikwa’s honest assessment is worth its weight in gold if you’re faced with the decision yourself.
