Glass Skin: The Korean routine for radiant, crystal-clear skin
Glass Skin is the most coveted skin look in the Korean beauty world: poreless, even skin that is so radiantly clear it looks like glass. What looks like a filter is the result of consistent Korean skincare – and achievable for most skin types with the right routine.
What does glass skin mean?
The term comes from Korea and describes skin that looks translucent, plump and even – no visible pores, no redness, no dull complexion. Glass skin is not a make-up look, but a skin condition. The opposite of glass skin is dehydrated, dull or uneven skin.

The Glass Skin Routine step by step
The Glass Skin Routine is an adaptation of the classic Korean 10-Step Skincare Routine. You don’t have to do all 10 steps – but the order is important.
In the morning
- Gentle cleansing: In the morning, a mild water phase cleanser or lukewarm water is sufficient – the skin was not burdened with make-up during the night
- Toner: Hydrating Essence toner, applied several times (so-called 7-skin method: apply 7 thin layers)
- Essence: The centerpiece – light, water-based texture with concentrated active ingredients (snail mucin, hyaluronic acid, centella)
- Moisturizer: Light, non-comedogenic cream for sealing
- SPF 50+: mandatory step – sun protection is the most important anti-ageing active ingredient of all
Evening
- Oil Cleanser: Removes SPF, make-up and grease-soluble dirt
- Water Cleanser: Double Cleansing – the second cleansing step removes water-soluble residues
- Exfoliation (2-3x/week): Gentle BHA (salicylic acid) for pores, AHA (lactic acid, glycolic acid) for texture
- Toner + Essence
- Sheet Mask (2-3x/week): 15-20 minutes, do not wash off Essence afterwards – massage in
- Serum: Niacinamide for pigmentation spots, vitamin C for radiance,
retinol for wrinkles (not at the same time as BHA/AHA) - Moisturizer: slightly richer in the evening than in the morning
- Sleeping Pack (optional): A sleeping mask that moisturizes the skin overnight

Which skin type benefits the most?
Glass Skin is theoretically achievable for every skin type – the approach just needs to be adapted:
- Dry skin: More essences and richer creams,
multiple layers of hyaluronic acid - Oily skin: Lighter textures, BHA for pores, niacinamide to regulate sebum
- Sensitive skin: Centella Asiatica, Mugwort, Klairs or Dr. Jart+ Cicapair line
- Combination skin: Zone care – T-zone lighter, cheeks richer
How long does it take to get the first results?
With a consistent routine, most people see the first changes after 4-6 weeks. Significant improvements in pigmentation and texture after 3 months. Glass Skin is not a sprint – it’s an investment in long-term skin health.
