Model Antonia Wesseloh - Her dream of modeling came true - FIV

Prada, Chanel, Marc Jacobs – Antonia Wesseloh is an internationally successful model. At the tender age of 20, she has already covered an impressive career path in the fashion world. At the age of 16, her dream of modeling came true – the future of the ambitious model is promising. I talked to Antonia about personal styling, her jump into the modeling business and her dream of having a small family.

FIV: You’ve been in the modeling business for a few years now, you’ve already worked for some big designers and labels like Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld or Prada. So you are permanently involved with fashion and styling. What are your current fashion favourites or must-haves of the season?

Antonia: For me it always has to be a leather jacket and boots, no matter what season. In the summer, it may also be combined with something white or a colorful IT piece.

FIV: Do you have a tip for styling? Especially now in summer, when the temperatures outside are rising?

Antonia: Less fabric. Just wear shorts, boots, a casual top and your favorite bag and you’re good to go.

FIV: Who inspires you in your personal look?

Antonia: I have no one in particular as a role model, I get inspired by many different photo series that come my way. Especially elegant and rocky themes appeal to me, the mixture makes it.

FIV: How do you go to auditions? Do you make special preparations for your appearance & appearance?

Antonia: I take care of myself as always and come to the casting particularly naturally. Simply dressed and little make-up to not distract from me.

FIV: As a successful model you have to have a top figure permanently, especially as an international model you have to pay a lot of attention to your measurements. How do you manage to keep your figure and constantly optimize it? Do you have any special fitness tricks?

Antonia: I am thankfully very blessed with “good genes” and don’t have to pay much attention to what I eat or how often I exercise. However, it is only beneficial to eat healthy and exercise.

FIV: The topic of beauty plays a decisive role as a model, in which moments do you personally feel particularly beautiful?

Antonia: I feel especially beautiful in the moments when I can be myself. When I can dress and make up the way I want and do things that I enjoy. In life you should always do what fulfills you and makes you happy. Then you are at your most beautiful.

FIV: For you the dream of being an internationally successful model has come true, what do you still want to fulfil in your life? Do you still have a big dream?

Antonia: I have the dream of having my own little family – but that still has a few years to go. First of all I need the right man by my side.

FIV: You were still very young when you entered the modeling business. At 16 you already had a big campaign with Prada and walked on the most important catwalks, how did you start your career? Was modeling already a childhood dream?

Antonia: When I was a little girl, I actually wanted to be an actress. When I was 14, I applied to modeling agencies on my own and luckily Modelwerk took me on.

FIV: Did you have a model role model when you started?

Antonia: No not really – and I still haven’t.

FIV: What has been the best moment in your career so far? Which job will you never forget?

Antonia: I will never forget the many beautiful moments I had/have at Chanel.

FIV: As a model you travel the world a lot and are certainly not often at home, so you must miss your family and friends. How do you reconcile your job with your private life?

Antonia: At the moment I live in Hamburg and always travel abroad for direct bookings. So I make sure that I’m always home enough in between.

FIV: Which country appeals to you most for travelling or living? Why?

Antonia: Through all the travelling I’ve done, I’ve noticed that Germany is the closest to my permanent home. I would love to travel to Australia. I’ve heard so many great things about the country and the people and I’ve never been there myself.

Antonia on the relevance of social media for models

FIV: From your point of view, how important are well-maintained social media channels in the model business today? Are you yourself also active in the social media area?

Antonia: Social media has become very important in the model business in recent years. Some models are chosen and booked according to their ‘followers’. Of course I also have a Facebook and Instragam account.

FIV: How is the contact to other models? Do friendships develop or is there a lot of competition?

Antonia: We tend to develop friendships. I was just in New York and met really great new people and fell in love with them. I had the best time there with them. I get very little of the competition.

FIV: You are the envy of many young girls. You’ve already had an impressive career path at your young age. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Antonia: In 5 years, at 24, I’d like to go to university… and maybe I’ll still be living in my 4-girl flat-share.

FIV: What modeling campaign or job would appeal to you in the future?

Antonia: Of course I would be very interested in Victoria Secret or a Chanel campaign.

FIV: What advice would you give to other models to start their career?

Antonia: I would advise young girls to finish school first.
