Anja Gockel at Frankfurt Fashion Week: Highlights of the summer collection, fashion show & Co!
Anja Gockel at Frankfurt Fashion Week – Sustainability. Joie de vivre and freedom. That’s what German designer Anja Gockel stands for in person. And that is exactly what is reflected in her summer collection this year. As the first and only live event of this year’s Fashion Week, Anja Gockel’s fashion show was considered the highlight. The motto of her summer collection: The beach is under the asphalt – a fashion show of the extra class breathtakingly staged on the Ehrenhofterrasse of the luxury hotel Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof.
Anja Gockel summer collection: The beach is under the asphalt
With her motto, the Mainz-based designer picks up on the dualism between freedom and control, where society’s tightly meshed structures seem to collide with individuals’ love of freedom. “Especially in recent months, we have come to know as never before the struggle between self-determination and restrictions,” says Anja Gockel. And it is precisely these contrasts that can be found in her collection. The fabrics are light and airy and, in typical Gockel style, elegantly hug the wearer’s body. At the same time, geometric rigid cuts and warm, lively colours predominate here.
With the Ehrenhofterrasse of the Hotel Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof in the center of the city, Anja Gockel had chosen an elegant yet quiet location. Here, too, the motto remained the focus. Instead of an extravagant catwalk, the asphalt of the courtyard itself served here.
Unique fashion show in a class of its own: dancing models and voluminous cuts
For Frankfurt Fashion Week, the German financial metropolis was not only a hotspot for national haute couture and prêt-à-porter, the fashion week also had a lot to offer in terms of music and dance. Choreographed by Lia Kemendi, the models danced across the cold asphalt to the warm light at the end of the catwalk. In other words: get out of the rigid structures of everyday life and head for the beach, where freedom awaits you – a Gockelian metaphor for joie de vivre and freedom.
“Why not look to ourselves for freedom, in our own lives – not focusing on what can’t be done, but solely on what can.” – Anja Gockel
