Marc Cain : from Italy to Germany
The company was founded in 1973 by Helmut Schlotterer in Carpi, Italy. A few years later, the headquarters was moved to Bodelshausen in Baden-Württemberg, where the company is still located today. Even today, Marc Cain produces a large part of its collection there and is one of the region’s largest employers. The focus remains on high-quality products that evoke emotions in the consumer. Like his father’s company, Marc Cain has also specialized in knitwear, which remains one of the main competencies.
3D Printers and Vibrant Colors
Marc Cain places great importance on his knits. That is why Marc Cain has one of the most modern knitting machine parks in Europe. He already invested in electronically controlled knitting machines in the 1970s. In 2013, 3D Knit & Wear was introduced. Here, garments are purely programmed in a 3D printer and a finished product comes out of the knitting machine. Digital printing allows different materials such as cotton, leather or wool to be printed. Marc Cain uses his own reactive dye for this, which allows particularly vivid and brilliant prints. The dye does not just remain on the surface of the fiber, but forms a permanent bond with it. This makes Marc Cain particularly unique.
