Oscar Night 2024 was a celebration of the art of film that shone with emotional acceptance speeches, impressive performances and high-caliber winners. New construction housing: Green building for new ideas

Urban development project of the city of Cologne

Kreuzfeld, or WoodHood is the result of a new urban development project of the city of Cologne. The ambitious 80-hectare project was penned by the planning team led by ADEPT and Karres en Brands (Plan and Landscape) in collaboration with Argus (Mobility) and Metabolic (Energy).

Mayor Henriette Reker convinced

Their project design for a green city convinced the committees as well as Mayor Henriette Reker and is now to be implemented. Wood Hood is more than a classic garden city. According to the developers, the new district requires a new approach to planning, rethinking the connection between city and nature, landscape.

Green urban development: “Back to nature”.

Instead of defining the new urban structure through buildings, streets and technology, WoodHood’s urban layout builds on the landscape, surrounding forests, use of water, play with the sun, planting and local conditions. True to the motto: Back to Nature! For many who want to live close to nature while enjoying the benefits of the city, perhaps a reason to move to Cologne.

Martin Laursen (partner of ADEPT): “The whole process of developing the new district in Cologne-Kreuzfeld, WoodHood, was carried out with a view to the future and in dialogue with numerous local stakeholders (…).”

She goes on to say:

“WoodHood is a new kind of city that focuses on collective communities in close relationship with nature.”

Goal: Jobs, open spaces

The goals of the new district are clear: Strengthen the north of Cologne! Numerous new residential units for up to 8,000 residents are to be created on a total of 80 hectares. In addition to new jobs, the focus will be on multiple-use open spaces, social, cultural and educational facilities.

Structure, hoods, use of space

WoodHood is not intended to be just an extension of the existing city, but a neighborhood in its own right that is adjacent to the others through innovation, sustainability, and village-like community. The district consists of 5 individual hoods, each with its own character and individual function. The main focus is to promote community and collective and shared functions, with the goal of minimizing private space and strengthening the quality and use of public spaces. WoodHood will provide versatile opportunities for activities and recreation.

Climate protection & infrastructure with water storage

In addition to social coexistence, Cologne Kreuzfeld promotes climate protection, ecology and water storage through open green spaces and a complex ecosystem. The infrastructure and mobility network is also more differentiated and makes the use of bicycles and walking more attractive.

Henriette Reker (Mayor of Cologne): “The selected design is in line with our great ambitions and high standards, because we want to launch a particularly innovative, sustainable and multi-layered urban development and open space concept.”

Further, she said stressed:

“(…) We also place high demands on the topics of environmental compatibility, energy efficiency and sustainability.”

Winner Season 16: Alex Mariah Peter

On May 27, 2021, transgender model Alex Mariah Peter was chosen by Heidi Klum as Germany’s new top model. But after the victory, it became a little quieter around Alex. There followed some posts of the 23-year-old on her Instagram account, in addition, she also got herself a job for Kylie Jenner, but you did not really get much from the supermodel. Winner Season 3: Jennifer Hof

Germany’s Next Topmodel contestant and winner Jennifer Hof was the youngest candidate in the third season. The then 16 year old schoolgirl stood out mainly because of her size. Jennifer is 1.81 meters tall and has legs that are 1.13 meters long. She was able to impress the jury with her performance in the casting show and was crowned the winner of the third season of GNTM. As the winner of the third season of Germany’s Next Topmodel, she was signed by the model agency IMG Models for two years and after her victory, she was featured in the fashion shows of Talbot Runhof, Philipp Plein, Marcel Ostertag and Perret Schaad. 6 years after her successful participation in GNTM, the model announced that she was ending her career as a model and is now a mother of two.

Boris Entrup left the jury just one season later, but was still given guest appearances in which he gave the models make-up and hairstyle tips. The second season of Germany’s Next Topmodel with Barbara Maier, Anni Wendler and Hanna Nitsche

In the end, Barbara Maier, Anni Wendler and Hanna Nitsche made it to the final. This year there were two star appearances. One was by none other than Marquess and the other was by the then very popular girl group Monrose. In the end, the jury decided in favor of the pretty, red-haired Barbara Maier. As a result of her victory, the second up-and-coming model, just like first winner Lena Gercke, received a small car, a contract with IMG Models and Face your Brand, and she was featured on the cover of Cosmopolitan shortly afterwards. In addition, there was a C&A advertising campaign.

The victory in the second season of GNTM was the starting point of a mega career for Barbara Meier: The beauty is still extremely successful as a model and actress. She stood in front of the camera for brands like Pantene Pro-V and C&A and even had a cooperation with the fashion magazine Vogue. For her acting career, she trained at the New York Film Academy and has since appeared in many different television and film productions.

But also Hanna Nitsche got a contract with IMG Models and is successful photo and catwalk model, as well as her media presence is very much in demand, among other things, she was in a music video of the music band Marquess was seen. After that she moved to New York to really take off. While Anni Wendler as second place unfortunately went out of the show without a win. Also Fiona Erdmann, the fourth placed, who was eliminated one episode before the final, got a contract with MGM Models and is now a successful model. Mandy Graff, who also placed fourth, got a contract with East West Models and is a successful presenter in her home country, Luxembourg. Eighth-placed Aneta Tober was accepted by the model agency Mia Models and wants to take off internationally! GNTM: Germany’s Next Top Model

On GNTM, a jury consisting of Heidi Klum and jurors from the media and fashion world who change every year searches for Germany’s new top model. Thousands of young girls apply every year to become Germany’s Next Topmodel. The candidates have to compete against their fellow contestants in unique shoots, exciting challenges and castings for clients such as Gillette Venus, Opel and About You in order to take first place in the end. The winner of the season has been on the cover of the German Harper’s Bazaar since 2018; before that, the winner graced the cover of the German Cosmopolitan.

Winner Season 4: Sara Nuru

Sara Nuru, Mandy Bork and Marie Nasemann made it to the finals. Germany’s Next Topmodel contestant Sara Nuru not only took part in the eighth season of the popular casting show, but stood out from more than 18,000 applicants, making Sara the first black contestant to win the casting show in 2009. After winning Germany’s Next Topmodel, the then 19-year-old student became the face of the new campaigns of the clothing company C&A and the cosmetics company Maybelline Jade. She also appeared on the cover of the August issue of the German-language lifestyle magazine Cosmopolitan. Together with Heidi Klum and the other two finalists, Sara Nuru shot a commercial for the fast food chain Mc Donalds. After her victory at GNTM Sara ran on many different shows in London, Milan, New York City and at the Berlin Fashion Week. Designers or fashion labels she works for include Guido Maria Kretschmer, Gant, Cesar Galindo NY, Custo Barcelona and Roberto Cavalli. Since 2018, the German model has been an ambassador for sustainable development for the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Winner Season 14: Simone Kowalski

Simone Kowalski – The winner of the 14th season of GNTM. She received a model contract with the model agency Oneeins fab Manmagement under the direction of Heidi Klum’s father, as well as prize money of 100,00 euros. The highlight: she adorned the German June/July issue of Harper’s Bazaar. But what distinguishes the winner? The answer is quite clear: the smile is her trademark, which is why she also calls herself “Simi Shine”. But she was not really happy after her victory, as confirmed by her cryptic lines under her Instagram post in which she spoke of mental slavery.

Winner Season 1: Lena Gercke

After a long time of worrying and thinking about who would be the first Germany’s Next Topmodel, Lena Gercke finally won. Her victory earned her a small car, a contract with the model agency IMG and Face your Brand. She also made the cover of the German Cosmopolitan. Lena is still super successful today: Lena Gercke is not only active as a model, she has already been seen in the German GQ, among other things, but now also as a presenter on the ProSieben casting show The Voice of Germany. In addition, the multi-talent has founded her own fashion brand Leger, where she sells sustainable and high-quality fashion.
