Jil Eileen: Her life traveling around the world

FIV: As can be seen in your Instagram feed, you have already seen and traveled to many countries. Which of these destinations have been your favorite so far?

Jil: Phew that’s a very difficult question, I’ve already traveled to 63 countries and each one had something special in its own way. I couldn’t decide where I liked it best, I would go to every country I’ve been to again.

FIV: On social media and on your website, you talk almost exclusively about travel. How did you develop this passion? What excites you most about traveling?

Jil: I’ve always been very adventurous and loved getting to know new places, cultures and people. In 2018, I quit my job and set off alone with a backpack to travel the world. Even before that, I had always planned my days off and vacations so that I could travel as much as possible, but once I had traveled full-time, I was hooked. What excites me most about traveling is discovering new places, feeling the freedom and being myself.

Happiness is the only thing that doubles when you share it, so why not share what makes me happy with you!

FIV: You are only 26 years old and still very young. How do you finance your many trips? How frugal are you and do you have any tips for our readers on how to travel the world cheaply?

Jil: I saved well in advance for my year solo trip around the world, I had 3-4 jobs at the same time and was really hard-working. So I was always able to put a lot of money aside. It’s very important to always keep in mind that ‘every little helps’. This applies to saving and spending. Before you save nothing, save at least something. Then it may take longer to reach your target amount, but you will still reach your goal. And when it comes to spending, it’s the other way around, if I think ‘oh, that’s only €5’ for every little thing, then that can be quite a lot at the end of a trip. I always write down every € I spend on my trips to get an idea of how much the trip has cost me so far. If I’ve budgeted well then I can treat myself to something, if I haven’t budgeted well then I can just eat oatmeal for 3 days I’m now self-employed and can live off my travel blog and online store, instead of working hard and saving up in advance I now travel and work in the meantime.

A day with Jil: adventure or relaxation? Mountains or pool?

FIV: What does a perfect day on vacation look like for you? Are you more of an active person or do you prefer to take it slower? Chilling by the pool or climbing in the mountains? What type of vacation are you?

Jil: I am the active traveler, I love hiking, climbing in the mountains, surfing at the sea & have so many ‘bumblebees in my butt’ that I always want to do something. Of course I also like to lie by the pool or the sea, but that tends to happen between activities.

FIV: What has been your most exciting experience on your travels so far? Was there ever a particularly exciting event or did you perhaps undertake an unusual activity? Paragliding, bungee jumping or something like that?

Jil: I have experienced a lot when traveling but the first activity that comes to my mind is a hike in Hawaii. The Olomana Trail, also called ‘Three Peaks’. A very dangerous hike that gave you an absolute adrenaline rush and was just so much fun, even though you were pushed to your limits.

Germany tour: route, tips & what the country has to offer

FIV: A few months ago, you and your boyfriend went on a tour through Germany. How did you come up with this idea and how did you plan the tour? Was there a fixed route or did you set off spontaneously?

Jil: We’ve already seen so much of the world but not yet our own country. We wanted to change that, so we did a lot of research and looked at everything Germany has to offer. We thought about a route in advance and then drove to the places we had picked out. I sometimes went with my boyfriend, but sometimes with friends too.

FIV: Tell us something about this tour. Which destinations did you head for and which sights did you want to visit? Would you have thought that Germany has such beautiful places to offer?

Jil: I have to admit, I underestimated Germany! I never thought I would see such amazing places in my own country. We went hiking on the Moselle, in the Black Forest and in the Palatinate Forest, we discovered stand-up paddle boarding on Lake Constance, we went swimming in the lake at Eibsee in Bavaria and we couldn’t stop being amazed in Saxon Switzerland. At the age of 25, I made it to the German seaside for the first time

FIV: As you can see in your Instagram feed, you went camping and slept together in the car. What was it like for you to live in such a small space? Would you do it again and recommend it to others?

Jil: It wasn’t a problem for me, you just get to know each other better and bond more. We furnished our car a bit with a topper on which we slept, hung curtains on the windows to darken it a bit and have privacy, and decorated it a bit comfortably. Apart from that, we of course had a gas stove and everything we needed for camping In the beginning or to get out spontaneously, the car is the perfect alternative. In the meantime, we have converted a van, moved in and are traveling through Europe.

Insider tips & goals for the future

FIV: Where was the best place? Do you have an absolute insider tip for us? A special place, a sight or perhaps even a secret route?

Jil: I liked Saxon Switzerland best, the landscape there is really breathtaking and you can go hiking for days and always see something new

FIV: What is your absolute dream destination for the future? You’ve already seen a lot of the world. Is there still a country or perhaps even a specific place that you dream of visiting at some point?

Jil: There’s a lot to be honest, but Namibia, the Philippines, Peru and Sweden are at the top of my list.

New chapter in life: Jolina’s emigration to Mallorca

FIV: Hello Jolina, we are glad that it worked out with the interview today. You have a lot going on right now, because you just emigrated to Mallorca with your boyfriend. How are you doing at the moment and have you been able to settle in a bit in your new home in this short time?

Jolina: Hello, thank you very much for the nice interview. I’m really doing very very well at the moment, the last few months have been very intense and exhausting due to all the planning with the emigration. Of course, this must be well thought out and considered. A few days ago, our things from Germany have arrived in Mallorca and it is getting more and more comfortable in our new home. Therefore, we are now settling in faster and faster and it is becoming more and more beautiful.

That’s why Jolina and her boyfriend moved to Mallorca!

FIV: Has emigrating always been a dream of yours and what inspired you to do so?

Jolina: If someone had asked me a few years ago if I could imagine living somewhere else than in Hamburg, I would probably have answered no. When I met and fell in love with my boyfriend Dominik Bruntner about 2 1/2 years ago, I moved to Stuttgart after a 3-month relationship with him. Since we both have the same job and have always been on the road a lot, we thought about emigrating more intensively and finally decided to take this step. Thanks to our job, we can work from anywhere and we wanted to take advantage of this opportunity.

In Mallorca the model has found her new home

FIV: You currently live in Mallorca, could you imagine living in another country for a while? Apart from Mallorca, which place would be particularly appealing to you?

Jolina: As a model, I have been to many countries, even for a few months at a time. I think we found our home in Mallorca. But for modeling I would go again for several months in another country. But only together with my boyfriend. Which is of course also possible, since we both work as models. We have some countries in mind in which we would like to spend a longer time, if the opportunity arises.

FIV: Of course, you have to completely refurnish your home in Mallorca. Do you have any tips for our readers on what to look out for so that the interior design looks cozy and harmonious?

Jolina: I like it bright with subtle colors. I stay in the beige and pink tones. Beautiful green plants also belong for me in every room.

GNTM Highlight: Entry into the final!

FIV: You now work successfuly as a model and are active in social media. However, many still know you from the 9th season of GNTM. Which experiences from your GNTM do you still remember fondly today?

Jolina: I generally remember my GNTM time super fondly, it simply remains unforgettable. I can still remember the pick-up quite clearly. Thomas Hayo suddenly stood in the classroom and told me I was in, pack your bags and off to Berlin. But the best experience is definitely my entry into the final and of course the final itself. Even though I only came second in the end and didn’t win the show, the whole project was simply wonderful and unforgettable. I still drive my Opel Adam, which I won in the show, and I like to think back to that time.

Jolina’s tips for aspiring models

FIV: Soon the new season of GNTM will start, what tips do you have for the aspiring candidates?

Jolina: Just stay the way you are. Don’t pretend and concentrate on the essentials. Quarrels have no place on the set.

FIV: As a successful model, what would you say are 5 qualities you need for a successful modeling career?

• Definitely self-confidence.
• Self-employment.
• You have to be able to deal with criticism, being a model is not always easy.
• Don’t be afraid of change, you’re often thrown in at the deep end and need to know how to handle the situation.
• Discipline. Your body is your capital, so must be very careful about it.

FIV: Finally, a short look into the future, we are curious what you have planned in the near future: Do you have big plans like a move or something similar or is there something special coming up? Give us a little teaser of what your fans and followers can look forward to in the near future!

Jolina: I won’t be moving again so quickly. But there are some cool projects coming up in the new year, but I don’t want to give too much away yet. Stay tuned and be curious.

Relationship, Travel, Home – News from Nina’s life

FIV: Hey Nina! We are happy to welcome you for a follow up interview! Travel and faraway countries are your world and we would love to dive into that world with you in this interview. But first, let’s start with a little review. Three years have passed since the last interview with our magazine. Give us a little insight: What was your personal highlight of these last 3 years?

Nina: Thank you so much for asking me again for the interview! I’m totally looking forward to the report, it was super, super nice last time. My highlights of the last few years…I can’t really generalize that much. There were a lot of great moments. Everything has somehow remained the same, I’m still together with my boyfriend, which makes me very happy and that for almost 9 years now. That is already a huge highlight for me, to be able to say that after the 3 years now again or still say. Among other things, I was able to travel a lot with him in 2019 and I also traveled quite a lot on my own, which was an absolute highlight, including the trip to Tokyo. I totally fell in love with that city! That was actually already one of the highlights of 2019. But overall, it’s a big highlight that I get to travel so much. I don’t think I’ve ever traveled so much in my life. From Dubai to Tokyo to Bali so really just criss-crossing back and forth across the world. That was my absolute highlight and I think I will never forget this year.

Then 2020 there was actually also a highlight, of which actually no one knows what, then I can drop it times at the point. I bought a property here in Oberembt with Dean, which is a huge highlight for me because it means that we will settle down together even if we don’t get married or have children, that is of course a nice big step for me that I feel absolutely ready for and yes that happened in 2020, in return we couldn’t travel much. And because we couldn’t travel, that’s kind of the counterpart where I would have thought I kind of still need time for that, but kind of after traveling so much in 2019, it was nice to be here for a change. Our hands were kind of tied and bang there has been an opportunity and since we of course directly grabbed. That was with the biggest highlight in the last 3 years.

A fresh start with a new course of study – “Best decision ever”.

FIV: A few years ago you changed your direction, finished your architecture studies and started to study management in the field of marketing and digital media. Are you still satisfied with your choice of study and how far are you with your studies?

Nina: That’s right, I dropped out of my architecture studies, which was the best decision I ever made! The second study, where I’m actually in the last semester now, I’ve pulled through and I’m having an incredible amount of fun! The subject matter I’m dealing with there is one on one with what I’m doing now with Instagram as well. It’s kind of totally interesting to see what it’s like behind the scenes. So not just doing Instagram, but also how it all works and why it works that way and that’s helping me a lot.

I think I will definitely stay in the industry. I’m curious to see what will happen at some point. As of now, I don’t even know what I’m going to do afterwards. I enjoyed it so much, I will probably do a master’s degree. Let’s see what time brings.

Secret of happiness: time with family and friends

FIV: Whether you’re traveling or at home, it doesn’t matter if it’s an absolute dream location or your own private bedroom. When you get up in the morning, what makes you happy?

Nina: Actually, I think you can guess after the last interview that I know that I just have such a great family. That I have the best friends. That I know that they’re there. I don’t know, I’m happy when I know: Tonight it’s going to my parents or it’s going to friends.

I look forward to shopping with my grandpa alone. If you follow me on Instagram a little longer, you know we make our shopping trip every week. I’m thankful to still be able to do everything with him. Since he almost went blind, it’s even more beautiful to see how grateful a person can be. Yes, that is actually the most beautiful thing for me. When I wake up in the morning to know that I have my loved ones around me. No matter if they are my friends or my family. That’s just amazing!

Majorca dreams and charity plans in Africa

FIV: As we know, your heart is set on Mallorca, you even wanted to emigrate there at some point. What is the current status? Do you still want to spend the next few years in Germany?

Nina: The plans to emigrate to Mallorca just stay! I think that’s a dream we’ll fulfill someday when we’re older. We have a little bucket list, Dean and me. We have already said to ourselves that if we achieve everything we want to achieve in Germany, then comes the house in Mallorca or a small Finka or if it’s just a caravan somewhere in the wilderness of Mallorca. Then that would be cool that we can always go there.

But as already said in the first question: We have now bought a beautiful piece of land here, which is really dreamlike and there is now the priority first to build on it, to create our own home. We are super lucky with the property, because it is directly in the village where we live now. It’s right next to Dean’s parents, Dean’s aunt and a lot of friends live here. You actually know the whole village from us and it’s just so perfect. It’s like a storybook for me from us because I know even if I stay here for the next 30 years: I have everyone around me as long as my parents still move here and my grandpa but I will still manage that.

FIV: The last time you spoke to us you expressed the wish to travel to South Africa and start a charity campaign there. Have you pursued this idea in the meantime and is it still on your to-do list?

Nina: That was always a big wish of mine and it still remains! It’s not finished yet either. In fact, this year I would have had a great opportunity to travel to Uganda and support a great organization there. Corona threw a huge spanner in the works and unfortunately it couldn’t be done, but I hope something like that will come up in 2021 or 2022, I’m definitely open to anything!

Bali, Mauritius, Japan & Co. – Future destinations

FIV: You’ve already ticked off Tokyo, Bali and New York on your travel list. Which countries and cities would you like to visit soon?

Nina: I think I could talk about it for three hours now, because the list is almost endless, because for me travelling is simply the most beautiful thing in the world. So I love being here, I also need my homepoint, but it’s also nice to immerse myself in different cultures. That’s why I could talk for 100 years about the next destinations where I absolutely want to go. But on top of my priority list is definitely to explore Japan a bit more! I’ve only been to Tokyo so far and there are so many incredibly cool places! For example, there are places like Okinawa: It looks like the Caribbean, parts of Okinawa or Nagano, you can just ski and look at snow piles.

There are so many corners of Japan I’m dying to see and that’s definitely one of my next travel goals to pursue. And otherwise yes Bali is also back on top of my bucket list. I don’t know, I just miss that. That was just such a beautiful experience.

Then we had planned for this year actually also Mauritius. We have booked everything…yes unfortunately has not taken place. There I would also like to go again in any case. So, these are the three destinations: I would like to do in 2021, if it should finally go times.

Anna’s tips for more self-confidence & the perfect photo

FIV: Many girls dream of being as fashion-conscious as you. Long coats, black boots and trendy bags: These are the outfits your followers love you for! How did your affinity for fashion develop and what influence does fashion have on your life?

Anna: I used to be one of those kids who always liked to dress up, so I had fun slipping into different roles through fashion from an early age. My taste in clothes has always grown with me and has constantly evolved. Fashion and an outfit I feel comfortable in gives me self-confidence.

FIV: Besides having a good fashion sense, it’s important to know how to present it properly. What are your tips for the perfect Instagram photo? How do you find the best photo spots and what do you look for when posing?

Anna: The most important thing besides good light is that you feel good. In my opinion, you see that extremely on pictures and benefit from a completely different charisma. It’s best to think about which pose goes well with the outfit beforehand. I usually choose beautiful old town backgrounds for my pictures.

Cooperations with trend brand NAKD, Justfab and Freddywear

FIV: Besides NAKD, you’ve also advertised brands like Justfab or Freddywear on your Instagram account. We would be interested to know what has been your most exciting collaboration so far and why?

Anna: NAKD is one of the most fitting collaborations for me, because I used to love buying my clothes there myself and you always discover the latest fashion trends there. Collaborations that are connected with video shoots and events are especially exciting.

FIV: You don’t just become a successful influencer overnight. With over 160 thousand followers, you’ve really achieved something! How did your career on Instagram start and what is your tip for other girls who want to make their dream as a blogger come true?

With a lot of stamina to the Insta-star

Anna: I never started on Instagram with the intention of making money with it and I didn’t even know that it was possible back then. I just always had fun being in front of the camera and more or less slipped into the social media world. Nowadays, many want to become bloggers/influencers and build their own reach on Instagram. The key to success here is consistency and perseverance. It is essential to deliver daily content and stay on the ball, otherwise you will be poorly listed by the algorithm. It’s also important to be authentic, because in my opinion, people can tell if someone is really passionate about something or if they are just looking for a way to make money.

FIV: To stand out on Instagram, you have to be interesting. How do you think you stand out from other influencers? What are your best qualities and what do your friends & family like about you?

Anna: My friends and family appreciate that I always stay true to myself and am therefore authentic.

Matthieu Areau – Creation of Anna’s own brand

FIV: A few weeks ago you made the announcement of your own first brand: Matthieu Areau. What motivated you to start your own bag brand and what is the philosophy behind it? Are there any other interesting projects planned in the near future? We would be happy if you could tell us something.

Anna: I have always had a preference for beautiful designer bags and also have one or the other in my small collection at home. But sometimes you just pay too much for the name and the bags are not affordable for everyone.

With Matthieu Areau we want to bring high quality and durable bags with a timeless design to the man. We believe that quality is becoming more and more important for today’s generation and that there is a general rethinking in society. More and more people are paying attention to sustainability and longevity when buying their products. This is exactly the zeitgeist we want to meet with our leather goods.

We offer a fair price, use southern German quality leather and produce in the neighboring Czech Republic, only 150 km from our adopted home Regensburg. We are currently planning the launch at the end of November and can hardly wait. Please have a look at our website: www.matthieuareau.com

Despite studying and Instagram enough time for the boyfriend?

FIV: Being an influencer can be more demanding than many people think. Is the platform your main job, or do you do something else on the side? What do you like to do most in your free time?

Anna: Together with my boyfriend and manager, I’ve been doing social media more or less full-time for about two years now, but I’m also studying business administration in my 5th semester at a university. In order to get everything under one roof, I have to structure my day well and always plan everything through. For many people it looks like little work, but it takes a lot of time every day. In my free time, I go to the gym a lot and also like to meet my friends in the city for a coffee.

Shay Mitchell’s house in Los Angeles

The 33-year-old actress decided four years ago to settle down in a glamorous 1920s house on the West Side of Los Angeles. The property is known for its Mediterranean style, which is characterized by round entrances, colored tiles and open spaces. Shays goal was to design the house exactly to her taste: cozy and unique. But not only she, but also partner Matte Babel and daughter Atlas share the Spanish-inspired villa. The actress worked with numerous interior designers to make her dream house come true. But none of them could convince Shay as much as her friend and stylist Chad Wood, who arranged suitable pieces of furniture for her. He knew Shay’s taste and knew that she had a soft spot for old pieces of furniture. The 30-year-old has a special eye for decoration and visited various vintage stores to make the Canadian’s villa perfect. Her love of traveling, as well as a lot of already existing furniture should be included in the design of the house.

Chad Wood: Friend, Architect & Stylist

But Chad Wood is not only known as a stylist. He is also famous for his talent as an interior designer, which he demonstrated at Shay Mitchell’s house. For the actress Chad is also her best friend, stylist, florist, painter and even as a cook he helps the brunette. He selected numerous decorative items and furniture for her. Among them are an old tree stump that serves as a side table, round wooden lamps and a dark green velvet sofa. The designer made almost all his finds in the LA Pop Up Home Store. This is a vintage boutique for home furnishings, from golden candlesticks to giant wooden cabinets.

Characteristics of the house

The property of Pretty Little Liars is limited to a large entrance area, a kitchen, a dining area, two living rooms, a room for her own small bar, her bedroom as well as her daughter’s, several bathrooms and a cozy outdoor area including a swimming pool. Another highlight of the house: the numerous small balconies that line the inside of the property. All these rooms have a Moroccan or Spanish flair, which Shay likes very much. It makes your entire home feel cosy and at home. The character of the house abounds with uniqueness, which the Canadian is more than proud of. Until the birth of her daughter, the house was often rearranged and redesigned: The then dark red wooden floor was bleached and the fireplace painted white. Now, new decorative items often trundle in, but the basic finishing touches to the house are done! Perfect timing, right?

House Tour: A tour of Shay’s estate

In the entrance area the huge chandelier immediately catches the eye. It has a total of 450 kilos of crystals and is enthroned in the middle of the room. High green plants line the area and the high ceiling, as well as the vaulted entrances give the entrance area the finishing touch. Turquoise tiles on the stairs underline the Moroccan flair of the house. White painted walls and golden doorknobs complete the design of hab. The chandelier was probably owned by Shay for quite a while, but he never knew how to hang it up correctly. Now it found its place here. On we go to the living room of the actress, of which she owns two!

The living room

Shays living rooms have one thing in common: they are both unique. While one is more in darker colors, the other shines in light tones. Sexy and cosy: Shay Mitchell proves that this is possible. Grey painted walls, high bookshelves and a dark green velvet sofa are the heart of this room. Once again characteristic are the round entrances and high ceilings, which also give this room a Mediterranean style. The books in the individual shelves, sorted by color, give the living room a certain order, although at the same time it looks a bit messy. Many cozy living accessories can be found in Shays rooms, including colorful decorative cushions, numerous candleholders and small plants. Meanwhile, her other living space is characterized by a fresh, bright appearance including golden details. Several vintage pieces have found their place in this room, like a giant marble table or a lamp that Shay got from Morocco.

The kitchen

Shay Mitchell’s kitchen radiates a sense of security: tiled walls, dark brown wooden furniture and many lamps fill the room. A cooking island and a huge refrigerator are essential for the 33-year-old. Everything was refined with golden details and once again many small plants.

“I remember that the agent sent me a link, and I realized the kitchen was the same that I had saved from years before”,

she said. After her agent showed her some photos of her current house back then, Shay realized that it had the dream kitchen that she had hung on her bulletin board a while ago. This was a sign for the brunette to choose this house. Although she repaired some parts of the kitchen equipment, it did not lose the character it had at the beginning. This room also has many windows, which make the kitchen seem much bigger.

The bedroom

Shays and Partners Mattes bedroom is different from the other rooms. Here the two decided to keep it rather simple. So they did without a lot of decoration, so that the individual objects of the room are better shown to advantage, like the huge box spring bed. A golden mirror attracts attention, as does the side bed of the small alto, which is a must for the family. Once again, a few plants should not be missing to give the room more harmony. Light beige painted walls and a large carpet in front of the bed complete the design.

The room of the common daughter resembles Shays and Mattes bedroom. The walls painted in old pink make the room look very cosy. The actress is more than enthusiastic about the reading corner on the balcony and the picture wall above Atlas’ bed. Photos of her and Mattes vacations together should make the room look more personal.

The outdoor area

Palm trees, big trees and a green meadow invite you to spend a lot of time in Shays garden. Also the colorful tiles on the pool and walls definitely attract attention.

“I don’t really utilize my outdoor space as much as I would like to”,

Shay admitted. But after investing in an outdoor pizza oven she hopes to spend more time there soon. Because why not? An outdoor pool lined with a fountain and several comfortable sunbeds on the lawn definitely invite you to relax!

The actress definitely has a unique taste! Shay is not only happy with her house, but also with her family.

Since the age of 14 in the model business

Quite banal, the 14-year-old girl from the US state of Illinois was discovered by a model agent on a horse farm and has been living every girl’s dream ever since: model. In Europe, the 17-year-old girl wanted to emulate her idol Gisele Bündchen and work for the famous IMG model agency. Smaller jobs in the early stages turned into big jobs like advertising for well-known brands à la H&M, Lancôme or Intimissmi. This is how she achieved her childhood dream. She is still grateful to her discoverer, the photographer Jim Jordan, to this day.
