The coolest events in Germany 2019
The year is still young and also this time many exciting events await us in 2019, from big music festivals like Parookaville or Rock am Ring to exciting light spectacles like Rhein in Flammen. FIV has summarized the top events you shouldn’t miss this year.
Japan Day Düsseldorf #1
As every year, more than half a million visitors are expected to visit Düsseldorf on Japan Day in 2019, where the city’s large Japanese community and all other nationalities interested in Japanese culture meet. Numerous stands are set up around the theme of Japan, delicious specialities and in the evening a big Japanese fireworks display follows. So it’s 25.05.2019 to the Düsseldorfer Rheinufer – admission is of course free.
The Africa Festival #2
Now it’s off to Bavaria. There the Africa Festival will take place from 30.05.2019 to 02.06.2019. The Africa Festival is considered the largest and oldest festival of African music and culture in Europe. Numerous great stars of the African music scene are driving it to Würzburg. In addition to the music programme there is also a varied supporting programme with a photo exhibition, bazaar, fashion show and many other great extras. Tickets are already available from 8,00 €, so you don’t have to spend much money for a cool experience.
Rhine in flames #3
You want a little romance for a change? Then enjoy the beautiful view at the event “Rhein in Flammen”. At the most beautiful places along the Rhine, for example in Bonn, Bingen, Koblenz, Oberwesel and St. Goar, the fireworks event Rhein im Flammen takes place like every year. The beautiful light spectacle always changes its location. The tour starts on 04.05.2019 and ends on 21.09.2019. Admission is also free here.
Carnival of Cultures #4
The Carnival of Cultures is considered to be one of the most famous events in the German capital. From 07.06.2019 to 10.06.2019, there will be a colourful tour around the Blücherplatz. This year, for the 24th time, the multicultural, huge street festival attracts thousands of actors from all over the world and over 100 bands and DJs to the streets of Berlin. A relaxed atmosphere and a lot of fun are pre-programmed.
Nights on the banks of the Elbe #5
A change from the Karnval and just relax for a lap? There would be the film nights on the banks of the Elbe of a great idea. Instead of going to the cinema, you can watch a few films with your friends here at the Uft der Elbe in the middle of Dresden. The open-air cinema will be open from 27.06.2019 to 25.08.2019. The entrance fee for 5 persons is 34 €.
Bochum Total #6
Also known as the mother of all inner city festivals – Bochum Total. For over 32 years, Bochum’s city centre has been the festival site once a year. This year, too, no exception will be made. Start is 04.07.2019 until 07.07.2019. For four days the shopping streets and the pub district “Bermudadreieck” will be transformed into a huge festival area with many big and small stages. True to the motto “free of charge and outside” Bochum is total for everyone.
The Oktoberfest 2019 #7
Open the wardrobes and take out the traditional costumes – it’s time for the Oktoberfest. The world-famous Oktoberfest once again attracts millions of people from all over the world to Munich. Dirndl and lederhosen are worn as tradition demands, and lots of beer. Even big celebrities from all over the world come to Munich every year. The starting signal is 21.09.2019 until 06.10.2019. So off to the Munich Festwiese.
