Attersee via ferrata Mahdlgupf: climbing in nature

The via ferrata directly at the Attersee is for experienced climbers a great opportunity to make a challenging climbing tour with a fantastic view. The tour is steep and demanding and therefore only suitable for experienced climbers and not for beginners. The via ferrata is varied and consists in between again and again of steep downswings and the rope anchorages are partly far apart, which makes the via ferrata partly strenuous and particularly challenging. You have partly an overwhelming view over the Attersee. The entire tour takes 5.5 hours and you overcome 800 meters during the tour.

The hike starts at the parking lot at the bridge to the Nixenfall near Weißenbach am Attersee and the climb to the Schoberstein takes about one and a half hours. The hike is leisurely, but climbs throughout, it goes through stony path and largely through the forest. Since the route is partly steep and at the top is also walked over rock, the route is rather unsuitable for small children, but doable with older children. Since a large part of the trail leads through the forest, the hike is also suitable for particularly sunny days.

Tip 1: Hiking for explorers

Do you love the freedom of the mountains and being on the move at lofty heights? Then the Herzogstand mountain is just right for you! The parking lot at the edge of the mountain allows you an easy approach by car, but the mountain is also easy to reach by public transport. If you have made the ascent and now want to experience another highlight, buy a ticket for the Herzogstandbahn. The view of the lake is breathtaking and you can recover from the climb. In addition, the cable car is a perfect alternative for families whose children are too young for long hikes. You can enjoy the view in any case! In addition to the Herzogstand, there are many other mountains around the lake, such as the Heimgarten and the Jochberg.

Tip 2: Leisure time in and around the water

Kitesurfing, surfing, sailing and diving – there is something for every water sports enthusiast here. Experienced kitesurfers have chosen the Zwergern Peninsula as the best entry point, which is not yet recommended for beginners due to the somewhat treacherous winds. Hopfensee – facts & attractions at the lake

Lake Hopfensee is located in the district of Ostallgäu, Bavarian Swabia, Bavaria. With a maximum length of 2.5 kilometres and an average depth of 10 metres it is a relatively small lake. This does not mean, however, that one can see or do little there. The journey to the Hopfensee is worthwhile alone because of the indescribable view. Understandable why it is also called ‘Allgäuer Riviera’. Actually the Hopfensee is known as an air and Kneipp spa. The quiet location, the fresh air and the lukewarm water in the lake is really inviting. Already in May you can throw yourself into the coolness after a walk at the lido, because the allegedly “coolness” has the advantage that it belongs to the warmest pre-alpine lakes.

The Hopfensee is a lake with a maximum length of 2.5 kilometres and a circumference of 6.8 kilometres. It had an average depth of 10 metres and with an area of 1.94 square kilometres it manages to attract thousands of tourists every year.

The lake lies about 6 kilometres north of Füssen in the district of Ostallgäu, Bavarian Swabia. In the north flysch mountains and in the west the drumlins of the ground moraine hills border the lake. As a result of the melting process of the Lechvorland glacier, the Hopfensee is a relic of the northwestern bay of the late glacial formed Füssener See.

At the Hopfensee you can have a lot of fun depending on the weather conditions. A walk takes about two hours at a comfortable speed. The 4-kilometre hiking trail ends at the lido, where you can either take a bath, sunbathe on one of the numerous sunbeds or linger in the shade on one of the benches. For the swimmers there are shower facilities, a swimming island and a ladder. For sports fans there is the possibility of kitesurfing, as well as sailing. Renting a boat at the Hopfensee is very worthwhile, because in the middle of the lake there is the perfect opportunity to fish in peace. So you do not have to worry about what is eaten today. The Lechfall is an approximately twelve-metre high, full-width overflowing dam on the Lech River on the southern outskirts of Füssen.
