Professional teeth cleaning (PZR) is one of the most important preventive measures for healthy teeth – but the costs are not usually covered by statutory health insurance. What does a PZR really cost, what are the annual costs and when is supplementary dental insurance worthwhile? New from us: Your comparison portal on dental insurance One. But what is it all about? Why is it important?

What does professional teeth cleaning cost?

Beautiful teeth! The cost of a PZR varies depending on the practice, complexity and region. On average, patients should expect the following prices:

Simple PZR: 50 to 80 euros

Comprehensive PZR (with airflow, polishing, sealing): 80 to 150 euros

Initial treatment (lots of tartar, risk of periodontitis): up to 200 euros

Dental cleaning is recommended at least once, preferably twice a year. Two appointments cost between 100 and 300 euros per year – depending on the practice and the condition of the teeth.

What does the GKV pay?

Statutory health insurance (GKV for short) does not generally cover periodontal cleaning as a standard service. There are only exceptions in the case of medically necessary periodontitis treatment (PAR treatment according to findings). A purely preventive prophylactic cleaning is a so-called individual health service (IGeL) – the patient pays for it themselves.

When is supplementary dental insurance worthwhile?

Supplementary dental insurance usually reimburses 80-100 percent of the cost of a dental cleaning. With two PZR appointments per year and an insurance premium starting at 10 euros per month, the policy pays for itself through prophylaxis alone – not to mention dentures, crowns and orthodontics.

If you would like to compare the costs and reimbursement of professional teeth cleaning in detail, you can find a detailed guide on zahnzusatzversicherung.one – including an overview of which tariffs reimburse 100% of PZR and do not require a waiting period.

PZR procedure: What happens during cleaning?

A typical PZR takes 45 to 75 minutes and comprises several steps:

Diagnostic findings: periodontal status, gum depths, bleeding index

Removal of tartar and plaque: With ultrasound and hand instruments

Polish: removal of discoloration (coffee, tea, nicotine)

Airflow (optional): Powder jet device for stubborn deposits

Fluoridation: Hardening of the tooth surface, protection against caries

Nutritional advice: tips for dental care at home

PZR and supplementary dental insurance

Here are the most important points in brief:

GKV does not pay for PZR – except for medically necessary PAR treatment

Average costs: 60-120 euros per appointment, 1-2× per year recommended

Good supplementary dental insurances reimburse 80-100 % of the PZR costs

Tariffs without a waiting period are particularly attractive for immediate protection

Annual premium often lower than the PZR costs saved

Conclusion: If you regularly have your teeth professionally cleaned, you should not bear the costs alone. Good supplementary dental insurance already pays for itself with the professional dental cleaning – the cover for dentures and orthodontics comes on top.

Speaking of which, this is how the stars do it

Perfect teeth? They don’t always come from professional teeth cleaning. Especially those who are often in front of the camera rely on so-called veneers. We ventured behind the scenes and gained an insight into a practice where celebrities usually have their teeth treated.

Veneers

Straight teeth? There is a solution for this too, for example:

Invisalign

Portfolio of your financing: folder for the bank

Banks receive financing requests for real estate on a daily basis. To ensure that your request goes through as quickly and smoothly as possible, you should make sure that your documents are in order. For this purpose, we recommend two folders that you can hand over to the bank.

Folder for the Bak:

Folder: Credit rating

Folder: Object

Object folder: summary of the data

We have listed everything you need for your object folder so that you are guaranteed not to forget anything.

General data: Exposé and photos of your object

First of all, there should be a synopsis or a fact sheet in your folder, on which all basic data of the object are noted. In addition, the bank should get a visual impression of your building or your apartment, whereby the submission of photos is very important.

What you need first:

Real Estate Exposé/ Fact Sheet

Photos of the apartment / building

More specifics: Parcel map, floor plans & insurance

In addition to the general facts about your dream property, you should have the site plan, the floor plan and the cadastral map ready. On the cadastral map you will find official key figures, which are defined in a limited accessible register (real estate cadastre). Furthermore, you need an excerpt from the land register , which determines the respective ownership and living conditions. Other important documents are the building insurance and the energy certificate. If you buy your property as an investment, you should include the lease agreement.

Other documents you will need are:

Parcel map and site plan

Floor plans

Living space calculation

Land register excerpt

Building insurance

Energy certificate

Rental agreement

Condominium case: details of the entire property

When you buy a condominium, you are automatically part of a community of owners and therefore have to attach other plans to the entire property. This includes the declaration of division, which contains the agreements between all owners, as well as other plans of the building. In addition, the minutes of the last owners’ meetings are an important part.

Documents in the case of a condominium:

Declaration of division – with certificate of seclusion

Collection of resolutions – last 3 owners’ meetings

WEG manager contract

House service charge statement

Property tax notice

Last document: The draft purchase agreement

Last but not least, the bank will be happy if you already have a draft of your purchase contract. If this exists, you add it as the last document in your real estate portfolio.

Draft of the contract of sale

The next step: contract of sale of your apartment

Your dream property has been found!

Dog insurance – Your dog gets sick? Your dog has an accident? Your dog is bitten by another or breaks something in your own home or in someone else’s house? At the latest now you need a dog insurance. All first questions, costs, providers you will find here! Whether you have a mixed breed dog, Labrador or Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, Yorkshire and Jack Russell Terrier or even a Miniature Spitz and Australian Shepard – there are two types of insurance: The dog health insurance and the dog liability insurance.

Health insurance and liability insurance

You’ve bought your first dog, but you don’t know which insurance to choose?

Important question:

How to insure a dog?

The 2 types of insurance for dogs

As already described in the introduction, there are basically two insurances for dogs:

Health insurance – insurance against costs incurred due to illness

Liability insurance (optional) – insurance protects against the financial burden of damage claims

Just as with us humans, one thing is important: basic protection. This includes health insurance, should there be unplanned, higher costs, such as an operation.

The bigger your dog, the more you should think about liability insurance. This is not even about your dog biting someone, but also about general small damages that can occur at any time. For example, when playing in your own home or in other people’s homes.

Dog insurance: My + Alternative

I looked through all the comparison portals, all the calculators and finally decided on Agila, because it was also recommended to me by other dog owners. Here you have everything so far, including the cost coverage for medically necessary operations.

Agila animal health insurance

Agila liability

A good alternative is also Petplan.

Petplan

Also when playing with kids.

Is dog insurance compulsory?

None of the insurances are obligatory. So you are free to decide whether you want to take out health insurance or liability insurance for your dog, you are not obliged to do so.

Compulsory? No

What should insurance offer you?

If something happens, then especially the processing of damage reports should go quickly. Free choice of veterinarian is important, so you can choose freely, for a good veterinarian in your area, more tips on this later!

This is what a good dog insurance should be able to do:

Fast processing of damage reports

Free choice of vet for you

Suitable and comprehensive insurance cover

Precaution included

Discounts for two or more pets

Cost of insurance: month and year

Now for one of the most important questions:

What is the cost of insurance for a dog?

Of course, all services, providers and conditions are different. Here is a first overview.

How much does dog health insurance cost?

For a typical dog insurance you pay, of course, depending on the provider, between 5 euros and 18 euros per month. The respective premium amount depends primarily on which benefits you want to claim for your dog. A second important factor is the deductible. Do you want the costs to be covered completely or do you want to pay a part yourself? Depending on this, the prices are therefore between 5 euros and 18 euros.

Health insurance starts at 5 euros / month

Most expensive insurance at about 18 euros / month

So in a year, as a dog owner, you can expect to pay a triple-digit amount for insurance.

As a rule: 3-digit amount / year

Cheap (less power) from 60 euros / year

Expensive (more power) up to 216 euros / year

How much does dog liability insurance cost?

The premium amount of the dog liability insurance depends mainly on your desired sum insured. With 10 million euros of damage, you pay about 4 to 5 euros per month.

Liability insurance about 5 euros / month

Annually thus round about 50 euro – 60 euro, depending upon offerer of the dog adhesion insurance.

Liability insurance 60 Euro / year

Also for fighting dogs. As described, it depends on the amount of insurance.

Do I need health insurance for my dog?

Insurance is there to cover costs that, in case of doubt, exceed one’s own budget. An operation with follow-up costs, is in the four-digit range. Small matters at the vet cost 50 euros to 200 euros. If you can easily pay such amounts, it theoretically works without dog insurance. The small monthly amount protects you from larger costs.

The dog insurance is comparable with an own health insurance. Of course, you try to stay healthy, for years nothing happens and then suddenly comes the moment when you may have to rely on health insurance. Hospitalization, the operation, medications,…. If you can afford to pay 20,000 or 30,000 euros out of your own pocket, in theory you don’t need insurance. In practice, however, it saves you from a big cost shock with a small monthly amount.

My mistake: locked too late!

My mistake was that I took out the insurance too late. So I still had to pay for the first treatments myself.

When should I buy insurance?

You should take out dog insurance at the same time as you buy your dog. If you want to buy a puppy, for example, many insurance companies already cover the first vaccinations and deworming.

For example, I made the mistake of first paying for everything myself and then 3 months later I registered the dog insurance. Of course, this way I had to pay for the first vaccinations and deworming, with a visit to the vet, myself. In total, the cost for my puppy was about 240 euros for all appointments. Money, which I could have saved directly!

You can easily buy the insurance online, you also need only a few data from your dog, for example, the color of the coat, the breed and the weight.

Animal and veterinarian

Who can be insured?

What breeds of dogs are insured?

All dog breeds can be insured, whether German shepherd, dachshund, rough-haired dachshund, Labrador and golden retriever, dwarf spitz or even poodle and boxer. So it doesn’t matter which dog you buy, because every breed can be insured.

The most popular dog breeds are mainly:

Mixed breed dogs

Labrador Retriever

Golden Retriever

German shepherd dog

Yorkshire Terrier

Jack Russell Terrier

Beagle

Chihuahua

Australian Shepard

German boxer

What animals can be insured?

Of course, not only dogs can be insured. If you also have a cat or a rabbit, you can insure them as well. Tip, if you register a second pet with an insurance company, you often even get a discount. The most common pets that are registered with a pet insurance company include:

Dogs

Cats

Rabbit

How do I find a good veterinarian?

My tip for finding a good vet nearby: Just ask other dog owners you will meet everywhere on the street.

If you need to find a vet quickly, take a look at Google Maps. Here you will find markers, so you can see directly how far away the vet is, as well as reviews from other users. So if the vet already has 30, 40 reviews and they are over 4.5 stars, it should be a good, reputable vet for your little dog.

Conclusion: Insure your dog!

Now you’ve really learned a lot when it comes to dog insurance! Here are my recommendations again. If your bank account isn’t bulging and 4-figure bills don’t shock you, you may not need insurance. But if you’d rather pay a small monthly amount and be covered, you should opt for insurance for your dog!

Dog insurance: My + Alternative

I looked through all the comparison portals, all the calculators and finally decided on Agila, because it was also recommended to me by other dog owners. Here you have everything so far, including the cost coverage for medically necessary operations.

Agila animal health insurance

Agila liability

Petplan is also a good alternative.

Petplan

Basic equipment dog: checklist

Not only the right insurance for the dog, there is more to the basic equipment.

No matter what breed of dog or what type of mixed breed, there are exactly 6 things you need when buying your first dog or puppy! So to speak, the basic equipment for your puppy and the first days together in the house or apartment. With this checklist, you have everything important!

Investment life insurance – life insurance can be divided basically into two types, the term life insurance and the capital-forming life insurance. Life insurance stands out above all as the best protection for partners and children (term life insurance). But they can do even more, for example, build up assets for old age (endowment life insurance).

Life insurance: Explanation

We’ll answer your questions:

How does life insurance work?

How useful is life insurance?

Can you cash out your life insurance?

What is the difference between term life insurance and endowment insurance?

For whom does life insurance make sense? By taking out a life insurance policy, you as a saver are not only providing for your own old age, you are also providing financial security for your family.

For whom does life insurance make sense?

Depending on the personal family and occupational status, different life insurance policies come into question.

Young families – term life insurance if the main earner fails is provided for all

Self-employed – endowment and term life insurance for family and any outstanding loans (company, property, etc.)

Employee – endowment insurance with the advantage of asset accumulation (as a supplement to the later pension)

Private risk protection is indispensable for everyone who does not go through life completely alone. If you have children, a spouse or other close relatives, life insurance can provide protection. Even if you’re building a home or starting a business, you should make sure your loved ones are taken care of if the worst happens.

Why does this make sense? If you should die, your relatives can, for example, pay off the loan for the house or the children’s education can continue to be financed.

Advantages

Capital Security

Protection for surviving dependants in the event of death

Asset accumulation (for endowment insurance)

The cost of the insurance you take out depends on your individual objective for cover and on the agreed term.

Tip! Due to the current low-interest phase, a unit-linked life insurance policy is recommended.

Interest rate development of life insurers

Here you can see the current interest rate of life insurers in Germany from 2000 to 2019.

Source: Statista

Let’s take a closer look at the key differences between the two types: Term and endowment life insurance.

Endowment life insurance: protection and asset accumulation

If you should reach a high age, you can save for later at the same time with a capital-forming life insurance.

With an endowment policy you can protect yourself or save money for old age, keyword retirement provision. A life insurance policy with a savings effect does both at the same time, is relatively inexpensive and yields a return.

It is ideal for you if you want to protect your surviving dependents or you want to build up assets for your old age. In addition, there are tax benefits for the life insurance but also some interest (albeit low for current new contracts).

Endowment insurance is protection for surviving dependants

It builds up assets for your old age (later payout)

Costs: On average from 50 euros a month (600 euros a year).

Term life insurance: protection also for loans

With term life insurance, you can protect your loved ones above all. Term life insurance protects your next of kin financially in the event of your death. The conditions are affordable for everyone and are available on average from providers for as little as 2.30 euros – 2.85 euros / month.

Term life insurance is perfect for you if you want your survivors to be fully covered (example: purchased house, remaining debt must be paid in order not to lose the house). Tip. The term life insurance does not only cover the credit of a real estate, all credits and loans are secured by it.

Costs: On average from around 2.50 euros a month (30 euros a year) with 100,000 euros sum insured and 10-year contract term

Capital accumulation and disbursement

For those who see life insurance not only as risk protection but also as a financial investment, the conditions of the payout are of particular interest.

One of the most important facts when it comes to the later payout. The payout of the life insurance only has to be taxed slightly. This makes it particularly interesting for supplementing your own pension later on.

How much you get in the end depends on the individually concluded insurance. Parameters such as age, term, sum and health play a role. If you are a smoker, for example, you will pay a significantly higher premium than non-smokers.

How is the life insurance premium calculated?

Age at conclusion of contract

Term (especially for term life insurance)

Health

Sum insured
