GNTM – Winners and their successes

The highlights from 13 seasons of GNTM! Here I have compiled a list of the winners of all seasons and found out who has remained successful beyond GNTM.

Season 13 – Toni, The Tough one

After GNTM winner Toni secured the title on 24 May 2018, the winning streak is not yet over for her. At the Berlin Fashion Week Toni runs for Michael Michalsky and Lana Müller. Toni’s also trying to be an influencer on Instagram. She now has 182,000 followers on Instagram and her community is growing steadily. In her Instagram photos, the 18-year-old is particularly often seen posing with her former GNTM rival Julianna.  This is Toni’s Instagram for you.

Season 12 – Céline, The Quiet

Céline was very reserved during the season and was rather less noticed. But she still passes everyone in the finals. Céline remains successful after its victory in 2017. She is now under contract with the agency “Elite Model”. Three months after her victory at GNTM, she left HeidiKlum’s OneEins agency. In the meantime, the 20-year-old is really successful, she ran at the Paris Fashion Week in spring. She is even allowed to present the collections of the luxury brand “Balmain” on the catwalk. Céline does not neglect their Instagram account either. She has 362 000 loyal followers on Instagram and entertains with images from her fashion and private life: Céline Instagram.

Season 11 – Kim, The Ambitious

In 2016 Kim Germany’s next became a top model. Not much has been said about her since. The 22-year-old did run for the Berlin Fashion Week, but afterwards she is more likely to attract attention with her private life. During the season she was particularly noticed for her relationship with Alexander Keen, also known as “Honey”. Her boyfriend, who is a model himself, often tried to join Kim in the spotlight.  He did not make himself particularly popular and shortly after the final it was over with them. Kim Instagram.

Season 10 – Vanessa, The Versatile

The then 18-year-old Vanessa Fuchs won the title in 2015. Following this, it is successful on two tracks. She has not only established herself as a model, but also sees herself as an influencer. She now has 289,000 subscribers and keeps her fans informed about her life:Vanessa Instagram.

Season 9 – Stefanie, The Natural

If you talk about which of the GNTM winners is the most successful after the final, Stefanie Giesinger is definitely one of them. At the age of 17, she prevailed against her competitors in the final. She is not only popular as an influencer, but has also managed to assert herself as a model. She already had many jobs, among others for Opel, she ran at the Belin Fashion Week and did a covershooting for the Cosmopolitan. Stefanie Giesinger with her 3.4 million subscribers is also at the top of the list as an influencer. What could be the reason? Stefanie acts quite naturally in front of her fans and doesn’t pretend. Season 8 – Lovelyn, The Sweetness

After Lovelyn’s GNTM victory in 2013, she was hardly reported. After she had won, the 16-year-old first of all caught up with her Abitur. However, the 22-year-old has not completely withdrawn from model life. She takes model jobs from time to time, for example for Breuninger. Season 7 – Luisa, The Industrious

Luisa won the race in 2012. After she had won, she moved to New York to really take off as a model. There she got many jobs and developed further. Luisa even took part in the New York Fashion Week. In the meantime, however, the 23-year-old is living in Munich again and would like to develop further here. Her big goal is to be allowed to run on a Victoria Secret Show once. Can she do it? Season 6 – Jana, The Reasonable

Who still remembers the GNTM winner Jana from 2011? Three years after her victory, the pretty blonde worked in her modeling profession. Meanwhile she does this only by the way, she has several bakeries and models only by the way. Why turn away from the dream job of many girls, many would ask themselves now. Jana admits in an interview with the magazine stern that she considers the model world to be superficial and that only isolated cases in this area make the big money. Season 5 – Alisar, The Beauty

Alisar was after her victory in 2010 an example for someone who made a real career. After she won, she ran first at London and then at New York Fashion Week. Here she was even booked for 17 different fashion labels. Alisar is contracted by international fashion agencies and does countless jobs in New York. Season 4 – Sara, The Goodhearted

Sara Nuru. The then 19-year-old winner of the Castingsow has already stood out at that time. She’s just doing modeling now, by the way. Sara has a very good heart and through her nuruCoffee, founded together with her sister in 2016, is committed to women who need support to lead a self-determined life. It has also become the face of uberGREEN and is therefore committed to the environment. Because with uberGREEN you can be on the road with electric cars. On Instagram, beauty is still active. Season 3 – Jennifer, The Mommy

The 16-year-old winner from 2008 could not complain after her victory. Many catwalk jobs followed, among others by the designers Philipp Plein and Talbot Runhof. 6 years later Jennifer said goodbye completely to model life. She became pregnant, is now a mother of two and is training as a tax clerk.

Season 2 – Barbara, The Exceptional

The second pretty GNTM winner Barbara is contracted by a model agency called IMG Models after her victory, followed by an advertising contract and a job for Cosmopolitan. But that wasn’t all by a long shot. She advertised C&A, Mc Donalds and the Pantene Pro-V hair care range. But Barbara is not only successful when it comes to being a model. In the meantime she is also an actress and played in several movies. You’ll probably be hearing from Barbara for a long time. Season 1 – Lena, The Successful One

The first GNTM winner is by far the most successful of all. After she has won, Lena finishes her Abitur. After that she gets a lot of jobs in the big fashion metropolises like London and Milan. From 2009-2012 the blonde will present “Austrias next Topmodel”. In 2013 she was a member of the jury for “Das Supertalent”. Lena also hosted many other television shows, such as “The Voice of Germany”. Since 2013 the model has hosted the star magazine red. Lena Gercke is under contract with countless model agencies worldwide. Her work as a model is incredibly popular. Lena Gercke is a real star in Germany. For four years Lena was together with the soccer player Sami Khedira. After that she actually wanted to marry her friend Kilian Müller-Wohlfahrt, but the two have separated again. In episode 5 it goes high up for the girls. The candidates have to pose on a swing at a height of 10 meters. Facial expression and body tension have to be perfect. Now the model candidates have to show what they are made of! While girls like Fata and Taynara succeed at the first go, especially Lara from Team Michael has a hard time. She is very afraid of the shooting and even bursts into tears. Heidi’s summary after the shooting: “One team was a little bit better than the other team! And that was “Team Black”! And for “Team Black” there is a reward. You can pack your bags.” For “Team Thomas,” you’re going to New York. But “Team Michael” doesn’t go away empty-handed either: “Team White”, you’ve done a good job too. But it’s not going to New York, it’s going to Miami!”. Screaming and full of joy, the girls make their way to the airport.

After arriving in New York, the girls of “Team Schwarz” have to start again immediately, because a casting is coming up. The young music and fashion magazine “Indie Magazine” is looking for models for a photo spread and cover shoot. The magazine is known for its fancy fashion editorials and photo series with famous photographers. Each candidate must briefly introduce herself and strike crazy poses in Polaroid photos. After a short discussion, the clients decide on Jasmin, Taynara and Julia. Immediately afterwards they go to the next casting. The customer is the fashion magazine “Fashion Avenue”.

A very glamorous magazine, which is especially known for its extravagant accessories. Here, too, models are wanted for a photo spread and the cover. At this casting there is a very different atmosphere. The rather calm and strict cuddles unsettle many of the girls. In the end Elena C. Fata and Elena can convince of themselves. The next day the shootings start. The theme of the shooting of “Indie Magazine” is the “Prom”, the prom at the end of high school in the USA. The 3 model candidates, Jasmin, Taynara and Julia, have to shoot with male models, which is especially hard for Jasmin. She is worried about her boyfriend, who is at home in Austria: “I am very sad that I have to trade in my King. I don’t like to do that. It was a very unpleasant situation!”. But all 3 girls convince the customers. At last the 3 candidates shoot together for the cover of the magazine. A few streets away the shooting for “Fashion Avenue” takes place. Elena C., Fata and Elena have to strike elegant poses and facial expressions for the photo shoot on motorbikes. At the end of the shoot, the customers decide that Elena will grace the cover of the next issue of “Fashion Avenue”.

It’s off to sunny Miami for “Team White.” Michael picks up his girls for sports. He tests the athleticism of the candidates, because fitness is part of being a model! Especially Yusra and Lara have big problems and seem very listless. After jogging on the beach, a surprise awaits the girls. The editors-in-chief of the famous fitness magazine “Shape” are waiting in a park. There the model candidates are to do yoga exercises and prove their athleticism. The customers examine each girl very closely and finally decide in favor of Luana. During the feedback, Yusra in particular is criticized for her listlessness. In the evening after the shooting Michael talks to Yusra about it. But she blocks and answers annoyed: “I don’t want to talk now!

The next day Luana goes to the big photo spread and cover shoot for “Shape”. Also this time the young model can convince the customers of herself. Shortly afterwards, Michael calls his girls in to give some of them tips. Michael: “We can learn a thing or two from “Team Thomas”! Kim is criticized for her shy nature. She has to learn to bring out her personality better. Michael: “I always have the feeling that Kim is surrounded by a kind of shell, a husk, and that we haven’t seen her true core yet. She is said to be taking a cue from Jasmine, who is strongly putting her personality out there. Another time, Yusra is criticized for her listless and often negatively attuned nature. But unlike Kim, Yusra doesn’t see her mistake: “I always take criticism, but I don’t and won’t take this criticism because it’s just not true!” and runs off to her room in a huff.

The war is on. In the 5th episode of “Germany’s Next Topmodel” two girls clash violently. Jennifer is angry because Fata is always praised and gets jobs. She confesses in tears: “It just pisses me off. No matter which shooting, it’s always: Fata is the best. And then she says it like that and I just think it’s sad. I mean, if you’re really the best, you should keep that to yourself, because I always think to myself: What am I there for, if she can do everything anyway?” But Heidi has no sympathy: “Of course it’s a pity if you’re not taken. But that’s no reason to burst into tears!”. At the shooting for “Fashion Avenue” Thomas takes all his girls with him and the conflict takes its course. Jennifer is jealous and angry: “If she was a punching bag, the punching bag wouldn’t survive!”. But Fata doesn’t let that affect her and puts on a great shoot.

The weekly decision is coming up again and this time it’s going to be fiery. In tight, sexy outfits and with extravagant hairstyles, the girls have to walk on a catwalk surrounded by fire. The jury is supported by guest judge Eva Cavalli-Düringer, a fashion designer and wife of Roberto Cavalli. This week, two girls from “Team Thomas” had to say goodbye. For Laura and Jennifer the journey was over at this point. Fata, who had a big fight with Jennifer before, feels no pity: “I don’t see why I should go there now. It’s just krama.” But that doesn’t remain the only drama that night. When Laura returns without a photo, Jasmin is totally horrified and then considers leaving the show as well. Mentor Thomas is totally shocked: “You can’t do this to me. You’re breaking my heart!”. After a long conversation with Jasmin, Thomas manages to persuade the 20-year-old to stay.

Next episode- Hot shootings and lots of drama

In the next episode of “Germanys Next Topmodel” it gets hot, because the girls have to shoot with male models. During the walk training there is a bad fall and the decision walk is completely different than usual, because the girls have to “fly” over the catwalk. In addition, Yusra’s lackadaisical nature again leads to major conflicts and Jasmin again has great fear of contact.

“After 10 years of GNTM, we’ve done a lot of great makeovers. But I think that today was the most crass day ever,” Heidi said at the beginning of the fourth episode. And so it came to pass: the girls stood in front of the mirror for the last time and now had to say goodbye to their look for good, because radical changes were called for. What is probably one of the highlights of the show for the viewers turns into a tragedy for many of the contestants. Especially Laura-Franziska, Lara-Kristin and Kim have to try very hard to keep their composure, because Heidi has come up with something very special for the three: a short haircut.

Especially Kim has to struggle a lot with this decision. She already feared for her hair since the last decision. Heidi’s announcement that she would get a short hairstyle made it worse and made Kim burst into tears. For her it was clear: “I feel really ugly afterwards, I know that!”. But Heidi is not willing to compromise. It’s quite clear: You’ll get a makeover or you’ll go home. After many tears and discussions the girls finally agree to the makeover. Michael: “Soon we sink in a valley of tears!”

Newly styled it goes for the girls again in front of the camera. The sedcard shooting is coming up, where a “headshot” and a “full body shot” is taken of the girls. While Laura-Franziska and Kim are slowly getting used to their new hairstyle, Lara-Kristin still has big problems with her short hair: “I’m still unhappy with my hair. Well, I don’t think it suits me at all.”. Luana, who is usually in such a good mood, also has problems at the shoot. She found fault with her figure in the photos. Heidi: “What a head the girls always make. I don’t understand it.”. Despite some tears and complications, star photographer Max Montgomery was able to shoot many suitable sedcard photos of the girls.

The Perfect Shot Challenge.

A video message from mentors Thomas and Michael reaches the girls the next morning. The next challenge is on the agenda. Different than usual: for the first time, the girls have to take care of their styling themselves. Thomas via video message: “Team Thomas. I hope you are ready for the day. Today we have a fast-paced challenge. The special thing about it is that you have to style yourselves. Imagine you’re going to a really cool Hollywood party and you’re going to get dressed and put on make-up for it.”

Arriving at the location Michael explains again exactly what it’s all about: “Imagine you are on the way to a Hollywood party and on the way you are flashed. So get in the car and take cool poses, because whoever wins the challenge is automatically one round further. No one is going to be told twice and each contestant strikes very creative poses. The decision is anything but easy for Michael and Thomas. In the end, Lara-Kristin gets the “wild card” and is thus secured for the decision.

The weekly decision is coming up and it’s going to be extremely elegant. The girls have to walk in haute couture. Above all, the pose at the end of the walk must sit perfectly. But not without help, because the transgender model Andreja Pejic serves as support. She helps the girls before the big walk and gives many tips on the extravagant running style. While many girls deliver a perfect walk, especially Jasmin has a hard time. The jury is anything but enthusiastic. Thomas: “I still have to think about something so that Jasmin really does justice to her look!”. Nevertheless, she makes it to the next round. For candidate Cindy, however, it was not enough this week. She was one of the weakest in the shooting and also her walk could not convince the jury. So jury member Michael lost another girl from his team.

In the next episode of “Germany’s Next Topmodel” it goes high up for the girls. A shooting in 10 meters height. Some of them will probably get scared. In addition, it goes for the girls on another casting and the next job can be snatched. There is a lot of stress between the girls and Jasmin even wants to fly home. That can be cheerful!
