Doll Cheek Trend and 90s Brows

FIV: Tell me Ellen, is there a product that you have recently come to know and love?

Ellen: I’ve had the popular Rare Beauty Liquid Blush on my wish list for a very long time and now I’ve finally tried it and I’m thrilled. I wish I had bought it sooner!

FIV: Since you’re talking about blush, what do you think of the doll cheek look à la Sabrina Carpenter?

Ellen: I love it! Actually my favorite blush placement as it looks very cute and makes my face look slimmer. Maybe the comeback has something to do with the fact that Asian make-up techniques are becoming more and more popular. But that’s just a guess! I’ve also been getting tired of the “lifted face” look lately.

FIV: As we all know, fashion trends keep repeating themselves over the years. At the moment, 90s skinny brows are back in fashion. The ultra-thin eyebrows form a stark contrast to the“laminated statement brows” that have become increasingly popular in recent years.

Ellen: I actually haven’t dared to try the 90s skinny brows yet, and I probably never will as they wouldn’t suit my face. However, I think they look beautiful on many others and are something different after the laminated brows trend.

The perfect make-up for everyday life: highlighting your own features

FIV: What is your personal favorite way to apply make-up?

Ellen: Glowy skin, a bit of glitter on the eyes and glossy lips are my go-to look! Glitter is also a must for me in everyday life, it gives me self-confidence.

FIV: Are you also a fan of eye-catching statement lips or do you prefer to stick to nude shades?

Ellen: Something in between, but more in the nude direction. My favorite combination is a nude lip liner with a soft pink, mauve shade!

FIV: And how do you feel about the “Bare Beauty: Less is more” philosophy?

Ellen: I personally think it’s beautiful. I like to experiment with lots of make-up from time to time, but mostly I create make-up looks that beautifuly emphasize my own individual features.

Daily makeup and product recommendations

FIV: Do you have a favorite product that you can’t do without in your make-up routine?

Ellen: The Skin Lovin Sensitive Concealer from essence is my absolute favorite product. I really use it every day. It has a medium coverage that you can build up quite well and a texture that doesn’t cakey or dry out on the skin and looks very natural.

FIV: What is your favorite make-up accessory and why?

Ellen: The blending tassels from Korean Cushion Foundations are the best for blending concealer and foundation. Better than any beauty blender. Super thin, soft, easy to clean and they come in many different shapes and colors.

FIV: Which products and techniques do you think are crucial for long-lasting make-up and why?

Ellen: Technique: Don’t apply too much product. A thin layer of foundation or concealer, for example, still looks pretty good at the end of the day and doesn’t get cakey so quickly.

But beware. Blush definitely lasts better if you use a liquid or cream AND powder version. More is more here. Products: Lots of fixing spray and a good primer. Both ensure that the make-up lasts a long time AND looks good.

How to create the perfect summer look

Preparation & Primer

Before any makeup, it is important to prepare the skin for it. What to look for and what are the best ways to make make-up last longer?

The basis for an even look is a suitable facial cleansing and subsequent moisturizing. This will make your skin glow and your make-up will last better than without such preparation. Make sure you choose the right products for your skin: do you have dry, oily or combination skin? If you’re not sure, you can get a skin analysis done in a beauty studio or store – it’s often free. Before you apply your makeup, make sure your brushes are clean – is there any residue from other eyeshadow colours or is there already too much makeup collecting on my foundation brush or sponge? Then it’s high time for a thorough cleaning! That’s enough every one to two weeks, so that the bacteria don’t collect in the brush and you don’t put them on your skin again every day.

When applying make-up, there are a lot of things to consider: does the colour match the skin tone? Does the foundation have a suitable consistency for my skin? These and even more questions come up again and again. Here you can find out what you should consider in your make-up routine!

Do’s

• You should always make sure – see the part about preparation – that you apply a proper care under your make-up. This way your make-up will last longer and your face will look more even because your skin is moisturized.
• Then you should make sure that your make-up matches your skin colour. It should not be too light and not too dark.
• Besides the color, the consistency also plays a big role: if you want a foundation that is not so heavy on the skin, then go for a more liquid consistency. If you want it to be very opaque and you don’t mind the foundation being a little heavier on the skin, then go for a slightly thicker foundation.
• You shouldn’t apply a thick layer of everything. It’s enough to apply a normal layer of foundation with some concealer, powder, bronzer, blush and highlighter. But you don’t always need that much – it’s up to you!

It becomes spicier and more oriental with Sì Passione. This relies on fruity pear, woods and jasmine absolute. This creates a fruity-floral, slightly oriental and spicy combination. This impression is reinforced in the Intense version. The Sì Fiori EdP is less fruity, but further appropriates the familiar sweetness. Much more floral nuances are sniffed out here. More powdery than its predecessors, it is also very suitable especially in summer. Vanilla also accompanies this perfume. But instead of thinking of candy apples, the thoughts wander here more in the direction of fluffy marshmallows.

Finding the perfect foundation match is not that easy, especially here, as Armani tries to cover all complexions and all undertones from light to dark, cool to warm. Finding the right skin tone is not the biggest task, as you can see swatches on real skin on the website. Finding the undertone of your own skin, on the other hand, becomes all the more difficult. However, this is especially important in order to actually buy the optimal match. There are several tricks to achieve this goal. But first it is advantageous to learn which undertones the skin can have at all:

• Warm (yellowish-golden, greenish veins)
• Neutral (balanced proportions of red, yellow and blue)
• Cool (pink, bluish, violet-bluish veins).

Of course, even without knowing your skin undertone, you can find suitable foundation by trial and error, but the knowledge helps. To determine the own undertone there are different possibilities. On the one hand, you can use gold and silver jewelry and try to identify which one flatters your skin better. If gold jewelry is more beautiful, then you have a warm undertone. If, on the other hand, silver fits better, the skin undertone will be rather cool. If you can’t tell the difference, the skin tone is neutral.
