Seville may not be the first city that comes to mind when you think of cannabis social clubs – but that’s exactly what makes it an insider tip. Away from the tourist crowds, you’ll find real local spots with an authentic atmosphere. Anyone on vacation in Seville should not only explore the old town, but also experience this relaxed side of the city. Did you know? In Germany, you can order cannabis online with a prescription. Back to: Social clubs in Spain.

What is a social club?

Here are the most important facts about buying cannabis in social clubs for your vacation in Spain. A social club in Spain is a private association where you can legally consume cannabis as a member. Registration is quick: bring your ID, pay 20 to 40 euros, be friendly – and you’ll be there in three to five minutes. The clubs are usually well hidden and look inconspicuous from the outside, but inside you can expect a relaxed place with music, Wi-Fi, a lounge feeling and a solid selection of strains.

Become a member directly on site

Prices: usually 6-18 euros per gram

10-20 different varieties, changing

Social vibe: WLAN, café atmosphere, relaxed

Sillicann Valley Social Club

Sillicann Valley is one of the best-known clubs in Seville and impresses with its modern, clean look and relaxed atmosphere. The selection of varieties ranges from classics to modern genetics. Ideal for a relaxing break in the middle of city life.

Name: Sillicann Valley

Varieties: regularly 15+, including Lemon Tree & Gelato

Location: close to the center, in a quiet side street

Good Gas Club

As the name suggests – here you get “good gas”. The selection of strains is small but fine. Kush varieties and fruity hybrids are particularly popular here. The club itself is rather cozy and is aimed more at locals than tourists.

Name: Good Gas Club

Strains: 10+, focus on Kush & Fruit

Location: rather hidden, towards Triana

7 Verdes 7 Marrones

The name translates as “7 greens and 7 browns” – which immediately arouses curiosity. This club is a real underground tip. Very informal, artistically decorated and with changing flavors, including classics such as Amnesia and Wedding Cake.

Name: 7 Verdes 7 Marrones

Varieties: changing, mostly 12-16 strains

Location: slightly outside the center

Weed in Seville – what is allowed?

The following also applies in Seville: cannabis may only be consumed in private rooms or social clubs. Anyone who smokes on the street risks a fine. You should therefore not take anything with you when you visit a club, but simply enjoy it on the spot.

The following applies to tourists: clubs decide for themselves who they accept – but with ID and an open smile, it almost always works. Some require an invitation, others accept spontaneous visits.

Consumption only permitted in the club or at home

Public ownership is illegal

Registration for foreigners possible

Social clubs in Spain: cannabis & cappuccino

You see, social clubs like this are something completely different than just a way to get weed. It’s about getting to know other people, having a cappuccino with friends – not just in and out, but also taking 15, 20 minutes or even an hour. Madrid, Barcelona to Mallorca and Ibiza, you’ll find the best ones here:

If you are on vacation here and looking for moments of pleasure, you will find real insider tips between the marina and the old town. Important: The clubs are usually inconspicuous from the outside – you have to know where you want to go. Then it’s really easy: show your ID, be friendly, become a member – and off you go. Did you know?
What is a social club?

There is often also a barista or snack offer. Ideal for digital nomads, vacationers or simply a relaxing afternoon.

Perfect for a high-quality club visit on the Costa del Sol.

Mallorca is more than just Ballermann – especially if you know where to go. Hidden between mountain villages, beach clubs and tapas bars is a scene that few people know about: Social clubs. If you’re in the mood for relaxed vibes, stylish interiors and high-quality varieties, a trip to a club on the island is just the thing. All you need is your ID, a friendly smile – and the right address. Did you know? In Germany, you can order cannabis online with a prescription. Back to: Social clubs in Spain.

What is a social club?

Here are the most important facts about buying cannabis in social clubs for your vacation in Spain. Social clubs in Spain are private clubs where you can legally consume cannabis. No street sales, no stores – just protected, relaxed spaces for members. Registration is uncomplicated: On site, 20 to 40 euros, show your ID – and you’re in. In the clubs, you usually get 10 to 20 varieties to choose from, Wi-Fi, snacks, music – and sometimes real island charm. Quite different from the clubs in Germany, where the focus is only on cultivation.

Membership possible directly on site

Variety of varieties: from classic to exotic

Quiet, private atmosphere

Important: Know the club address, no sign outside

The High Class

The name says it all: “The High Class” is one of the most exclusive social clubs on Mallorca. You’ll find it a little hidden away – but if you know it, you’ll come back. The club boasts a stylish design, a quiet, almost luxurious setting and a small but fine selection of strains. Strains such as Amnesia Haze, Wedding Cake and Sunset Sherbet are particularly popular. The interior is more reminiscent of a boutique hotel than a classic weed club.

Name: The High Class

Varieties: premium selection, focus on quality

Location: Palma de Mallorca, slightly hidden

Weed on Mallorca – what applies?

The following also applies on Mallorca: cannabis is only permitted in private. This means no consumption on the street, on the beach or in public. However, you are on the safe side in the social clubs. It is important that you do not take anything with you, but consume it on site. Many clubs are open to tourists as long as you behave respectfully and become a member.

Consumption only in the club or privately

Take-away prohibited, no stores

Tourists welcome – with ID

Social clubs in Spain: cannabis & cappuccino

You see, social clubs like this are something completely different than just a way to get weed. It’s about getting to know other people, having a cappuccino with friends – not just in and out, but also taking 15, 20 minutes or even an hour. Madrid, Barcelona to Mallorca and Ibiza, you’ll find the best ones here:

Fashion brands from France: French fashion

Beret, striped shirt and red lipstick: the stereotypical symbol of French style is as characteristic as it is one-dimensional, because French style is much more. Above all, it is elegant, casual and uncomplicatedly individual. When it comes to fashion, our neighboring country France is ahead of the rest of Europe, and indeed the world. In the Grande Nation – especially in its beautiful and elegant capital – clothing is of great cultural and economic importance.

Fashion brands from America: American fashion

When it comes to fashion, America loves casual and uncomplicated. Whether it’s sports, work or leisure: everyday suitability takes precedence over extravagance. American fashion is characterized by a combination of timelessness, high identification value and relaxed casualness. The typical look is uncomplicated, unpretentious and therefore works well in everyday life. In the USA, fixed dress codes exist only in the business sector. Nevertheless, the typical U.S. look relies more on a certain conservatism and conformity than on experimentation and unconventionality, which characterize fashion in Scandinavia, for example.

On Facebook and Instagram, it is the most commonly used emoji.

North America responds with laughter, with ten countries using tears of joy and five using the more intense emoji with laughter on the ground . Nicaragua, the only country where neither tears nor a flag are the top emoji, uses the red heart most often.

Top emojis in South America

Guyana and Bolivia tweet the most national flag emojis in South America. Chile and Paraguay laugh at the most popular thing in the world (tears of joy) .

Travelbubi is an Instagram channel run by Julia on the topic of solo travel. Julia is just 21 years old and already inspires over 135,000 people on Instagram with her creativity and love of travel. She grew up on a farm and is now a passionate solo traveler. Her channel, by the way, was named after her bright red van, which she customized herself!

Solo Travel: Insights, Experiences & Tips

In this interview, she shares with us what motivated her to travel solo and gives us exciting insights from her time in Portugal. Julia tells us about her preparations, gives us important tips along the way and reports on how she dealt with the issue of loneliness on her trip. The ambitious Austrian already has the next project on the go, which she will probably also report about on YouTube from summer on – be curious!

Here you can find more from Julia:

From farm to experienced solo traveler

FIV: Hello Julia! Maybe you can introduce yourself very briefly in advance with your own words, so that our readers can get an impression of you. Who are you and what makes your channel?

Julia: My name is Julia, 21 years young, grew up on a small organic farm with four older siblings in Austria. Moved to Graz at the age of 15 to attend school with a focus on fashion & design.

I am a very creative person and love drawing or designing, sewing, photography and letting off steam creatively with videos to convey a message. Last spring I made the decision to take a solo trip to Portugal in our homemade vintage camper. It was a trip with no end date and full of uncertainty.

Instagram account as a diary

From day 1 of my journey, June 04, 2022, I have kept my Instagram account as my diary, which has allowed me to build a community of over 135,000 people around the world. Every day I am happy to inspire my community to travel alone, live life and follow their dreams.

In November, after 6 months, thousands of great memories and more than 8500 kilometers covered, I arrived back home. Currently I live out my love for interior design, because at the same time as my trip we, my friend Tobias and I, built our hemp / lime tinyhouse.

Van removal and choice of destination

FIV: On your Instagram you can see that you and your boyfriend built out and furnished the van yourself – how cool! What motivated you to travel alone and live in a van in the first place?

Julia: I grew up with this kind of vacation. My family went on vacation to Croatia every summer to enjoy the sea with a caravan and a red VW bus at various campsites. My boyfriend and I decided to buy our own camper in March 2019.

At that time, we definitely never thought that we would completely restore our “Bubi” just a few months later. We worked on it from the beginning of 2020 until summer 2021 and are very proud to have given our Mercedes L206D, which is now 48 years old, a new life.

Motivation for the first solo trip

When I decided to travel to Portugal last spring, the opportunity to travel with our van came in handy and it was definitely the best decision. What motivated me to travel alone? At the time I was at a higher technical school for information design, I also worked in a social media agency and lived in Graz with my boyfriend.

At the time, I convinced myself that everything was perfect, but I was missing my gap year, which I had planned for 2020 after my Matura. I could no longer concentrate on my studies, had the feeling that time was running out and was actually absolutely not happy with my situation. My boyfriend found his dream job at the same time, so it was clear, either me alone or not at all. I decided on the former.

FIV: Why did you choose Portugal? Have you been there before or was there something in particular that inspired you about the country?

Julia: It had been my wish to fly to Portugal for a long time and when my sister and current business partner invited me on a short trip to Lagos in February 2022, I was hooked. I decided while still there with a view of the sea and sunset that I would come back. I then fulfilled that very promise with my 6-month trip through Europe in July.

On top of that, on the flight home I met a girl from Porto, Portugal, with whom I talked the entire flight. This encounter strengthened my decision again. I then visited her in July for two weeks in Porto with our “Bubi”. It was a magical, unexpected meeting on a plane that definitely brightened and changed my life and the trip.

Travel planning: preparations and important tips

FIV: What preparations do you make before your solo travels?

Julia: There are so many things, but if I’m honest, I haven’t spent much time preparing. My tips would be to copy all personal documents and if possible only take copies, except the passport of course. It is also very important to leave a power of attorney for all matters at home. Because no one knows what can happen in the meantime and it is better to be prepared for the “worst case scenario”.

I personally took a self-defense course, my boyfriend insisted on it and I am very grateful about it. Fortunately, I have never had to use it, however, I have been able to take away many of my fears with it.

Using Airtag & Capture Important Memories

Something I can recommend to anyone or everyone is to use an airtag or other tracking apps. I felt much safer knowing that someone from home could see my location at all times. You should also think about how you want to record your trip.

I am more the visual type and decided to buy a Polaroid camera and a small booklet in which I pasted a Polaroid photo every day or at least in beautiful places. It was absolutely one of the best decisions, because these photos automatically recall all my memories about it.

Camping: find the best places

FIV: When planning your trip, were you more focused on specific places or did you let your curiosity drive you? Were there specific factors you took into account when choosing where to stay?

Julia: My travel planning consisted of knowing where I was going to be the next day. At home, I was someone who constantly had to know everything in advance and tried to plan everything for the next week. But when I got on the bus, all I knew was that I wanted to go to Porto, possibly make a stop in Barcelona and that was it.

I unpacked my paper Europe map about twenty minutes after I left and looked up which direction I needed to go.

It is a wonderful feeling to be so free and to be able to make your own decisions.

It was important to me to travel along the sea as often as possible, and that’s what I did.

The best app for pitches

I always found my places to stay through an app called Park4night and made sure that the ratings were very good (3-5 stars) and the comments were mostly positive. I shared a lot of places on my Instagram account. So, if anyone is planning a trip, he or she is welcome to check out the highlights “Park4night” and save the places.

Researched I have always so between 15-30 min. the evening before or sometimes very spontaneously. Nevertheless, I always had nice and safe places. A tip, avoid campsites and rather go to pitches, which are much cheaper and actually have almost the same equipment, perfect for traveling.

All alone? Travel without friends and family!

FIV: What were your biggest challenges traveling solo and what was it like leaving all your friends behind?

Julia: My biggest challenges were definitely not seeing my boyfriend in person for a long time and sharing my experiences with him. Saying goodbye to my friends and family was definitely one of the hardest things I have ever done.

That feeling after I got in the car and drove off into the unknown, even though I wanted to turn around and hug each one again, was heartbreaking. Because I just didn’t know if I’d ever see them again, because there’s always a risk, which I’m very glad I took.

I did have a few minor mishaps with our van, but I definitely learned a lot in the process. I can consider myself really lucky not to have had any major challenges, because there were helpful people everywhere who supported me.

My biggest vanlife-struggle was definitely the search for camping gas. A tip at this point, take a second or third gas bottle with you, even in Europe, because in some countries it is forbidden to fill empty bottles. For small campers, there are unfortunately not really alternatives, the ones that exist are very expensive and hard to find.

Self-determined without loneliness

FIV: Have you ever felt lonely and if so, how did you deal with it? Do you have any tips against loneliness on solo trips for our readers?

Julia: There were definitely moments of loneliness, but rather towards the end. I was surprisingly little alone, but when I was, I was looking forward to reading and walking along the beach with music in my ears. It was precisely in such situations that I was able to meet like-minded people again.

I also talked to my family or friends on the phone very often, just calling them helped a lot. Also, my goal of getting to a certain place totally distracted me from feeling lonely. I was just focused on getting there.

I got into a real flow, I’ll never forget that feeling – just so free, self-determined and full of genuine moments.

Making friends: “solo” travel together

FIV: Have you reached out to other people on your travels? Would you also say, perhaps, that you made friends?

Julia: I don’t really have a method, however, one or two times I just approached people. For example, in Cadiz, when I just felt like talking to two girls on a park bench after I noticed that they also spoke German. This two minute conversation turned into four days of traveling together to Tarifa. They were such beautiful days, we even slept three to a bus, although we did not even know each other the day before.

Another tip would be to walk around at overnight stops and when you notice friendly campers, compliment the van, thereby striking up a conversation. I once met another traveler by leaving the engine on “too” long, because the engine sometimes needs to cool down a bit. This didn’t excite the camper in front of me.

This funny first contact led to a four-day trip together, a hike to the Monkey Mountain in Gibraltar at 4:00 am in the morning, which I certainly would not have done alone. That’s what’s so special about traveling, just such spontaneous encounters.

More self-confidence & beautiful moments

FIV: What would you say are the clear advantages of traveling alone and why should everyone have done it?

Julia: I have developed new skills, especially in situations where otherwise my boyfriend would have reacted, for example.

I have become much more self-confident as a result and certain experiences have strengthened me a lot in this.

One special thing is that I realized that there are so many people in this world who have similar goals or needs to travel and I am not alone in that. It was so wonderful to meet people in front of whom I could just be me. Those experiences are just worth their weight in gold. On top of that, I lived in the here and now while traveling, which is unfortunately a rarity in everyday life at home.

“My view of the world has changed as well”.

FIV: How do you think this time has changed your perspective on your life and the world?

Julia: I think it made me more spontaneous and adventurous. I have been able to build my own independent life during this time. I am no longer trapped in the hamster wheel, but now decide for myself every day when and how I work to make the world a bit more sustainable. I am convinced that there are so many people who have similar desires and goals, and these are exactly the ones you get to know during these times.

My view of the world has also changed. I realized that there are so many wonderful and helpful people in this world, because complete strangers have helped me out of trouble a few times on the trip. I realized that if you are open with other people yourself, you will get that same openness back.

I have decided for myself that I will not wait for someone or something to fulfill my dreams. The mere fact that I am now being interviewed by a German magazine would have been simply unimaginable not even 10 months ago.

Julia’s Highlights: Across Portugal & Spain

FIV: What do you think were the two most beautiful places on your trip? Is there a particular moment that you will remember forever?

Julia: This question is very difficult to answer, because there are thousands of moments I could tell you about.

The moment when I crossed the border from Spain to Portugal after only 3 weeks. To have made it, that moment was just indescribable. I parked the van just after the border and went back to the sign that said “Portugal” and was just overwhelmed by the fact that I made it “alone” despite all the contradictions.

My journey really just started there, but it was definitely a great moment that I won’t soon forget. It also includes the moment when I came back to Lagos, where I made the crazy decision to do this solo trip and made a promise to myself.

By bike through Cadiz

My two favorite places, phew, the best memories and places are mostly linked to the great people I met there. Lagos is just beautiful even after all the many places I’ve been. Cadiz, the oldest city in Europe also appealed to me so much because I was able to admire it on my bike and just loved the flair there. Another place with a view of the Monkey Mountain will also remain in my memory. I do not know exactly how the place there is called, in any case, I experienced the most beautiful view and sunsets there.

Tiny House: your own little home

FIV: And now the next project is already on the horizon? A Tiny House – Tell us about it!

Julia: My boyfriend really wanted to build a Tiny House. The project started at the same time I was making my travel plans. So we decided to each pursue our dreams but support each other. So I planned the interior design during my trip and spontaneously flew home for a week of Tiny House building.

Interiordesign and build something with my own hands, is a great passion of mine and has accompanied me since the expansion of our vintage camper. Since November, we are building even more intensively on our Tiny House and are currently researching companies for our complete self-sufficiency.

Soon to be seen on YouTube!

It’s a bigger project than we originally thought, but we are really looking forward to finishing our Tiny House. We have already moved in, but there are still many little things to build and to get. It is just wonderful to come into our own four walls or about 19 square meters, where we have built almost everything ourselves. I am looking forward to make all my future solo trips from here and then come back home and lay together under the starry sky. In the background we are currently planning and implementing our YouTube channel, in which we plan a series of room tour videos about our Tiny House, we hope to be able to go online in the summer.

FIV: Dear Julia, thank you very much for this exciting interview! We wish you all the best on your travels!

Elvislamoureux interview – Elvis emigrated to Spain a few months ago and takes his community on TikTok and Instagram with him into his exciting life in Alicante. But why did he emigrate in the first place? Actually, he got this idea during the lockdown in Germany out of boredom. On his social media channels, he shares his experiences, as well as tips and tricks to live in Spain. Learn more about Elvis and his life here!

Emigrating out of boredom? Why not!

In the interview with our magazine, we talk to Elvis about his life and specifically his life in Spain. A few months ago he emigrated to Spain and of course we asked ourselves why? Elvis tells us about his background to emigrate and why he chose Spain. In addition, he tells us a hotspot that we should definitely visit and tips for people who also want to go away. Besides the whole emigration topic, Elvis participated in the music video of Apache 207 and talked about his experiences. Last but not least, we went back to the beginning of his social media career and asked him what inspired him to share his life publicly on social platforms. Find out all that and more in this interview!

Elvis TikTok

“It was like a sign for me to do it”.

FIV: Hello dear Elvis, thank you very much for taking the time for this interview today. Let’s start directly with the first question! For those who don’t know you yet, you emigrated to Spain. What were your backgrounds for this step?

Elvis: I love to travel and have been to Spain several times for vacation. Since I have always liked Spain very much. During the lockdown in Germany I was bored and I was on YouTube. There was a documentary suggested to me about emigrants in Spain. I was so fascinated by this documentary and it was already clear to me that I really wanted to do it. It was like a sign for me to do it.

Photo: instagram.com/elvislamoureux

Spain? Climate, landscape, people & sea

FIV: How nice that the lockdown has more or less turned into something positive for you! Why Spain exactly? What do you personally like so much about Spain?

Elvis: The climate, the landscape, the people and especially the sea. I love swimming so much and went swimming at least 2x a week in Germany.

Enjoy life & shift down a gear

FIV: Definitely understandable reasons! Now you’ve been living there for some time. What have you learned so far from living in Spain?

Elvis: I learned from the people here to enjoy life and take it down a notch and that little things in life make you a lot happier.

Elvis reveals hotspots & places in Spain

FIV: That sounds very inspiring. Can you already tell us hotspots or places in Spain where everyone should go?

Elvis: I live in Alicante and am a big fan of the Costa Blanca. My favorite hotspot is the beautiful town of Calpe. There you can find the building “La Muralla Roja”, they were designed by the Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill. It’s just so beautiful and you have such a great view of the sea there.

Photo: instagram.com/elvislamoureux

Motto: “Make memories every day

FIV: Wow! Do you have any tips for our readers who are also considering emigrating?

Elvis: Many people write in my comments that they don’t dare or are afraid that it won’t work out. I can only recommend everyone to do it if you want to emigrate. Because you gain so much life experience and you can get out of your comfort zone and learn new things like a new language. It doesn’t have to be forever, whether it’s just for 1 year or more, no one can take away the time and the experience. You can always go back to Germany and you have nothing to lose. My motto is: Make memories every day.

Bucketlist destinations: besides Spain America

FIV: You already mentioned that you love to travel. Do you have another destination on your bucket list besides Spain?

Elvis: I’ve never been to America before. Even as a small child, I was fascinated by all the US series and would like to get a picture of it myself and experience this country.

Music video Apache 207 x Elvis Lamo

FIV: Besides emigrating, you also participated in the music video of Apache207. Would you like to summarize your experience for us?

Elvis: It was such a cool day and shoot. The crew of Apache207 was mega nice and I was surprised about the atmosphere on set. You felt like you would be friends with everyone for years, the atmosphere was very friendly and to Apache207 himself, he is very likeable and a correct guy who stayed on the ground. I am an Apache207 fan and like his music a lot and I have to say, from one or the other I celebrated so much and had the opportunity to meet in person, I was disappointed. With Apache207 it was so the complete opposite. My highlight of the day, we ate with the crew in the evening all together pizza.

Sing or play an instrument? I wish..

FIV: That really sounds like a great day and shoot! Are you perhaps also musical and sing or play an instrument?

Elvis: I wish I had a talent for singing. Unfortunately, I can neither sing nor play an instrument. But if I find the time sometime in my life, I would like to learn to play guitar and electric guitar.

“Would like to encourage other people today”

FIV: After all, it’s never too late to learn something new. Last but not least, we’d like to talk about your social media career. What inspired you to share your life on social media in general?

Elvis: In my school days, I was unfortunately not that popular and never had many friends and spent my free time on the internet gambling and using social media. I was also not confident at the time. By chatting on different platforms and communicating with many people online, I became more confident and at some point it happened that I started sharing the first posts on social media. I never expected my community to grow so big. I am so grateful for that and today I want to encourage other people with my videos.

FIV: Thank you again for taking the time for this interview. We wish you all the best for the future!

Whether it’s a business meeting with important business partners or a Christmas party with your colleagues, it’s important to look your best at the table. We’ve put together a few tips on how you can make a good impression with beverage knowledge.

Drinking at the table: the ultimate etiquette guide

In order not to embarrass yourself at business events, it is never wrong to know a few basics from etiquette. When it comes to drinks alone, there is a lot to consider, such as the various customs when toasting, choosing the right wine for the respective dish, and deciding on the right glass. With our know-how, you can avoid putting your foot in your mouth in the future and instead turn out to be an expert on the subject of drinks.

This must be taken into account:

Different customs for toasting

Choice of the appropriate wine for each dish

Decision for the right glass

Always the right drop for every dish

The next topic is taste, and as we all know, taste is a matter of debate. Nevertheless, a few basic combinations have become established that simply go together particularly well, such as a red wine with strong beef or a fresh white wine with fish dishes. With dishes such as lamb, which are served less frequently, it is usually more difficult to find the right wine. Here it helps to concentrate on the individual flavors that can be tasted. It is not only the method of preparation that brings out clear differences here; the accompanying ingredients also play a role. The same applies to everything that is less familiar to us in culinary terms, such as various seafood or dishes with unusual spices.

In summary:

For meat dishes: Red wine

For fish dishes: White wine

With lamb: Pay attention to suitable flavors

Tip. Non-alcoholic wines at business lunches

Many are even more uncertain when it comes to non-alcoholic beverages, which we like to resort to during business meetings. Still water or sparkling water is the safe option, but in the long run it’s also kind of boring. The frequently served soft drinks such as cola or various sodas, on the other hand, usually don’t really harmonize in terms of taste – no matter what is served with them.

Non-alcoholic wines fully in trend!

For this occasion, non-alcoholic wines are the perfect choice. This way, you can do without alcohol , but still enjoy it. Since non-alcoholic wines are currently very trendy, there is a correspondingly large selection of select drops that are in no way inferior to the alcoholic variants in terms of taste, complexity and variety. If you can stand out at business meetings with your knowledge of non-alcoholic wines, you will certainly positively surprise one or the other business partner. After all, many wine connoisseurs are not even aware of how much enjoyment there is in non-alcoholic wines.

Which wine is drunk depends on the food:

The right glass for the drink: guide

No sooner has the right drink been found than we face the next challenge: which glass from the buffet’s arsenal should we choose to go with it? First of all, a few simple rules can help here, because the range of different glasses will usually not be that extensive:

Beakers

Stemware

Handle glasses

Let’s take a brief look at the individual glasses in detail:

Tumbler glasses: long drinks & beer

Slim and taller tumbler glasses are perfect for water, soft drinks as well as for long drinks or even special types of beer such as Kölsch. In the slightly lower version with a solid bottom, aperitifs or other alcoholic beverages are often served on ice.

These drinks are served in beakers:

Water

Soft drinks

Long drinks

Special beers

Stemware: The shape makes the difference

Glasses with an elegant stem are used for a wide variety of spirits. The focus here is on the shape of the cup – it has a decisive influence on the aromas of the drink. For wine alone, numerous different shapes have become established. As a rule of thumb, the slightly smaller glasses are for aperitifs, digestifs and white wines, while larger and bulbous ones are for red wine and brandies. Slender, tall glasses suit sparkling wines and other sparkling wines.

The different stemware at a glance:

Small glasses: aperitifs, digestifs and white wines

Large glasses: red wine & brandies

Slim, tall glasses: sparkling & semi-sparkling wine

Handle glasses: beer & hot drinks

Smaller handle glasses can be used for hot drinks. Higher and larger ones are mostly for beer.

The shape of the stem glass affects the aroma of the wine:

Avoid embarrassing blunders around catering

No matter how careful you are, you’re bound to put your foot in it around the next corner. In the event of a mishap, it helps to take the right approach and still appear confident.

Dispose of the tea bag in style

When tea is ordered, the question often arises of what to do with the tea bag. Placed on its own saucer, it not only looks annoying, but can also stain. It is better to get a separate small plate or bowl to dispose of the tea bag in style.

Tip: Order small bowl for the tea bag

Refill: Yes or No?

The next scenario: Your own glass has already been drunk, but your business partners and colleagues are not yet ready. Is it allowed to top up the glass yourself? In fact, this is considered impolite at the table, unless you are the host yourself. At a buffet, on the other hand, the situation is easier to resolve. Here, you can gladly take the initiative – at best by asking if anyone else would like a drink.

Quick help and an apology are mandatory

The classic embarrassment is certainly the knocked-over wine glass or a spilled drink – possibly on the chic business outfit of your counterpart. Even if the clumsiness went unobserved, it is inappropriate to cover up the mishap. Attentive catering staff will always try to help. If a stain has appeared on clothing or table linen, a dry cloth can be offered as a first aid. In addition, an apology is appropriate. In the case of clearly visible stains that cannot be easily removed, an offer should also be made to pay for the damage and to cover the cleaning costs.

We recommend:

Apologize

If required: bear cleaning costs

Each country has its own unique toasts and customs. More about that in a moment:

Proper toasting in every round

As markets and international business relationships grow together, we are often confronted with different cultural customs. If you have some insider knowledge about the customs of other countries, you can quickly break the ice at meetings and gain sympathy points.

Toasts in Italy, France & Co.

A successful business meeting already starts with the right reception of the guests and continues with the skillful small talk and during the common meal.

In an assembled gathering, the host usually deserves the honor of raising a glass. A “Cheers!” also sounds a bit classier than “Cheers!”. The appropriate counterparts in various countries are as follows:

Salute! or Cin Cin! (Health, Cheers) – Italy

Salud! (Health) – Spain

À vôtre santé! (To your health) – France

Sa sdarovye! (To health) – Russia

Cheers! – USA, Australia

Kanpai! (To your health) – Japan

Drinking habits around the world: tips

There are also differences when it comes to toasting the glasses: In Spain, for example, it is not customary to toast with non-alcoholic beverages. In Italy, on the other hand, the glass is set down again after the toast – regardless of the contents. However, paper cups are never used for toasting, instead the backs of the hands only touch briefly. In Russia, it is customary for everyone in turn to make a toast. In Japan, it is considered very impolite to toast oneself. Eye contact is recommended on almost every occasion, as it shows respect. Crossed toasts, on the other hand, should be avoided everywhere.

The right measure when drinking in a business environment

Finally, drinking itself also raises some questions – especially when it comes to the right measure. Is it even appropriate to consume alcoholic beverages at business meetings? If so, are there exceptions? And what are the limits? First of all, it is absolutely fine to refuse all alcoholic beverages, and no reasons need to be given for doing so. However, a reference to the subsequent trip home by car is always a good argument if someone does ask. Otherwise, the most important principle is to know your limits and tend to hold back. You should always make sure that you are still in control. When toasting a business success, it is often customary to do so with sparkling wine or champagne. Drinking a glass at an earlier hour is absolutely fine. If necessary, the drink can be “stretched” with a shot of orange juice.
While it is quite common in other countries such as France or Italy to have a glass of wine or beer with your meal during your lunch break, this is less common in Germany. If you are unsure, you should wait before ordering. However, a non-alcoholic beverage is always the safer alternative.

Alternative: Stretch drink with a shot of orange juice

The model is also popular on social media and regularly provides her followers with insights from her life. However, there is not only a lot going on professionally, but also in her private life: Jolina has just emigrated to Mallorca together with her boyfriend. In our interview, Jolina talks about her move to Mallorca and reveals whether emigrating has always been her dream. She also talks to us exclusively about her participation in GNTM and looks back on her best experiences from her “Germany’s Next Topmodel” time. Jolina also gives tips for aspiring models and tells us about her plans for the future.

New chapter in life: Jolina’s emigration to Mallorca

FIV: Hello Jolina, we are glad that it worked out with the interview today. You have a lot going on right now, because you just emigrated to Mallorca with your boyfriend. How are you doing at the moment and have you been able to settle in a bit in your new home in this short time?

Jolina: Hello, thank you very much for the nice interview. I’m really doing very very well at the moment, the last few months have been very intense and exhausting due to all the planning with the emigration. Of course, this must be well thought out and considered. A few days ago, our things from Germany have arrived in Mallorca and it is getting more and more comfortable in our new home. Therefore, we are now settling in faster and faster and it is becoming more and more beautiful.

That’s why Jolina and her boyfriend moved to Mallorca!

FIV: Has emigrating always been a dream of yours and what inspired you to do so?

Jolina: If someone had asked me a few years ago if I could imagine living somewhere else than in Hamburg, I would probably have answered no. When I met and fell in love with my boyfriend Dominik Bruntner about 2 1/2 years ago, I moved to Stuttgart after a 3-month relationship with him. Since we both have the same job and have always been on the road a lot, we thought about emigrating more intensively and finally decided to take this step. Thanks to our job, we can work from anywhere and we wanted to take advantage of this opportunity.

In Mallorca the model has found her new home

FIV: You currently live in Mallorca, could you imagine living in another country for a while? Apart from Mallorca, which place would be particularly appealing to you?

Jolina: As a model, I have been to many countries, even for a few months at a time. I think we found our home in Mallorca. But for modeling I would go again for several months in another country. But only together with my boyfriend. Which is of course also possible, since we both work as models. We have some countries in mind in which we would like to spend a longer time, if the opportunity arises.

This is how the model furnishes her new home!

FIV: Of course, you have to completely refurnish your home in Mallorca. Do you have any tips for our readers on what to look out for so that the interior design looks cozy and harmonious?

Jolina: I like it bright with subtle colors. I stay in the beige and pink tones. Beautiful green plants also belong for me in every room.

GNTM Highlight: Entry into the final!

FIV: You now work successfuly as a model and are active in social media. However, many still know you from the 9th season of GNTM. Which experiences from your GNTM do you still remember fondly today?

Jolina: I generally remember my GNTM time super fondly, it simply remains unforgettable. I can still remember the pick-up quite clearly. Thomas Hayo suddenly stood in the classroom and told me I was in, pack your bags and off to Berlin. But the best experience is definitely my entry into the final and of course the final itself. Even though I only came second in the end and didn’t win the show, the whole project was simply wonderful and unforgettable. I still drive my Opel Adam, which I won in the show, and I like to think back to that time.

Jolina’s tips for aspiring models

FIV: Soon the new season of GNTM will start, what tips do you have for the aspiring candidates?

Jolina: Just stay the way you are. Don’t pretend and concentrate on the essentials. Quarrels have no place on the set.

FIV: As a successful model, what would you say are 5 qualities you need for a successful modeling career?

Definitely self-confidence.

Self-employment.

You have to be able to deal with criticism, being a model is not always easy.

Don’t be afraid of change, you’re often thrown in at the deep end and need to know how to handle the situation.

Discipline. Your body is your capital, so must be very careful about it.

This is what the model has planned for 2022!

FIV: Finally, a short look into the future, we are curious what you have planned in the near future: Do you have big plans like a move or something similar or is there something special coming up? Give us a little teaser of what your fans and followers can look forward to in the near future!

Jolina: I won’t be moving again so quickly. But there are some cool projects coming up in the new year, but I don’t want to give too much away yet. Stay tuned and be curious.
