Very basically, there are 4 areas that you should work through cleanly.

Wages, registration, health insurance, etc.

Theoretically, the tax comes first, determined by the monthly accounting. But for us one thing is most important, your employees! Because only through good teamwork, you can achieve good results with your company. Therefore, for us first of all wages, health insurance and other liabilities that provide for a good and effective team.

PS: Good teamwork always means that you are a good motivator for your employees.

Central is the submission of wage data, always on the 15th of the month. In the middle of the month? Yes, exactly, because the payroll data must first be processed, often by external payroll offices, which in turn are commissioned by your tax advisor. This happens especially in smaller tax offices when the necessary personnel resources are not yet available.

This means that halfway through the month you send wages, fixed hours and probable hours to the tax advisor. If you have employees who do not have fixed monthly working hours, you must extrapolate the probable working time. These estimated times will then be offset against the actual working times (of the previous month) in the following month.

Caution, unaware cost trap! Health insurance

Health insurances are not part of the wages and especially company founders often only (!) calculate with the sum for wages and salaries instead of seeing the total costs that arise for employees.

Here’s a small example:

• Salary (transfer): 1.500 €
• Health insurance: 700 €
• Costs for payroll accounting: 15 €
• Central wage costs: € 2,225
• Unconscious costs: + 32,6 %.

The gap between the €1,500 calculated in the mind and the €2,225 actually paid is a whole €725, or +32.6 per cent. Therefore, always remember that the cost of wages and salaries ultimately includes not only the actual payment to the employee, but also the health insurance and payroll costs, which are additional for each individual employee.

This calculation error increases with each individual employee. So, for example, if you hire 5 employees directly at the start of the company through an investment or a loan and do not keep an eye on the costs for health insurance and payroll accounting, you will have a monthly deficit of 3,575 euros in the calculation example. If you have a loan of 50,000 euros or an investment, hire 5 employees, it has consequences quickly. After a period of 6 months, the sudden, supposed loss is already 21,450 euros. Finances are the number 1 reason for the failure of companies.

This is where another statistic comes right into play, 9 out of 10 businesses fail in the first 5 years. The most common reason is lack of funding and capitalization. Supposedly, because maybe it’s just the wrong calculation.

That’s why it’s always important: You have to take an interest in taxes and duties yourself.

Don’t leave the work (only) to your tax advisor!

Let’s recap wages, employees, and health insurance:

• Submission of wage data by the 15th of the month
• Submission of actual and estimated working times (depending on employee type)

Monthly taxes: sales tax, trade tax, etc.

From our long look at employees now to the point at hand, monthly taxes! As a business (except small business) you are obliged to charge VAT if the invoice recipient is in the country (business) and always if the customer is a private person.

The very most important thing for accounting and for accountants:

This monthly evaluation determines the amount of sales tax you have to pay to the tax office.

Annual taxes: annual accounts

At the end of the year, depending on the legal form and company structure, financial statements are sent to the tax office.

Your annual accounts provide information about the financial situation of your company. The annual financial statement is mandatory for all types of companies and is also sent to the Federal Gazette. In this way, company balance sheets can be viewed by the public. This facilitates credit checks for other companies and gives the tax office an insight into the current situation.

At the end of the year, there are various declarations that need to be filed, depending on the legal form(s) and company construct. For the self-employed, this includes the income tax return or, in general, the VAT return. As I said, all these aspects are taken care of by your tax advisor.

The annual accounts must be submitted by 31 July at the latest. Unless you are assisted by a tax advisor, then the submission can be extended to 28/29 February of the following year.

Installing WordPress: Step by step guide

In the first part you will see how to download your WordPress, with an FTP program, play on your own web space. In addition, a MySQL database is created, here all information will be stored later. Both steps you have to do only once at the beginning.

Once download, FTP and MySQL are done, you can install WordPress. After that, the system is ready to set up.

After installing WordPress, you need to finish setting up the system. In the video you will learn the first, important 5 steps. Buy and install theme

With a theme you make your WordPress site more “beautiful” and functional. Often it is also called template or design template. Now that you’ve gotten to know WordPress a little better, it’s about the basic functions in the active work. In the search engine optimization, however, it also depends very fundamentally on many, individual aspects. Roughly it is about:

Who are the top entrepreneurs when it comes to success?

Especially the topic “earn money” attracts many who want to earn money with the “earn money”. Here’s my top five entrepreneur.

Robert Geiss – Fashion and real estate

I find Robert Geiss absolutely inspiring, because he has a great family, has been with his wife for ages, gets around a lot and earns money at the same time. I like the TV series best, especially the scenes where they look at real estate, like islands. Robert grabs a sheet of paper, sits down on the beach and plans the land and buildings directly. When I work on my real estate project, there is no better inspiration in visual terms.

Robert Geiss started his career in the family business, a carnival outfitter. Later he and his brother founded the fashion brand “Uncle Sam”, which he later sold profitably. Today he invests primarily in real estate. When I work on my new real estate project in the evening, there’s nothing better than watching the entrepreneur’s series on the side. A short excursion to the Maldives, a few new houses planned, maybe one bought by himself, all his marketing is extremely well clocked. The yacht is of course branded with the new fashion brand “Geissini”. The TV team accompanies the travels and his wife produces a song called “Jetset”. A little later the song becomes the title melody of the series. Vacation, family, marketing, business, all in one.

Carsten Maschmeyer – Financial products

Carsten Maschmeyer is one of the most interesting self-made millionaires. An absolute and genuine genius in sales. He made his big money with financial products, today he invests in numerous companies and of course is still involved in his old business. In Germany, Carsten Maschmeyer became known above all for his successful series “Cave of the Lions”. In the show, three to four investors evaluate pitches of young start-up founders. What distinguishes him is that he is a very analytical and strategically thinking person. In spite of his possibilities, he keeps a very low profile. When you hear him talk and talk, whether with TV cameras or behind them, you feel this absolute entrepreneur in every word and every sentence. He has managed to take financial products (insurance) for the mass market to a whole new level.

Kylie Jenner – Reality TV and Beauty

Kylie Jenner should be mentioned because she is one of the new phenomena. Well-known family, excellent starting possibilities and optimally used. At the age of 21, she became the youngest billionaire in the world. What an achievement! After all, she could have been perfectly resting on her millions, but she is still interested in business. Your parents will be very happy!

Kylie Jenner also shows you that origin is everything. In my life I have also met many entrepreneurs, who without their parental home probably would not have been able to anything. But if you get the right consultants at your side right from the start and don’t have to worry about finances, you’ve already won. Because this person and can immediately afford good employees and with that you do not have to think much yourself. What you have to deal with, there always will be. The only solution, you always have to run twice as long, twice as fast and twice as hard. If you do this for 10 or 15 years, you might be able to bring it to a similar level at some point. But it won’t be easy. Especially if you have such people as competition, it costs nerves. You have to work hard, the others are on vacation. You keep asking yourself, how can they afford it? The bitter realization, you have to go through it. Entrepreneurship is not a social club.

Elon Musk – payment system and space logistics

This man should not be missing from any list when it comes to role models for entrepreneurs. Elon Musk is certainly one of the most inspiring people in the world. It all started with Paypal and other projects, today he is one of the pioneers in space travel. An incredible career.

Briefly described, everything started with the revolution of payment systems, namely PayPal. The great smart one was the symbiosis with Ebay. Today PayPal is almost standard as a payment system. But Elon Musk already had good ideas before PayPal and of course afterwards. With Tesla, he discovered one of the new technologies of the future at an early stage and was the first to start mass production of electric cars. A few weeks ago, the 100,000 vehicle rolled off the assembly line. Meanwhile more and more car manufacturers are jumping on the trend. Of course also by threatening CO2 certificates but also to get a part of the cake. Sky is the limit! That’s why Elon Musk is of course also in the current race into space among the multi-billionaires. Elon Musk also knows how to use his own network and last year he launched a Tesla into space with a SpaceX launcher. Naturally worldwide with live transmission. Wow. Wow.

My favorite story is the one from x.com. As a nerd, I’m especially fond of this story. At that time Elon Musk sold the domain in a package. Now, many years later, he has bought it back for three million. The page is empty, hardly any source code, a simple X. Not even an https certificate has the site. The love for a domain can be so great!

Personal experience

Think big! A source of inspiration that I always carry inside me and even in tattoos on my skin. Big and small stars that stand for the fact that I always set myself goals that I will probably never reach. What’s the matter with you? If I only set myself small goals, I reached them quickly and then? Motivation is an extremely high drive. The higher the goals, the more motivating it is to be one of the few to achieve them. An example? After my advertising agency I absolutely wanted to found a model agency. The name “CM Models” had done it to me so, since all domains were free. Free PR with a slightly different brand name and the complete domain package. No sooner said than done. 24 months later, the entire network (3 agency brandings) was on page one. Not only in German, also in English for keywords such as:

• Modeling agency Los Angeles

All that’s missing is New York and London. If I had set myself the goal of becoming “number 1” digital in Germany, I would probably never have taken any other steps. It was clear right from the start that the brand positioning would be international and that all systems and structures would be designed in such a way that we could achieve the goal quickly and efficiently.

Steve Jobs, the legendary founder of Apple, currently the most expensive company in the world. He died a few years ago and is still known to almost everyone today. Famous quotations like

have been quoted ten thousand times.

Get feedback for your handmade things

For a professional business, it is not enough if you make the stylish tunic once. You must be able to produce the product in appropriate quantities – and also spend the necessary time. The materials cost money and need space. Therefore, not only should you have enough storage space, but also be able to shop for your required fabrics and other materials in such a way that you still have a profit margin at the end. Unfortunately, it is not enough if the best friend likes the homemade garment. Before you professionally raise your business, you need unbiased feedback. Praise can inspire, but does not help you if there are still things to improve. It’s best to make a selection of the clothes or accessories you plan to sell and give them to selected test subjects. Ask for honest feedback on the materials used, workmanship, design and overall look. Then you have a first impression of how your creations could arrive on the market.

Calculate the profit margin

Many have slipped into the sale of homemade things, step by step. Over the months and years, but sometimes over night, the hobby became a profession. However, if you do not want to bake small rolls right from the start, you can not get around a business plan. Not only do you need materials and tools, you also have to pay for packing material and shipping costs. Keep in mind that the production of your good pieces consumes electricity, water and heating in your workspace. Also remember that you need to invest in labels that comply with the EU Textile Labeling Regulation, homepage, logo, printed matter and advertising. All expenses on your list should be allocated to the single handmade piece. Calculate the sales prices so that you have something left after deduction of all costs. Now you can count how much self-made things you need to sell each month to earn a profit or even live off the sale of your products.

Use online portals for home-made

As good as your products may be, they do not sell themselves by themselves. Of course, you can go the classic way and offer your home-made things at city festivals. However, this only reaches a very small number of customers. On the Internet, on the other hand, there are customers worldwide for your products. There are now several national and international platforms that specialize in the sale of home-made things. DaWanda is the most popular marketplace in Germany for Do it yourself. You can quickly open your own shop and get started. DaWanda earns on the registration fee and sales commissions. Etsy works similarly. Other online marketplaces for handmade are muckout, vondir, palundu and ezebee. Under certain circumstances, there is a niche for home-made even on Ebay. Still relatively unknown is the option “Handmade by Amazon”. To be accepted, your products must comply with Amazon requirements and successfuly complete the application process. Alternatively, you can open an online shop on your homepage.

It does not work without advertising

However, it is not enough to open a shop on a do it yourself portal and wait for the customers. Because to attract potential buyers, it now needs marketing and advertising. The social media help you reach as many people as possible. You can use Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter to drum up your creations. When you advertise on Google, you reach your targeted audience. There will be no cost to you until your ad is clicked. Always make sure that you are legally on the safe side. For example, find out about copyright and get tax advice so there are no nasty surprises. Thanks to the Internet, it is now easier than ever to start a successful business with handmade products. However, if you do not want to stay on a sideline, you will need to spend a lot of time, energy, and financial resources to make a living selling your home-made creations.
