Lena Gercke: television and modeling

German model and television presenter Lena Gercke is successful on many levels. Her career probably had its breakthrough with the victory in the first of GNTM. As a result, she won a contract with the prestigious modeling agency IMG Models and appeared on the cover of Cosmopolitan. After that you could see her on various covers of German and international magazines.

In addition to her modeling career, she was also successful in the television industry. She was part of well-known shows like the Supertalent, Austrias Next Topmodel, the Voice of Germany or Schlag den Star. She also landed a job as a voice actress in the movie the Smurfs.

Before founding her own brand with About You in 2019, she received the About You Award in Fashion.

Tuesday is the big kick-off for ABOUT YOU Fashion Week, in the evening at 9pm.

We were there an extra hour before to look at the ABOUT YOU Fashion Week Village. A whole 15,000 m² area with various booths, fashion, styling, but also snacks, drinks, all you need, with ABOUT YOU. While you wait patiently at other fashion shows, here everyone was already dancing. Already at 8 pm the Village was one club and really everyone had extremely fun – unusual for the first show of Fashion Week. We are excited to see what is still to come! Stella McCartney, Lena Gercke, Leni Klum, Hugo Boss, are just a few of the dates that are in store for us in the coming days thanks to ABOUT YOU.

The story of a billion dollar company

The online store About You has been active in Germany since May 5, 2014. The company was created as part of the Collins e-commerce project, which was launched by the Otto Group in 2013. The group invested a three-digit million amount for this, but as we know today, it paid off. In the next four years, About You already went online in some neighboring countries.

In 2016, the investment company SevenVentures and the corporate advisor German Media Pool took a minority stake in the company. After all, investors valued it at 320 million just 3 years after it was founded. Since 2017, however, the money has not only been flowing in through fashion. More than 10,000 applications were received and reviewed by Heidi Klum. Every year, 12 women compete for the title of Germany Next Topmodel, as well as for a modeling contract. Winner Season 14: Simone Kowalski

Simone Kowalski – The winner of the 14th season of GNTM. She received a model contract with the model agency Oneeins fab Manmagement under the direction of Heidi Klum’s father, as well as prize money of 100,00 euros. The highlight: she adorned the German June/July issue of Harper’s Bazaar. But what distinguishes the winner? Out of over 11000 applicants, only 32 were invited to the pre-selection and 12 made it to the next round. The show lasted for 9 episodes. Of the 12 women, three made it to the finals. These lucky ones were Lena Gercke, Yvonne Schroeder and Jennifer Wanderer. The winner of the season was Lena Gercke, who is still very successful today. After a long time of worrying and thinking about who would be the first Germany’s Next Topmodel, Lena Gercke finally won. Her victory earned her a small car, a contract with the model agency IMG and Face your Brand. She also made the cover of the German Cosmopolitan. Lena is still super successful today: Lena Gercke is not only active as a model, she has already been seen in the German GQ, among other things, but now also as a presenter on the ProSieben casting show The Voice of Germany. In addition, the multi-talent has founded her own fashion brand Leger, where she sells sustainable and high-quality fashion.

Every year, Heidi Klum searches for Germany’s new top model with guest judges from various fields such as styling, photography, and coaching. Young women from all over Germany compete for the title Germanys next Topmodel. They have to prove themselves during the season in shootings and castings.

Caro Daur

The German model and influencer Caro Daur is one of the new generation models who are also booked on social media because of their reach. She is very successful and designs, among others, for brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel and Calzedonia.

Stefanie Giesinger

At the age of 17, the 1.77-meter former high school student Stefanie Giesinger took part in the ninth season of the casting show Germany’s Next Top Model, which aired on ProSieben from February 2014. On May 8, 2014, she won the final. In June 2014 she was on the cover of German Cosmopolitan. Like other participants of the season, she received from Günther Klums model agency ONEeins a two-year contract, which she did not renew. Since then, she is very active on social media and as a model, and is often booked as an influencer.

Anna Ewers

In 2013 she came into business and ran at 42 fashion shows in Paris and New York. A call from designer Alexander Wang promoted her career. The German-language edition March 2015 of fashion magazine Vogue brought with her for the first time ever five different cover pictures of the same model by star photographers like Patrick Demarchelier or Peter Lindbergh. She lives in Brooklyn, New York and is, according to Stern, “currently the internationally most booked German model”.

Toni Garrn

As a model she was discovered in Hamburg at a Fanfest for the Football World Cup 2006. The international breakthrough came in the following year, when she was booked exclusively for Calvin Klein. After graduating from high school Ohlstedt in Hamburg, she also moved to New York City to work as a model professional. She also starred in campaigns for Burberry, Chloé, Dior, Emporio Armani, Fendi, Hugo Boss, Jil Sander, Prada and Versace.

Lena Gercke

At the beginning of 2006, Lena Gercke participated in the first season of the casting show Germany’s Next Top Model broadcast by the TV station ProSieben. On March 29, 2006, she was named the winner of the competition, received a contract with the modeling agency IMG Models and appeared on the cover of the German edition of Cosmopolitan. Her career started from there on a quick start and today she is still one of the most sought-after top models in Germany.

Vanessa Hegelmaier

In 2008, Hegelmaier took part in the third season of the casting show Germany’s Next Top Model and reached there the 9th Place. In 2009 she was contracted by her mother agency Place. Later, she was also accepted by other international model agencies such as IMG Models in their model charts. Vogue counted Hegelmaier in the spring / summer season 2010 to one of the eight best newcomer models. Meanwhile, she is still a successful model and was the advertising face for campaigns of various brands, including DKNY, Esprit and Swarovski.

Julia Stegner

Stegner was discovered at the age of 14 by the agency boss of Louisa Models, at the Munich Oktoberfest 1999 and signed by her. She first began modeling after completing secondary school at the age of 18. Her breakthrough came in 2003, when she opened the show by Yves Saint Laurent in Paris. Today, she lives in New York and is still a successful model.

Heidi Klum

The career of Heidi Klum began in 1992 with her participation in the Model ’92 competition, in which the then 19-year-old student won against 25,000 competitors and won a $ 300,000 endowed contract as a model for a period of three years. Claudia Maria Schiffer
