Denmark – Dive with us into the world of Denmark, between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, accompanied by our expert Jørgen Laustsen(Feline)! In this talk we will explore the unique facets of this enchanting country. Denmark, characterized by breathtaking nature, warm people and a rich history, has so much to offer. Let’s explore Denmark’s picturesque coastlines, cultural diversity and culinary highlights together as Jørgen (a Dane himself) shares his deep insights. Good food, beautiful vacation homes and a lot of nature between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea: Welcome to Denmark!

Why many love Denmark as a vacation destination

FIV: What do you think makes Denmark such an attractive destination for vacationers?

Feline: Nature, especially the long coastline and the seas. Denmark is a small country, about 5000 km² smaller than Lower Saxony, but still has 7000 km of coastline, most of which are sandy beaches. You never feel cramped, as there are fewer inhabitants in Denmark (5.8 million) than in Bremen (6.6 million).

There are very different beaches. On the North Sea coast you can find many beautiful beaches, but also a sea that you have to respect especially. On calm, sunny days it is nice to refresh yourself in the water, but if the sea is choppy and the waves are too big, you should not swim. On the other hand, you can enjoy the view from the beach.

Vacation with family, dog & Co.

On the east coast of Jutland and on the islands, the sea is much calmer and therefore particularly suitable for families with small children. There are more than 500 dog parks, and there is usually no leash requirement on the beaches from October to March. There are many opportunities for fishing.

Danes love strawberries with cream; the red berries are sold all over Denmark, often as self-service at farm stores. This is a delicacy that you should definitely try.

Flea markets are almost a kind of national sport in Denmark; they are almost everywhere and you can easily spend a few hours there. Maybe you find something, maybe not, but the search is a lot of fun.

In the larger cities and especially in the market towns there are very “hyggelige” town centers that offer a combination of cultural experiences, shopping and interesting buildings.

The most beautiful regions

FIV: Which regions in Denmark would you recommend for different types of travelers, for example families, nature lovers or culture lovers?

The most beautiful places for … Families & Kids

Feline: Depending on the age of the children: for young children East Jutland and the islands are suitable, because here they have many opportunities for fun in the water. When the children are older, the North Sea coast offers many opportunities and even bigger beaches.

The most beautiful places for … Nature lovers

Feline: The most beautiful is…

If you like to be near the sea, it doesn’t really matter much where you are in Denmark!

Most Germans vacationing in Denmark are on the route from Rømø to Søndervig. Although Ringkøbing Fjord and the Tipperne nature area offer great nature experiences, Denmark has much more to offer. North of the Limfjord, the landscape changes significantly. Sand dunes are much more prominent here, and the old fishing towns are a truly “hyggelig” experience.

Råbjerg Mile, a wandering dune; for children a huge sandbox. At the tip of Jutland two seas meet; a walk (or a tractor ride) is a very special experience. The view at the tip is unique. Often you can see seals in the water and on the beach.

The most beautiful places for … Culture lovers

Feline: Although I was born and raised on Fyn and therefore may be biased, I recommend the combination of Odense (Art Museum, Brandts, HCA Museum and House) and the coastal market towns (Svendborg, Faaborg, Bogense, Middelfart, Nyborg, Assens and Kerteminde) on Langeland (Rudkøbing) and on Ærø (Rudkøbing and Marstal). There are a variety of cultural experiences here. The distances are short, so you can experience a lot in a few days. As a bonus, you cross beautiful and varied landscapes and at the end, with the exception of Odense, you are always by the sea.

Vacation homes in Denmark

FIV: What advantages do you see in booking a vacation home in Denmark compared to other types of accommodation?

Feline: The freedom and large space, private terrace, barbecue facilities (hot dogs, another Danish specialty). Often there is a fenced property, which means that dogs can run free and children can play in the garden without worrying. There are no parking problems, as there is always room for several cars. The possibility of vacationing with grandparents or friends under one roof.

FIV: What tips do you have for first-time travelers looking to book a vacation home in Denmark?

Feline: Of course, the time of year plays a big role – but in general I recommend that you think about your requirements and wishes in advance. How many people are there, do you need a fenced property or not, or would you rather have a pool and sauna? From my own experience I can also say that if teenage girls are with you, you can never have too many bathrooms.

The most beautiful times of the year

FIV: Are there certain times of the year that you think are particularly recommended to visit Denmark?

Feline: Most Germans visit Denmark in the summer. This season is really beautiful in Denmark. The temperatures are very pleasant and are often between 20-25 degrees. When it gets warmer, the coasts are always easy to reach. As in Germany, the weather is unpredictable, but if it rains, you can easily find activities or sights indoors. The bright nights in summer are especially beautiful.

Spring, autumn and winter: Each season has its own charm!

Nature is changing and there are always great experiences to discover (cycling, hiking). You can actually say that the motto of the year is “Time for each other”.

FIV: What local activities or attractions near cottage locations in Denmark do you think travelers shouldn’t miss?

Feline: Of course, it depends on the location, but in general: beaches, hiking trails, bike paths, activities with dogs, local market towns, animal parks, museums and much more. Since the distances in Denmark are very short, as already mentioned, there are many possibilities to find the right offer.

Denmark past and present

FIV: What trends or changes in tourism to Denmark have you observed in recent years?

Feline: Many Danes rediscovered their own country during the pandemic and continue to vacation here. Another big change is the liberalization of cancellation terms; this is also a consequence of the pandemic. Today there are really short cancellation periods, often up to 45 days before arrival. In recent years we have also seen climatic events, such as the extremely high temperatures in southern Europe this year. When it is over 40-45 degrees Celsius and the sun is shining all day, it becomes too hot for some guests. I believe that in the future more guests will therefore choose more northern destinations, including Denmark.

Now another insider tip!

FIV: Do you have any personal insider tips or recommendations for travelers to make their Denmark experience even more special?

Feline: When I was a kid, my parents always vacationed in North Jutland, so it became a tradition. If I’m not there at least once a year, I feel like it wasn’t a “real vacation”. Later, I passed on my love for this part of Denmark to my daughters, and we often vacationed there together with my parents. It’s really great.

I started with Funen and I want to end with Funen. My insider tip for those who love the sea and the coast is that Fyn is the focus of Denmark for porpoises. There really is a large amount of them that you can watch from the coast; a great nature experience.

If you like fishing, the waters around Fyn offer really good opportunities, among other things, to catch sea trout.

Thank you very much!

We hope that you are as excited about the treasures of Denmark as we are. The enchanting nature, the rich culture and the warm people are waiting to be discovered by you. We wish you unforgettable adventures in Denmark! Thanks to our Denmark Local Expert Jørgen Laustsen from Feline!

Zoe travels through Europe – Beach & Sightseeing

On eBay Classifieds you can find cool fashion trends as well as technology, cars, books and much more. How the app actually works and how you buy items, what dangers you should watch out for, and why eBay Classifieds is a real insider tip for clothes, you will learn in this article. The app is suitable for IOS and Android.

Ebay Classifieds App: Buy and Sell

The eBay Classifieds app is becoming more and more popular. This is due on the one hand to the simple and straightforward operation, but above all to the reach of over 30 million users throughout Germany. This makes eBay Kleinanzeigen one of the most popular apps in Germany. The gigantic online flea market, as eBay Kleinanzeigen calls itself, is basically designed in a rather old-fashioned way and differs significantly from the usual second-hand shopping on the Internet. The visual design of the app is very simple and the app is very easy to use both mobile and desktop. The individual categories and filters can be selected. You can also set the radius yourself if you want to pick up the items yourself.

Do I have to pick up the item?

The aim of the developers with the innovation is to enable the purchase and sale not only regionally but also nationwide. Therefore, there is now the new secure payment option, with which you are no longer forced to pay for the item on the spot. So there is nothing standing in the way of a purchase with shipping, as long as the seller agrees. However, as the name suggests, it is only an option that the buyer can freely choose.

How to buy something ?

As usual, an item is offered with pictures, a description and a price. However, since there is no possibility to purchase an item by buy-it-now, the purchase here proceeds differently. Communication between the customer and the seller is necessary to agree on a payment method and shipping method.

First contact the seller via chat or phone number

The seller is not forced to offer shipping

The seller has free choice about the payment method

Ebay Classifieds also has a recent update that offers buyers a secure payment method and allows them to buy clothes on the self-pickup app.

How do I sell my items?

First of all, register on the app with your email – it’s very quick, just click on Register. Log in with your new account. In the classifieds portal you will find the option “Place ad now”. Upload professional pictures to show your items in a good light. Describe your items accurately and add a category and your price. The duration of your ad is 60 days, but an extension is free.

What do you have to watch out for?

What makes Ebay Classifieds different from other platforms, what can you expect and what dangers should you keep in mind? No matter if on the internet or in person. When selling second-hand clothes, there are always some aspects that you should pay attention to in order to get a good product. Here you will learn everything you need to know and what you have to pay attention to.

What makes Ebay Classifieds different

The community of eBay Classifieds is quite different from others and makes the app a real insider tip:

Just call the seller, most users add their phone number to it

Almost every user offers shipping

Very many users give away their articles

Exchange offers are possible

This awaits you on Ebay Classifieds

High fashion and even unique pieces of catwalks of that time

Fair prices and bargains

If you are in a hurry, you can often call the seller directly

Purchase is made by necessary communication and there is no immediate purchase

However, the biggest advantage is the fact that it is an insider tip and many are still unaware of the range of vintage fashion on this app

Dangers and disadvantages of eBay Classifieds:

It’s important to remember that eBay Classifieds is still an online flea market, where the Fashion & Accessories category is one of hundreds of others.

you’ll miss some things from familiar second-hand apps:

No check of eBay for originality

Extremely many counterfeits of even normal priced brands

Very good forgeries with fake proofs of authenticity

Very many scammers

Insider tip for fashion enthusiasts!

What tips are there and how do you find the best bargains? Here you will find the right insider tips for fashion enthusiasts.

Tips:

eBay Classifieds is unfamiliar to many in the fashion field, so you should always remember the following things when using the app:

Communication is the most important thing on eBay Classifieds, always be friendly

Pay only with buyer protection

Buy branded clothes only with security on originality

You can push your articles, just like you know it from other apps

Bargain!: the best offers

To make sure you don’t miss out on the best offers, activate the New First button. Now the newest ads will be displayed first. To make sure you don’t miss anything, activate your notifications. You can also save your search.

Activate new first

Activate notifications

Contact

If you have questions or anything else, you can also contact Ebay Classifieds. You can do this on the app or on the website. To do this, go to Contacts and fill out the form and don’t forget to leave your email.

Conclusion

With second-hand items you only save money, but also contribute to the reuse of clothing. This also allows people to buy bargains as the prices are often lower than the new price. With these tips, you are guaranteed to find your new favorite piece!

You want to sell more: Vinted & Vestiaire

Would you like to learn more about ReBuy and get to know more apps? We would like to introduce you to VInted and Vestiaire Collective. On both portals, you can post used clothing or find new treasures, similar to Ebay.

Vinted: Secondhand easy and fast!

The app Vinted is one of the most popular and largest second-hand apps when it comes to clothing, strollers or interior. Not only can you buy branded or vintage clothing, but you can also sell from the comfort of your own home. Moreover, the second-hand community has recently grown and now counts 37 million members because, Kleiderkreisel and Mamikreisel are now Vinted. You can find the app in almost every app store. Of course, you can also buy and sell items through the website, but the app gives you easy access and a great overview.

Vestiaire Collective

The app is very well known in the second-hand community and is an integral part when it comes to luxury second-hand products. Here you can find brands that are currently trendy and already mostly sold out. Prada shoes, Jean-Paul-Gaultier and Chanel bags – who doesn’t dream of that? It’s also good to know that Vestiaire Collective only sells second-hand clothes, which are sold by private sellers on the platform. At Vestiaire Collective, you shop new trends and sell everything that is no longer worn by you. Vestiaire Collective has over 6 million users and 300,000 items.

Travel to Canada – waffles with maple syrup, moose and reindeer in the snowy winter landscapes, ice hockey as a national sport and of course super friendly Canadians who always want to help. Canada sounds idyllic just by its clichés. If you take a closer look, this positive picture is only confirmed even more. Although Canada has always been in the background compared to the USA, this country has a lot to offer. The great white north enchants in many different ways. The climate zones caused by the broad geographical expansion provide for ice-cold winters and short hot summers. So you can find everything from skiers to surfers in Canada. In addition, our long-time scene experts Jim Carrey, Celine Dion, Ryan Reynolds or teen stars like Justin Bieber, Drake and the Weeknd all have one thing in common: they are true Canadians.

Canada: Among moose, maple syrup and friendly Canadians

Canada is probably one of the few countries with positive stereotypes and prejudices. The friendliness of the Canadians is exaggerated in many sitcoms, their love of maple syrups resembles a fanatical sect and their wild nature with bears, moose, bison, wolves and beavers almost makes Australia with its snakes and spiders take a back seat. But are these all just prejudices from our favourite series or is it true? We have taken a closer look at the maple syrup export hit No. 1 and Canada’s wildlife.

Maple syrup and the heist of the century

It is impossible to imagine life without the three tips. The typical maple leaf is not only found on the Canadian flag, but is essential for Canadian cuisine. “Canada’s liquid gold” is the name given to maple syrup. In fact, maple syrup is so popular that there have been several crimes. In 2011-2012, thieves managed to steal 5000 tons of maple syrup (estimated value: 15 million euros) from a warehouse in Quebec. Crazy, right? Fortunately, the crime was solved and two thirds of the syrup could return home unharmed.

But what makes this sweet, sticky diatribe so unbeatable? Why is it exactly the maple leaf and maple syrup that makes for incredible sales in Canada? Maple syrup was invented by Indians from North America, more precisely from what is now Canada. Over the years, the Canadians have perfected their production and during the day, with sufficient sunlight, they have transported the nutrients stored in the tree roots into the buds. At night, however, there had to be enough frost to ensure that the perfect production was made according to the recipe.

Nature and freedom: moose, bears and bison

Canada fascinates with its wildlife. From bears to moose, wolves and bison, Canada offers a unique backdrop for wildlife living in the wild.
Moose are animals close to water, due to their sensitivity to heat Canada offers you a great climate. The proximity to lakes or rivers provides cooling and refreshment. Therefore, a canoe trip is recommended, because with a lot of luck you can catch a moose in the water in search of food.
Not every bear is dangerous! The black bears or Blackbears often have brown or black fur and can be found everywhere in Canada. This makes it very convenient to book one of the many wildlife tours. Nevertheless, you should always have a bear spray/pepper spray ready in nature areas, because it has often happened that on a nice walk, you have discovered a small grizzly bear.
The bison were hunted for years because of their coveted fur. Today there are still about 700 Canadian bison living. In Atlanta there is a 12 km long national park, where the aggressive animals live.

Did you know: Their tail height indicates their aggressiveness. The higher it is, the more you should watch out!

Sightseeings: Top 10

With 36 million inhabitants and 9.9 million square kilometres, Canada is the second largest country in the world after Russia. This is exactly why it is difficult to limit the numerous sights and attractions. Some places look too good to be true. Photographers are often accused of using too much Photoshop, as with Banff National Park. Other cities like Toronto convince with futuristic and modern architecture, at the same time you can also find artistic spots with worth seeing graphite arts. The top attraction is probably the Niagara Falls. For those who like adrenaline kicks, we recommend a trip by boat as close as possible! Even a 2 meter man will realize how small you are next to such an enormous cascade. Besides, you will definitely not need a shower afterwards!

Round trip: Niagara Falls, Banff, Toronto, Vancouver

Canada is a very good destination, as it is as big as Europe itself. There are several climate zones in Canada. In Vancouver, for example, you can relax and surf on the beach during the short summers, view the wonder winter landscape in regions like Banff or admire Niagara Falls with its impressive height of 55 m all year round. In Canada, there is something for everyone, for young and old, for the quiet connoisseur or the adrenaline junkies. It offers attractions like EdgeWalking at the edge of the CN Tower or ziplines to Niagara Falls.

Vancouver

The typical Work & Travel destination Vancouver is one of the most liveable cities in the world. It fascinates above all by its diversity. With the question “Are you a summer or winter person?” you always have to make a clear choice between tanning on the beach or having a snowball fight outside. Why not both? In Vancouver, you’re surrounded by ocean and mountains. A sunny day offers the perfect opportunity to relax on the beach or, on stormy days and heavier waves, you can surf there very well. On colder days you can visit the following ski resorts:

Cypress Mountain

Grouse Mountain

Mount Seymour

Toronto

One of the most famous destinations when it comes to Canada is the modern metropolis of Toronto. But what exactly is there in Toronto? What can you discover there as a tourist? Toronto presents the typical Canadian life, the hospitality, the typical food and the love for hockey in the Toronto Hockey Hall of Fame.

A famous sight is the CN Tower with an outstanding height of 553 meters. From there you can see the whole skyline of Toronto and at night the effect is only more intense. You can see the endless expanse with lights where the eye can reach. The viewing platform and the 360 degree restaurant are open all year round. There is also once again an extra activity for the adrenaline junkies: EdgeWalking is the name of the fun and costs 150 Euros. On the 113th floor, one can walk on the edge of the platform, thus literally on the edge, of course after being professionally secured beforehand.

inhabitants: 2,615,060

hight‎: ‎76 m

Baff National Park

There is probably no word to describe the Baff National Park equally. Breathtaking, enchanting, perfect are not even close to what nature has created there. It looks very surreal, like a processed desktop wallpaper, when you see the turquoise lake, the snow-covered mountains and the tall trees. The picture radiates peace and quiet, although mass tourism is increasing every year through the Lakes Louise & Moraine.

Banff National Park is the oldest national park in Canada and is very suitable for hiking. But one should not let the magic idyll cloud one’s mind, as with this natural spectacle, the dangers also come from nature. The wildlife is still very present, so watch out for wild bears in the area! For protection there is Bear Spray!

Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is probably the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Canada. The impressive scenery is nowhere else in the world. With 52 meters it is not even the highest waterfall in the world, but because of the wide drop off edge it gives an enormous impression. Every year the place attracts millions of tourists, that’s why the attractions around Niagara Falls are so versatile. Whether 500m by helicopter, 250m on the observation platform or on the Ferris wheel only 50m above Niagara Falls. There is something for everyone and in every price range. For the adrenaline junkies among you, there is Zipline, which whizzes 67m over Niagara Falls at a speed of 100km/h, or the Table Rock Welcome Centre, which is only 3m above Niagara Falls.

Niagara Helicopter

Skylon Tower Observation Deck

Niagara Skywheel

Accommodations: Holiday apartment, holiday home & Camping

The questions of all questions when planning your holiday. What kind of accommodation do I book? Where exactly will I stay? Canada has so many beautiful corners, that’s why it’s so hard to find the right place. Especially when you try to please everybody. While you are a nature lover yourself and want to be enchanted by the beautiful wide open spaces of Canada’s west, your girlfriend is totally fascinated by the southeast of Canada with cities like Quebec, Montreal and Toronto bordering the USA. Choosing a destination starts all the thinking with the right accommodation. A good price, nice facilities and a central location are not compatible with the wishes of a nature lover. Holiday apartment or camping?

We have searched for you the advantages and disadvantages of camping and holiday apartments together.

Holiday flat

With the family, group or even a romantic holiday for two, a holiday apartment or a holiday home is the perfect accommodation for everyone. There are more than enough “cottages” in Canada, especially in the typical tourist locations. Prices vary according to budget and the wishes of fellow travellers. From inexpensive holiday homes to luxury villas with a rent of 15,000 euros, there is everything.

One should also consider the time in which one travels. In winter with such icy temperatures, non-winterproof rental properties and household appliances often do not work. The water supply often comes from nearby lakes that freeze over in winter

Advantage:

Privacy

Fully equipped

Independence

Flexibility with meals (no getting up early as with package tours)

Disadvantage:

Tied to one place

Limited comfort compared to hotel

Cooking, cleaning and shopping for yourself

Increased need for luggage (bed linen, towels, etc.)

More expensive compared to camping

Camping with camper van

Maybe Canada does not seem the typical destination for the time being, because with temperatures of -40 degrees it is not as pleasant as Portugal or Spain. But the spectacular natural spectacle with the lagoon blue lakes, the high mountains and the small wooden huts surrounded by woods invite you to come. There are as many campsites in the west as in the east, but tourists demand more sites in the west because the cities of Vancouver, Banff etc. are faster to reach and these are the top tourist cities with their numerous attractions.Nevertheless, camping trips by motorhome are perfect in Canada. There are many public and private campsites, the rental of motorhomes is cheaper than in Europe and the best thing is that you don’t need an extra driver’s license for vehicles over 3.5 tons. However, you should bring a little time with you. Canada is huge and has so many beautiful corners. Therefore you should decide in advance which corner of Canada you want to discover. If you want to visit the Niagara Falls and afterwards the bordering east coast of USA. From waffles with maple syrup next to the impressive waterfalls to Burger & Fries with a view of Times Square. Or still pure nature with an indescribable view of the Rocky Mountains in a gondola for two with your loved one.

Advantages:

In the middle of nature

cheaper alternative to hotel

More comfortable for children and four-legged friends (nobody complains about the volume)

Freedom: not bound by time and place

greater social interaction with other families, campers

Disadvantages:

Toilets and showers

Vermin

no 100% relaxation like in a hotel; shopping, cooking, washing under more difficult conditions

very popular camping sites: crowded, not quiet, annoying neighbours

Q&A Canada: Cost, cold in winter and time

How much does a trip to Canada cost? What do you need for a holiday in Canada? When is the best time to travel to Canada? Here are the most common questions and answers for you:

How much does a trip to Canada cost?

For a three-week trip by motorhome including flight, camping, refueling, food and activities, you have to reckon with 3,500 euros per person. To make sure that your holiday budget is not tight, you should add an extra 20%, i.e. about 700 Euroo as a buffer budget for unforeseen events.

individual – 3.500 Euro + 20% buffer budget (700 Euro)

couple – 6.500 Euro + 20% buffer budget (1.300 Euro)

family with infant (up to 6 years) – 9.000 Euro + 20% buffer budget (1.800 Euro)

Family with child (6 years to 14 years) – 9.500 Euro + 20% buffer budget (1.900 Euro)

What do you need for holidays in Canada?

For travel documents, a valid passport and an electronic travel authorisation called eTa are required. It is important to check the validity of all travel documents months in advance, as it is very time-consuming to revise travel documents. The good thing about the eTa travel authorization is that no additional authorization is required for entry into the USA, for example, when travelling through the country in a motor home.

When is the best time to travel to Canada?

The best time to visit Canada in summer is from June to October. For northern Canada, the perfect travel time is between July and August. The best time to ski is November to March, in some regions of the Rocky Mountains you can even ski until May.

How cold is it in Canada?

In the north it can get as cold as -40 degrees Celsius in winter.

When is the Indian summer in Canada?

In Canada, the impressive foliage discoloration can be admired particularly well in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec. The best time to travel on an Indian Summer trip is in September and October.

What time is it in Canada?

The time zone of Toronto is called “Eastern Standard Time”. This means that Toronto has a time difference of 5 hours to the coordinated world time (UTC-5).Alberta and Nunavut are in the “Mountain Standard Time” which is 7 hours behind world time (UTC-7).

What is the area code of Canada?

The area code for Canada is the country code +1.

What is the meaning of the maple leaf of the Canadian flag?

Canadian soldiers in both world wars wore the green maple leaf on their uniforms, insignia and regimental flags.

Kobe is the sixth largest city in Japan. It is located north of Osaka Bay and about 30 km west of Osaka itself. With a population of 1.5 million and as part of the Keihanshin metropolitan area, Kobe is one of the most important cities in the Kansai region. The severe earthquake of 1995 changed the appearance of the city considerably, but Kobe has not lost its character and continues to enchant with its surprising versatility and the fusion of old and new, tradition and progress, prefabricated housing and green spaces such as Sorakuen Garden or Zuihoji Park, so typical of all major Japanese cities. Read more about Japan’s metropolises Tokyo and Kyoto.

At dizzying heights above Kobe

Built close to the water

The city of Kobe is long and narrow, which is due to its location between the coast and mountainous country. As everywhere in Japan, the lack of usable land can be felt in Kobe – but thanks to its proximity to the coast and the sea, the Japanese have managed to build two artificial islands between Kobe and Osaka to expand the base of the Japanese island complex, namely Port Island and Rokkō Island.

Without snow through the winter

The weather in Kobe is characterized by hot summers and cool winters. With an average annual temperature of 15 to 20 degrees Celsius, it can be tolerated here all year round. The hottest phase is in August with an outside temperature of up to 32 degrees – in winter the temperatures rarely go below 0 degrees, so that it hardly ever snows in Kobe.

Melting Pot Kobe: internationally popular

Incidentally, about 13% of the city’s population is made up of people under 14, 67% of people up to the age of 64 and 20% of people over 65. 44,000 non-Japanese are registered in Kobe, with South Korea and China as the most common foreign nationalities, and Vietnam and America by far.

The nine faces of Kobe – all municipalities at a glance

International ME: Angela with over 15 destinations in just one day!

Nishi – fresh fish from Akashi

Nishi is the westernmost district of Kobes and with almost 250,000 inhabitants the most populous district of the city. Nishi borders the town of Akashi known for its fresh fish – the temple Gessho-ji is located on the 135th meridian east of Greenwitch, which determines the Japanese normal time JST. That is why the JST is also simply called Akashi time in Japan.

Kita – Natural paradise on the mountain Rokko

Due to its mountainous structure, Kita is the most suitable area for hiking in Kobes. The two mountains Rokkō and Maya invite you to take long walks – the Rokkō Alpine Garden, for example, offers an impressive array of colours and plant diversity especially in autumn and is the perfect place for a day out in nature. If you are looking for relaxation, Arima Onsen is the place for you. The hot spring is an absolute insider tip and lies well protected behind the mountain Rokkō By the way, it is one of the oldest sources at all and is already mentioned several times in historical texts from the 8th century. By the way: Rokkō towers above the whole city with a proud 931 meters height!

Arima Onsen – hot spring, footbath & Mouchi with Allan tea

Tarumi – over the bridge to Awajji

The area around Tarumi was originally not part of the city and was only incorporated in 1946. Tarumi is mainly a residential area and offers few attractions for tourists. However, the AkashiKaikyō bridge, which connects the main island Honshū via Tarumi with southern Awaji on Awajishima, is worth a visit. With a span of 1,991 metres, it is the longest suspension bridge in the world – its actual length is as much as 3,911 metres!

The longest suspension bridge in the world – the crowning glory of bridge construction

Suma – Summer, Sun, Beach and more!

This municipality is located in the western part of the city along the coast and Osaka Bay. Formerly a picturesque district with beautiful small wooden houses, Suma has not been the same since the strong earthquake in Kobe at the end of the 1990s. But the famous beach complex in Suma Kaihin Kōen Park continues to inspire many visitors all year round, but especially during the summer months of course, and invites them to extensive walks and beach parties.

Nagata – the best shoes in Japan

According to figures, Nagata is the smallest district of the city and the least populated compared to the other eight districts. Nevertheless, with almost 9,000 inhabitants per km² it has the highest population density – the majority of the people here are among Kobes with the lowest income. Nagata is known for its shoe production and is still the leader in Japan. Also worth mentioning is the Nagata Shrine, one of the largest shrines in the city.

Hyōgo – drawn by time

Hyōgo is the historical heart of the city and has been run under various names throughout history. Once the core of Kobe’s business, Hyōgo has never fully recovered since the severe damage caused to the area by the Second World War. In 2004, the municipality was further affected by devastating floods. Nowadays people live here at a population density of 655 inhabitants per km² – a faint reflection of the past.

Chūō – from Motomachi to Harborland and Chinatown

The current business and entertainment centre of the city is clearly Chūō – the city centre Sannomiya, the office and business district Motomachi as well as the popular shopping district Harborland directly at the harbour form the character of the area. The artificial islands Port Island and Kobe Airport are also part of Chūō. Along with Nagasaki and Yokohama, Cobes own Chinatown Ninkanmachi is one of the most important conurbations for residents of Chinese descent in Japan – among Chinese, the term “Tangren Jie” is preferred because of its historically negative use of words.

Harborland Tour: Tiger in the shopping area of Kobe

Nada – Uni, Zoo and Sake Production

Nada is home to Oji Zoo, Oji Stadium and Kobe University. Together with the neighbouring district of Higashinada, Nada is best known for its sake. Adding the annual production rate of rice wine to that of Fushimi in Kyoto, as much as 45% of the country’s total production of sake is produced here!

Higashinada – celebrate in Kobe for the wagon festival

Higashinada district is located in the eastern part of the city. A large part of the area is the artificial island Rokkō, which was completed in the early 1990s. The Kōnan University and the Canadian Academy, an international university, are located in Higashinada as well as numerous museums, not least of course the Hakutsuru Gallery, named after the great sake producer Hakutsuru. The Okamoto plum garden makes botanists’ hearts beat faster and in May the whole town comes together to celebrate at the Danjiri-Matsuri.

Economic centre Kobe – upswing of the city

Economically, Kobe is an important hub on Japan’s main island Honshu. Large and well-known companies such as UCC have their headquarters in Kobe, but also various companies of the Kawasaki Group and the Mitsubishi Group can be found here. Some Japanese companies have moved to Tokyo over the years, but the city has not lost its appeal for international companies and is home to many successful companies such as the pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly & Company, the consumer goods group Procter & Gamble, Boehringer Ingelheim – the largest research-based pharmaceutical company in Germany – and the Swiss food group Nestlé.

Teamwork with partners & sister cities worldwide

In addition to official city partnerships with Tianjin in China, Philadelphia, USA, and Daegu in South Korea as well as numerous sister cities, the port of Kobe Sister Port is linked to the ports in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and Seattle, USA.

Research in Kobe: High-End Technology & Supercomputers

Furthermore, many research institutes are present in Kobe, above all the RIKEN Kobe Institute Center for Development Biology and Medical Imaging Ttechniques. An example for the work on RIKEN – short for “Rikagaku “Rikagaku”, which means physical-chemical institute – is the K-computer, which RIKEN developed together with Fijutsu. With a computing power of 10.51 petaflops, the K-Computer took first place among the fastest computer systems in the world in 2011!

The history of the K-Computer from 2006 to 2012

Attractions and Culture: Luxury Meat, Golf and Kobe Fashion Week

Apart from rice wine, the famous Kobe Beef has its origin in Kobe and is named after cattle of the Japanese breed of Tajima cattle from the region around Kobe. It’s the most expensive beef in the world. The meat impresses with its strong marbling and the low content of saturated fatty acids. Market prices range from 400.00 euros to 600.00 euros per kilogram – Kobe Beef’s EU import has only been possible since summer 2014!

From jazz to wrestling and futsal – music & sports in Kobe

Every year in October the music event “Kobe Jazz Street” takes place, but not only culturally the city near Osaka has a lot to offer. Kobe is home to Japan’s first mosque, inaugurated in 1935, and the country’s first golf club, founded in Japan at the beginning of the 20th century. In general, sport is very important in Kobe – it has a rich tradition in baseball, football, rugby, volleyball and wrestling as well as futsal, a variant of indoor football internationally recognised by the World Football Association FIFA, where flying changes in the team’s own area are possible and the ball may not be controlled for more than four seconds when at rest.

Kobe Fashion Centre: Kobe Fashion Week

In Kobe there is a saying: “If you can’t go to Paris, go to Kobe”, because cosmopolitan and fashion are particularly important here. Kobe Fashion Week is held twice a year and brings together the country’s most important designers and numerous international guests. The Kobe Collection was launched in 2002 and was one of the most important fashion shows in the region until it was discontinued in 2007. The Kobe Fashion Museum was chosen by CNN as one of the top 10 museums in the world!

Anyone who earns a lot of money has to pay high taxes – at least that is the case in most countries. For this reason rich actors, singers, sportsmen and other stars have repeatedly moved their residence to the Mediterranean in the past decades. There, the small Principality of Monaco offers them a refuge in which almost no taxes are due on the income they earn – practically for many VIPs and the super-rich. To do this, of course, you have to meet certain conditions, but they are not particularly strict, and you also have to adapt to the lifestyle of the Principality. Due to the many rich and beautiful people who live here, however, it is relatively expensive, even if it is often more about appearance than being. Not for nothing, for example, the rapper Money Boy has already posed in front of the Monaco skyline in the video to his song “Monte Carlo” to underline his wealth – of course it is not clear whether all the expensive apartments have already been paid for. Also the Prince, Prince of Albert, can be seen more often at parties in Monaco.

Games of chance are very popular

The much money that has flowed towards Monaco over the last decades has of course also ensured that gambling is very popular in the small principality. The Monaco Casino is therefore one of the most popular destinations for fans of cultivated gambling. But if you don’t necessarily want to make your way to the Côte d’Azur to place your bets at such games, you can now also do so on the Internet. There are a whole range of online casinos that offer many alternatives from classic table games to slot machines. If you have never tried it before, it is best to register on a comparison page in a Test Online Casino and use the free trial versions of the individual games there. You don’t take any risks, but first you can get to know the process exactly. Those who have then convinced themselves of gambling on the Internet can transfer a first balance to their account in the online casino and risk a little money.

Casino has shaped Monaco

If you take a look into the casino of the Principality on a trip to Monaco, you will find a game temple with a long history. The house was opened as early as 1863 and was supposed to boost the economy at that time. Only five years later, a railway line was opened to the then still very modest fishing village – thus began the upswing. Already in the 19th century many nobles and celebrities came to Monaco, many of the visitors also wanted to try their luck at the game tables. Of course there were always cheaters among the visitors, but all in all you can look forward to well-groomed games and a unique atmosphere at the tables. It’s not for nothing that the casino has served as a backdrop in many films, just like the rest of Monaco. Finally, the impression of almost unlimited wealth is created here.

Attraction for black money

Not only the low taxes, but also the very lax supervision has in the past caused high sums to flow into Monaco year after year. Not every euro spent here has been legally earned. How high the share of black money on the real estate market is, can hardly be said with certainty. However, even the Spanish ex-king Juan Carlos I. has already been associated with corruption and money laundering – among other things he is said to have bought land in Monaco on behalf of a woman with whom he had an affair. Nevertheless, Monaco is sure to attract many people in the coming years who want to see the fascination of life in luxury for themselves. With a bit of luck, you can even improve your travel cash for the trip by winning at the casino – locally or online.

I think life in the public has really many positive sides, I try to share as much as possible with my viewers, give them tips etc., yet I am firmly of the opinion to be the same person in private as on social media, I would describe myself as cheerful, crazy and helpful, because these are simply the qualities of me that accompany me every day.

FIV: You regularly try to upload videos on Youtube besides school time. Explain, what exactly does your content on Youtube consist of?

Jasmin: I try to relate my content on YouTube to beauty, fashion and lifestyle as much as possible, I just enjoy sharing my experiences and possibly helping others or even making them laugh.

Relationship problems due to social media?

FIV: Every now and then you post pictures on Instagram and videos on Youtube with your boyfriend. How long have you two actually been together and how do you cope with the fact that your relationship is very public, due to the fact that you are both very active on social media? Doesn’t the lack of privacy bother you?

Jasmin: My boyfriend and I are now almost 2 and a half years happy together! We both love to be in the public eye and help each other where we can. Our inspiration for a long time are the Youtuber “Ace Family”. They’re just our absolute role models, so we both get on well with it and have a lot of fun doing it. I wouldn’t say that we have a lack of privacy because we really do see each other every day and use our privacy – we do get approached on the street from time to time, but I don’t think either of us would ever complain about that, which makes us even happier!

Multitasking: Jasmin between Youtube and high school stress

FIV: In your everyday life you spend a lot of time with him, your friends and your work on Youtube. What other things are part of your everyday life?

Jasmin: My everyday life consists of 50% school, which is why it is sometimes difficult to upload videos regularly. However, I try to focus on my videos in my free time and not neglect school. That takes up most of my time.

FIV: Following you on Instagram, it’s clear that you love fashion and makeup. Your style varies from sporty looks to more chic outfits. Can you tell us if you have any fashion must-haves and if so, what are they and why every woman needs to have them in her wardrobe?

Jasmin: I think my fashion must have for fall or winter is just a cozy jogging suit! I love it when it’s cold and windy outside to run around in a cozy suit, you just feel so much more comfortable!

Youtube Video: Jasmins most popular Fashion Haul

FIV: It’s clear from your Instagram posts that you prefer summery outfits, but what do you think the perfect winter 2017 look would be?

Jasmin: My absolutely perfect winter look would therefore consist of a chic, sporty jogging suit with cozy boots, a warm winter jacket and a cute hat. In winter it is often not important to me to look chic, rather cozy and warm.

Jasmin’s Top 5 Beauty Essentials

FIV: In the “Beauty” category on your YouTube channel, you tell your viewers tips for clearer skin, for example. Do you have an insider tip for my readers against dry skin in winter and what are your top 5 beauty essentials without which you would never survive the winter?

Jasmin: Luckily I don’t have dry skin, but it’s still very important to always have a hand cream with you in winter, it can save a lot! Also, make sure to get the perfect moisturizer that will always keep you fresh and not dry out. In my top 5 beauty essentials is the very most important in winter: LABELLO!!! My lips are so dry in the winter that I have to put chapstick on them every 5 minutes. Also, hand cream is an absolute must in my handbag, nothing goes without it either!!! What I personally find great about winter is to snuggle up at home and do nothing at all this is best done with a mask, especially masks with great Christmas smells are my favourites. Also, wouldn’t survive the winter without a hand warmer!!! And last but not least, self tanner so I’m not too pale in the winter. I like to use the St. Moritz self-tanner.

Jasmin: down to earth and happy

FIV: You joined YouTube at the end of 2015 and after about two years you have almost 100,000 subscribers. How was it for you to see that people like what you do?

Jasmin: I think I still can’t really realize that I have done all this in such a short time. I am so thankful for all the people who have supported me up to this point and still do! For me I’m just a normal 18 year old girl going to school, but as soon as you go to events like Glow, you realize that there are really some people who love what I’m doing and that makes me so happy.

FIV: In this time you have met a lot of people. For example, recently at Glow in Berlin. Which people were you particularly impressed by and why?

Jasmin: I find it hard to say who I am most impressed with because I think everyone deserves respect for what they do. Everyone puts effort into their videos and is special in their own way. I’m impressed by how many great YouTubers there are!

Jasmin’s recipe for success: individuality

FIV: As a Youtuber, it’s getting harder and harder to stand out these days. Many videos are duplicated on this platform and certain topics are already talked out of order. What is so special about your channel and how do you stand out from other Youtubers?

Jasmin: At first glance, it might seem like a lot of things are duplicated. However, every YouTuber is different and brings the topic across in his own way. The special thing is to be yourself and to convince with your way.

FIV: You are still very young and will graduate from high school at the beginning of next year. After that you are finally “free”: Do you already have certain plans for after graduation?

Jasmin: In any case, I want to focus more on my videos, invest more time and become more active on YouTube. The rest will become clear!
