The old Kiehl Pharmacy stood in the middle of Manhattan, opening its doors in 1851. The former pharmacy on Third Avenue in the East Village little changed after a few years. In 1894, former pharmacist’s apprentice John Kiehl took over the store and renamed it Kiehl. Kiehl’s apprentice expanded the product line to include teas, herbal blends, tinctures and cosmetics. In 1921, apprentice Morse took over the business and finally transformed it into a cosmetics. In the 1980s, the Kiehl brand was sold throughout the USA, Asia and Europe. The brand can also be seen on the stars like Madonna or Kate Moss and becomes one of the most popular brands. To become even more successful and popular the Morse family sold their company to LÓreal. Today, Kiehls is represented in 47 countries and has more than 1200 points of sale that are still kept in the same style as back then.

Thomas Sabo: German brand conquers jewelry market

Thomas Sabo is a German jewelry brand, which was founded in 1984 in Lauf an der Pegnitz (district town in Bavaria) by the same name. Until today the brand is one of the most popular jewellery brands at all. Sabo is known for his unique collections that have high recognition value – the Charm Club or Sterling Silver collections are one of his most famous. In the early 1980s, he started importing jewellery from Asia, which he offered for sale at trade fairs in Germany. A short time later, the foundation of his brand followed – apparently his first attempts at the fairs showed success.
