No social club, no home-growing, with this start-up your <hiddenlink href="https://fivmagazine.de/cannabis-auf-rezept-mit-cannabis-rezept-vom-arzt-weed-gras-kaufen-medizinisch/" data-type="post" data-origin="de" data-origin-url="/?p=199410">cannabis</hiddenlink> is <hiddenlink href="https://fivmagazine.de/cannabis-auf-rezept-mit-cannabis-rezept-vom-arzt-weed-gras-kaufen-medizinisch/" data-type="post" data-origin="de" data-origin-url="/?p=199410">delivered directly to your home</hiddenlink>. From idea to successful start-up, they share their vision, challenges and plans for the future with us. How does the platform work and what makes it unique? A look behind the scenes of a company that is increasingly shaping the market for medical cannabis in Germany.

CannaZen: From idea to start-up

These 2 men are changing the cannabis market in Germany with CannaZen. In the interview, you can find out more about the founding story, the challenges, but also the future of the cannabis market and why Stephan wants to deliver with drones soon.

Editor’s note: Stephan Czaja is also the owner of FIV Magazine.

FIV: David, Stephan, nice of you to take the time. How do you start the day before you get to CannaZen?

David Krems: My mornings usually start with exercise – whether it’s a short run or half an hour at the gym. It gets me going and gives me energy for the day. Then I have a balanced breakfast, often with fruit and yogurt, so that I can start the day well fortified. We had over a thousand orders in the first week alone – you can’t have enough energy!

Stephan Czaja: I like to start the day with a tour of the city center, I like to walk – that’s often where the best ideas come from. Then I sit down with a cappuccino, what projects are on the agenda? Which meetings are particularly important? This gives me an immediate overview and a structured start to the working day. So I can still learn a lot from David’s sporting energy!

Founder story: From BBQ to startup

FIV: Let’s move on to CannaZen. How did the idea of setting up a platform for medical cannabis come about?

Stephan Czaja: We’ve known each other forever, almost ten years. David has had his companies, I mean forever. Then we went out for dinner in early 2024 and ….

David showed me that you can easily order medical cannabis online in 5 minutes. I couldn’t believe it until we actually got a cannabis prescription – without all the stress of buying cannabis.

David Krems: The disadvantage of all the providers is that they are from Malta, London, none of them are from Germany. That’s how CannaZen was born.

Stephan Czaja: Exactly. Excellent customer service, weed with one hundred percent quality from renowned producers and fast home delivery. So you save yourself all the trips, the search for a doctor, the waiting, the waiting room and then the search for a pharmacy and so on. And let’s be honest, many patients have saved themselves the stress and bought their marijuana from dealers.

Getting cannabis, made easy

David Krems: Yes, we have noticed that many patients have to struggle with hurdles, as Stephan already said, finding a doctor, waiting times, finding a pharmacy and very few people have bought from pharmacies so far. Until now, cannabis has mostly been obtained illegally. We wanted to create a solution that simplifies access to medicinal cannabis for everyone while maintaining the highest standards.

FIV: David, what vision are you pursuing with CannaZen?

David Krems: “ Our vision was clear: we wanted to create a platform that offers patients a simple and safe way to obtain medical cannabis. Our aim was to combine modern technology and personal support in order to optimally meet individual needs.

But there’s more to it than that: medical care in rural areas, for example. With online doctors and pharmacies, we are already making life easier for many people, especially working people who can’t just pop to the doctor.

Stephan Czaja: We also want to offer prompt delivery in larger cities, in just a few hours. Thinking further, Amazon is already testing the first drone hubs in the USA for the delivery of products and medicines. This is where the future lies, prompt delivery within an hour, no matter where in Germany, not just in Berlin, Hamburg or other major cities, but also in rural areas, where 29 percent of people live.

How does it work now, buying cannabis online

FIV: How does the platform work in detail?

David Krems: Patients start with a digital questionnaire that collects all the relevant information for our doctors. After the medical examination and approval, the prescription is transmitted digitally to one of our partner pharmacies. Delivery is then made directly to the front door within 48 hours.

Stephan Czaja: What was important to us was that the entire process is not only efficient, but also transparent. Patients know where they stand in the process at all times and can rely on a smooth service.

Why CannaZen? Differences

FIV: What distinguishes CannaZen from other providers?

Stephan Czaja: The payment was central, with us you only have one step and can order your cannabis conveniently to your home in 3-5 minutes. That means it’s simple and straightforward. With others, you almost always only get a cannabis prescription, so you have to go back to a pharmacy, which then doesn’t have strain A, B or C in stock and the search begins all over again.

David Krems: CannaZen solves that, you do everything through our service. We attach great importance to a combination of efficiency and individual support, and I’m also very active in this on a day-to-day basis. We also only work with certified doctors and pharmacies to ensure the highest quality standards.

And as I said at the beginning, we are based in Germany, not in Malta, Cyprus or London, we pay our taxes here and are always available.

FIV: David, how do you ensure that your offer meets legal requirements?

David Krems: We are in constant contact with lawyers and experts to ensure that all processes are compliant. At the same time, we have developed our systems in such a way that they meet the legal requirements.

The biggest hurdles in development so far

FIV: What challenges have you had to overcome so far?

David Krems: Security of supply, we currently have 40 varieties on offer and all of them should always be available and deliverable. Secondly, there are also payment providers, which was a lot of work. Then there was the logistics, which was one of the biggest challenges. It wasn’t easy to set up a system that could deliver throughout Germany within 48 hours.

Stephan Czaja: There was also the task of gaining the trust of patients, which is why we work a lot with well-known people who are cannabis patients themselves. They show on YouTube and Instagram how an order works and that builds trust. Especially in the sensitive area of medical cannabis, trust in the quality and safety of the product is crucial.

FIV: What do you think of the positive feedback from patients?

David Krems: The response has been overwhelming. Many people report that they have finally found a reliable and legal way to obtain their medication. This shows us that we are on the right track.

Cannabis market in the future

FIV: What’s coming in the future?

David Krems: We are currently working on live communication with your doctor. Without a visit, without a traditional telephone, directly from your cell phone. Some of our patients would like even more support from their doctor and we want to make this possible soon.

FIV: Stephan, are there any plans to expand into other countries?

Stephan Czaja: We’ll see. The demand for medicinal cannabis is also high elsewhere, but the legal framework is complex. We want to ensure that we can also offer the quality and efficiency that sets us apart outside Germany.

Message from CannaZen

FIV: What message do you have for potential partners or patients?

David Krems: We want to show that CannaZen stands for quality and trust. Patients can rely on us to provide them with a safe and uncomplicated solution.

Stephan Czaja: Exactly that! Quality.

Chrome Hearts – Handmade jewellery, clothing and even home accessories are sold by the label founded in 1988. Especially with rappers, but also with other celebrities, the biker-style inspired designs are particularly popular. Limited quantities and the famous wearers of the designs help the brand to be successful. Especially the resale price of Chrome Hearts products is often higher than the original retail price. Find out everything about the brand’s range and what makes it so successful here.

Chrome Hearts: Meaning, Founder and Style

To give you a rough idea of why Chrome Hearts is enjoying such massive success, we’ve put together an overview that takes a closer look at the brand’s founders, history and signature style. It all started with a small custom jewellery production in Los Angeles, but it was after punk musician Steve Jones started wearing designs from the label on stage that the rapid rise began. The rock ‘n’ roll community was enthusiastic about the biker style. Especially the influence of Laurie Lynn as marketing director helped the fashion house to take off.

Richard Stark: Founder of Chrome Hearts

As a proud member of the Los Angeles biker scene and a big fan of Harley Davidson, Richard Stark had a dream in 1988 to fill the need for quality biker apparel, so he began working with John Bowman and Leonard Kamhout to create leather vests, jackets and jewelry they couldn’t find anywhere else. Thus was born the look Chrome Hearts is known for. Heavy crosses, skulls, and gothic lettering characterize the label’s image. Everything is handmade with the utmost care. This not only creates unique pieces, but also guarantees the top quality of the designs.

But this is also the origin of the price category in which jewelry, accessories and clothing lie. Best materials and craftsmanship have their price. In addition, of course, the popularity of the products also plays a role. The cooperation of the label with stars and starlets has contributed significantly to the popularity and of course to the prices.

Label Name: What does Chrome Hearts mean?

Shop fronts without names, simple interior design: Chrome Hearts is a label for real insiders. The reason is simple: it’s about a certain kind of nostalgia. Above all, the brand is against many customs that have established themselves in the fashion world with the digital age – for example, that you can read about parts of the collection and possible prices months before the actual release. Chrome Hearts doesn’t want that. The label, which finds its origins in the eighties, puts a lot of emphasis on staying true to its roots. So it also stayed with the name “Chrome Hearts”.

The title of the label itself probably goes back more to the chrome elements of motorcycles. These have found influence in various aspects of the biker scene. For example, also in the new school tattoo style. It is hard to imagine the rocker scene without tattoos – For this reason, the style has also been influenced by bike designs. The name “Chrome Hearts” can therefore be traced back to the brand’s cradle in the rocker scene. And to the label’s first major contract: production of costumes for the low-budget horror film “Chopper Chicks in Zombie Town”, which was still titled “Chrome Hearts” during the casting phase. The label’s title, however, is not relevant in itself, the brand creator said:

“Label it whatever you want. I just call Chrome Hearts, ‘Chrome Hearts’. If you have to tell somebody what you are – You aren’t.” – Richard Stark

Buy Chrome Hearts: Where can you get the label’s designs?

Getting one of the unique designs isn’t a problem in itself, but if you’ve fallen for a particular design, you’ll have to be prepared for a major search. Due to the limited nature, it is not easy to get any piece. Especially designs that were represented by stars are hardly available.

If you’re planning to hunt for your chosen favourite, don’t limit yourself to just one online flea market. Search multiple websites, Ebay and even sites like Etsy occasionally carry Chrome Hearts. The very most important rule is to look for the authenticity of the pieces. Ask for invoices or other proof that it is not a counterfeit product. That would be extremely annoying and unfortunately Chrome Hearts fakes are very common.

Clothing: Jeans, hoodies and t-shirts from Chrome Hearts

If you want to be a bit closer to the big stars, you can purchase one of the brand’s coveted designs. However, this is not that easy, as the limited pieces sell out quickly. However, the resale market of Chrome Hearts is huge, but here the prices can be much higher.

Hoodies with Off-White, Matty Boy and Co.

Chrome Hearts hoodies usually feature the Horseshoe logo and gothic lettering that the brand is known for. These hoodies are also 100% cotton and usually come in black with the label’s familiar Horseshoe logo and lettering. Editions in other colors are usually part of collaboration collections such as with Off-White. The Off-White x Chrome Hearts collection was launched in 2018 and the average resale price of the hoodie is around €1,500.

Chrome Hearts also released a collection with YouTuber Matty Boy in 2020. Again, also with sweaters that were available in different colors. Additionally, the collab models do feature the brand’s logo, but it is combined with other prints. It can be assumed that the hoodies are so popular because they can be easily integrated into a casual streetwear look, but are also suitable for relaxed leisure activities. Many high-fashion labels have started selling hoodies with the brand logo in the recent past. For example, hoodies by Celine can be seen on stars like Timothy Chalamet and Rihanna.

Denim: Levis vintage jeans with patches

The patches jeans from Chrome Hearts are something very special, because each one is unique. The reason for this is that Chrome Hearts selects each pair of processed jeans individually from second hand Levis jeans. While the model is the same, each pair of pants so naturally comes with its own unique character. The pants are then enhanced with Chrome Hearts signature accessories: cross patches and Chrome Hearts silver hardware. More specifically, this means that all of the buttons on the Levis jeans will be replaced. Seams are also reinforced and leather patches are securely fastened with double stitching.

Price: 3.520 €

T-shirts with Chrome Hearts logo

Chrome Hearts’ t-shirts, much like their hoodies, are often found in collaborations. And Chrome Hearts does a lot of that, as the limited edition and unique creations that come out of collaborations are exactly what the label is aiming for. T-shirts are also found in abundance on the resale market and are probably one of the most affordable pieces you can purchase from Chrome Hearts. Occasionally you can get them for less than 200 €.

Accessories: rings, necklaces and bags for men and women

Jewellery and accessories are the things Chrome Hearts started with, so the range has grown considerably since the eighties. Because especially the silver jewellery is something the fashion designers put their heart and soul into. Here also the reference from the rocker scene is further clearly recognizable.

Rings in gold, black and silver

Chrome Hearts rings are an absolute staple of the brand. Especially the chunkier models can often be found on the hands of the stars. However, the accessories that adorn rappers and co. are often custom-made. Nevertheless, there are a few popular models that you can get on the website or on resale:

Silver ‘Forever Spacer’ Ring

Silver Floral Cross Ring

Silver/Gold CH Cross Ring

Gold/Diamond ‘Keeper’ Ring

Chains with Chrome Hearts Motifs

Of course, chains in signature sterling silver are also offered. Daggers, crosses, stars: everything is there. Always in the style of the brand with eroded recesses and rocker motifs – As always, handmade in Los Angeles and produced to a high standard. These are the most popular designs:

Dagger Pendant

Cross Ball Small Pendant Necklace

Plus Safety Pin Chain

Cross Pendant Necklace

Chain Mille Cross Charm

Glasses with Chrome Hearts Details

The love for fine work and design has also inspired the designers to create glasses and decorate them with silver details and the brand’s signature designs. The frames are available on resale and are priced around €1,500. The materials and careful manufacturing methods have created an uber modern frame with sleek black acetate rims and high quality silver temples and bridge.

Bella Hadid was also spotted sporting a pair of rimless square sunglasses. The side parts, as always decorated with familiar Chrome Hearts motifs. Incidentally, the model is a big fan of the exclusive designs and presents herself among others also in jeans and jewelry of the brand.

Unisex Beanies

A particularly coveted piece are the label’s beanies. As always in black and with Chrome Hearts Horseshoe or lettering. The original retail price of the headwear was 125 dollars, now they are traded for over 200€. This shows again what an incredible potential the designs have due to their position as a rarity. That’s exactly the reason why Chrome Hearts is going for crazier and crazier pieces and meanwhile also released plungers and smores-roasters, which were sold out in no time.

Video: Chrome Hearts Leather Belt and Style Tips

Black leather, shimmering silver and big buckles. Belts are always represented in the rocker scene and also form an accessory outside of this, which can perfectly complete a simple outfit. Especially the striking belt buckles help a restrained outfit on the jump. Different belt lengths, widths and colors fulfill different functions. A few tips and tricks you get in this video:

Popular bag: Duffle Bag

The Chrome Hearts Duffle Bags once again feature the use of leather and silver. The leather applications are the usual Chrome Hearts shapes and motifs in black on black. The hardware of the bags are particularly exciting: The pendants, which can also be found on chains, are cleverly used here as zippers.

Caps from Chrome Hearts: Video about “Recognizing Authenticity

The Chrome Hearts caps are also decorated with real silver details. But especially here exists a large market of fake products. Sometimes it can be difficult to tell them apart from the real thing. To make sure you don’t pay too much money for a product that turns out to be fake, we’ve put together a video that shows you what to look for when buying.

Erling Persson’s concept was successful and after a short time the business expanded into Scandinavia, followed by Europe, America and Asia. Eleven years later, the designer bought out Mauritz Widforss, a fishing outfitter. This is where the present name of the model label Hennes and Mauritz came from. For many years H&M has been one of the most popular fashion stores in Europe. Since 2004, the brand has been offering collections in cooperation with world-famous designers, including Karl Lagerfeld and Versace. Celebrities also get the chance to cooperate with the company.

Today, Ted Baker is considered an international luxury brand. Based in Great Britain, the brand is represented for men and women, as well as for children. Your trademark: The lush, playful and flowery design. A label that initially specialized only in menswear, and now offers everything from clothing to bags. Only very few people know that the idea of this store came to Ray Kelvin during a fishing trip. But why wasn’t the label named after its inventor, and what was Ted Baker once before? You can find out all this here!

The creation of the fashion label Ted Baker

Ray Kelvin once made a name for himself in 1988 as a shirt specialist. Humor has always been Ray’s greatest strength. The designer also created his fashion then and now according to this motto. This is reflected in the magnificent patterns of his designer pieces and in his store concept at that time. Nowadays, the colorful bags and flowery dresses are what you would imagine under the brand Ted Baker. In the past, Ray was known for something completely different. After his first store offered a laundry service for every shirt he bought, people began to notice him. No Ordinary Designer Label’, they called Ray’s shirt brand. Customers always liked to go to the designer because his personality was part of the business. Ray opened his first store in Glasgow, Scotland, closely followed by King Street, Manchester and the Nottingham Exchange Arcade. Ray also had an eye for quality from the beginning, which is why he showed a great attention to detail. And it was worth it! Although the then 33-year-old had never believed that his label would ever become so famous, he quickly felt his success and became one of the leading lifestyle brands in the UK.

Ted Baker: The ‘No Ordinary Designer Label

But why did Ray christen his fashion label with the name Ted Baker? Ray first heard the name Ted Baker in a conversation. Since he was not sure at the beginning of his label that this would not be a total flop, he decided to keep his own name out of the brand. The designer saw this name as his personal, made-up alter-ego and thought it was appropriate. And all this came about during a fishing trip!

An idea becomes a success story

Here you will find a chronological overview of Ray Kelvin’s successes, from the beginning to the year 2000:

1987: The idea for a global brand came to Ray while fishing.

1988: Opening of the first store in Glasgow, closely followed by King Street, Manchester and Nottingham Exchange Arcade.

1990: The first store in London is opened in Covent Garden and the company is taken over completely by Goldberg and Sons

1992: The Blue Baker collection is launched.

1993: Further stores are opened in Soho, London, the Victoria Quarter in Leeds and Bridlesmith Gate in Nottingham Ted Baker becomes a private company.

1994: Start of wholesale business in the United Kingdom. A further store in Liverpool’s Button Street opens its doors.

1995: The Ted Baker Woman and Ted Baker Lite collections are launched.

1996: Start of the wholesale business in the USA on the occasion of the Magic 1996 Trade Festival and launch of the Teddy Boy collection.

1997: Ted Baker becomes a publicly traded company and operates under the trade name ‘No Ordinary Designer Label Limited’. The stores in Liverpool and Glasgow are expanded and

renovated.

1998: Opening of the very first independent store on American soil in New York and www.tedbaker.co.uk goes online for the first time. The launch of Skinwear and the underwear collectioncompleted the year.

1999: The Endurance Suit is designed and a new women’s fragrance is introduced. The online store records its first sales. A women’s clothing store is opened in Manchester Triangle Centre, a store in Bluewater and the first store in Stockholm.

2000: Launch of the Ted Baker shoe collection and the Teddy Girl collection. Move to The Ugly Brown Building and signing of the licensing agreement with Hartmarx Corp in the USA.

Opening of the largest Ted Baker store in Birmingham and new stores in Richmond, Canary Wharf and King’s Road in London.

Ray’s unique marketing strategy

Advertising via television or posters? Ted Baker used nothing of the sort to promote his products. Word of mouth, that was the key to Ray’s marketing strategy. So there were original concepts and giveaways that made people aware of Ted Baker. Since this strategy was not common at that time, the brand name spread rapidly. The awarding of “Paxo Stuffing” at Christmas, chocolate bunnies at Easter or in 2006 special World Cup soccer tickets ensured Ted Baker’s success. Without a single advertising campaign, the designer managed to develop into an international fashion label.

33 years of Ted Bakers: The assortment today

Today the brand offers a wide range of collections, including Men’s and women’s apparel, Global, Endurance, Pashion, Langley, accessories, fragrances, skinwear, shoes, eyewear, cell phone cases and watches. The designer’s British collection is mainly known for its original look. Large floral patterns, frills, pleats, bows and flounces set the stage for the unique products. Extravagant, timeless and classic – with Ted Baker you will stand out!

Ethical principles of the brand

Three important principles determine the label today. First, Ted Baker is very respectful of its impact on the environment. By reducing production waste or managing sustainable packaging and transportation, they contribute greatly to improving the environment. The well-being of the employees and the customers is also a priority. Last but not least, Ted Baker tries to focus on the sustainability of its products, which is why quality is paramount in order to increase the lifetime of all products. Do you think the brand keeps its promises?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_V281czFZo

Ray Kelvin’s resignation after harassment allegations

Hugs and ear massages: Many of his employees accused this behavior in 2019. CEO Ray Kelvin is said to have hugged employees against their will, as well as urged them to sit on his knees and have their ears massaged. The 62-year-old did not confirm these accusations. Despite all of this, he resigned from his position as CEO with immediate effect, after numerous media outlets demanded Ray’s resignation. COO Lindsay Page, is to continue to run the company in his place. But what exactly is the truth of the accusations?

“I’ve decided it’s the right step to leave Ted to allow the company to focus on being the outstanding brand it is. So it can face 2019 with fresh energy and a new spirit”.

Ray Kelvin has always been a mystery. At official photo events, the inventor of the fashion label liked to keep a hat or even a shoe in front of his face to stay in the background as much as possible. There are also no interviews with the designer, which underlines his anonymity. And no wonder, hardly anyone knows that behind the luxury brand hides this somewhat quirky guy. His sense of humor also shaped his success story, but in the end he was accused of harassment. According to him, hugs have probably always been part of the corporate culture. But they were never imposed, he says.

What does the brand’s future look like?

After inventor Ray Kelvin left the company, he stayed out of the spotlight for a while. Lindsay Page, the company’s new CEO, now has power over the fashion label. But what happens to the brand now? Shortly after the accusations about Ray’s misconduct, the company’s stock fell sharply. The share price already dropped from GBP 32 (EUR 35.4) per share in March 2019 to GBP 18 (EUR 19.9). At the close of trading, the value was below GBP 15 (EUR 16.6). However, the figures recovered again after the scandal was slowly forgotten.

Urban Outfitters has no history like other fashion brands. In 1970, three college students came up with the idea of opening a retail store with the name: Free People. Instead of selling novelty goods, they offered used clothing, accessories and home furnishings. Their goal was to sell these items to other students in a comfortable and casual atmosphere. The Philadelphia store was doing well because they created something new that had never existed before. They tried to preserve the original character of the building of their store to offer their articles with the aim of creating a new and fresh ambience from the old. In 1976 the brand Free People was renamed Urban Outfitters.

Retro, individual and never mainstream – The motto of Urban Outfitters

Today, the brand radiates a hip flair that is supported by its characteristic retro style. The target group mainly includes young adults who find their lifestyle reflected in the clothes, accessories and home furnishings. However, there is not only one representing brand in their assortment nowadays, Urban Outfitters represents numerous well-known fashion labels from Adidas to Levis. The idea, which was born when the brand’s college students founded the brand, has not been lost to this day.

Although Urban Outfitters no longer offers second-hand goods, the selection of items and the personality of the brand have not changed. Express your own lifestyle” – the brand’s motto is reflected in the individual pieces of clothing. Urban Outfitters faces the daily challenge of not becoming mainstream, because that’s boring! Why walk around like everyone else when there’s no other way? Why not stand out and really wear what you are made of? The hipster label underlines this attraction for individuality.

What’s IN this fall at Urban Outfitters?

Baggy trousers, oversized jackets and cropped t-shirts, that’s this year’s motto of Urban Outfitters.
