Cannabis legalization worldwide: overview

Cannabis laws vary widely around the world – from full legalization (Canada, Uruguay) to medical approval (over 50 countries) to the death penalty (Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia). For travelers, misunderstanding the local law is a serious risk. This overview summarizes the status of the most important countries.

Important: Cannabis laws change quickly. The information is as of 2025/2026, but national and regional laws can change at any time. Always obtain up-to-date information before traveling.

USA: State decides

In the USA, cannabis remains illegal at federal level (Controlled Substances Act, Schedule I). At the same time, over 24 states have legalized cannabis for adults:

Status

States (selection)

Details

Full legalization (adults)

California, Colorado, New York, Illinois, Massachusetts, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, Michigan and others.

Purchase, possession, consumption legal for adults (21+) in licensed dispensaries; possession limits per state (e.g. 28.5 g in CA)

Medical only

Florida, Texas (limited), Georgia, Kansas, etc.

Prescription required; dispensaries for patients

Illegal

Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska and others.

No cannabis legal

Attention travelers: No transporting cannabis across state lines – even between two legalized states is a federal violation. Airports fall under federal law → no cannabis at airports, even in CA or CO.

Canada: Fully legal nationwide

Canada fully legalized cannabis in October 2018 (Cannabis Act). For adults (19+ in most provinces, 18+ in Alberta and Quebec):
– Possession: up to 30 g of dried cannabis in public
– Purchase: only in licensed stores or online via provincial monopoly stores
– Cultivation: up to 4 plants per household
– Import/export: prohibited – also within the North American continent

Netherlands: Tolerated gray area

The Netherlands has not legalized cannabis, but tolerates (Gedoogbeleid) its sale in coffee shops under strict conditions:
– Coffeeshops in Amsterdam and other cities: purchase up to 5 g/day legally tolerated
– Possession up to 5 g: not punishable (administrative offense)
– Cultivation: illegal (procurement gap in the system)
– Since 2025: Pilot experiment with regulated cultivation in 10 cities underway – first steps towards real regulation

Spain: Cannabis clubs legal

Spain has no national legalization, but has a tolerated cannabis club system:
– Private cannabis clubs in Barcelona, Madrid: members consume together in closed rooms
– Possession for private use: no criminal law, but administrative offenses possible
– Consumption in public: fines of up to EUR 1,000
– No sale possible, no tourism in clubs (membership required)

Germany: legalization since 2024

From April 1, 2024, cannabis will be legal for adults (18+) in Germany:
– Possession: up to 25 g in public, up to 50 g at home
– Home-grown: up to 3 plants
– Cultivation associations (cannabis social clubs): up to 500 members, 25 g/month output
– Retail sale: not yet regulated (phase 2 of legalization under discussion)
– No export/import of cannabis – even from EU countries

Countries with the death penalty or long prison sentences

Zero-tolerance countries – avoid absolutely:
– Singapore: possession >500 g = death penalty (mandatory); smaller quantities = life imprisonment also possible
– Malaysia: possession >200 g = death penalty possible; also consumption = up to 5 years imprisonment
– Philippines: Drug war – possession associated with considerable risk to life
– Saudi Arabia, UAE: possession = years of imprisonment; no tolerance, no discretion
– Japan, South Korea: Strict criminal laws; cannabis-positive blood tests on entry (rare, but possible)

Travel warning: In Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia, even small amounts of cannabis can lead to many years in prison or the death penalty. CBD is also banned in many countries – even in the EU (France, Croatia). Always obtain up-to-date information before traveling.

More on the topic:

Algeria, Somalia and Tunisia are among the countries that frequently tweet red hearts . Algerians enjoy the country’s landscape and the national soccer team.

Top emojis in Asia and Oceania

Japan has the most geographically relevant emojis. Two examples are Oni Demons and Dango Candy . Japanese iPhones introduced the emoji keyboard in the 1990s, adding several Japanese symbols to Unicode.

According to Unicode, this sparkly emoji , a “Japanese original,” is the most popular on Twitter in Japan.
Top emojis in Europe

Flags are used in more tweets than any other emoji in 19 of the 51 European countries. During the period under consideration, Poland was the only country that tweeted the Ukrainian flag more often than its own, which coincided with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Pack your bags and immerse yourself in the Danish way of life – your dream vacation starts here!

Denmark: A Kingdom in the North

Why do we love Denmark?

Beautiful coastal landscapes: Baltic Sea and North Sea

Denmark is characterized by a breathtaking coastal landscape. The more than 7,000 kilometers of coastline stretch along the North Sea and the Baltic Sea and offer a wealth of natural wonders. You’ll find not only vast sandy beaches, but also unique dune formations sculpted by wind and waves. The picturesque coastal landscapes invite beach lovers to sunbathe and swim. Water sports enthusiasts can enjoy sailing, surfing and kite surfing. Nature lovers will find abundant wildlife in the coastal areas and have the opportunity to bird watch and hike through nature reserves.

Right to the big question: What suits you better, the <hiddenlink href="https://fivmagazine.de/ostsee-oder-nordsee-camping-ferienhaus-urlaub-machen-reise-check/" data-type="post" data-origin="de" data-origin-url="/?p=182790">Baltic Sea or the North Sea?</hiddenlink>

Cities and Culture: Old Town & Street Food

Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, is a cultural gem. The city is peppered with impressive museums, including the National Museum and the National Museum of Denmark, which offer a glimpse into the country’s rich history. Historic landmarks such as the Little Mermaid statue and Rosenborg Castle are world-renowned. The vibrant art and music scene makes Copenhagen a hotspot for creative minds. Scandinavian design is a hallmark of the city, and you can discover unique artwork and design products in the many stores and galeries. Copenhagen’s gastronomic scene is also top-notch, from traditional Danish dishes to international delicacies.

More on the most popular destination, Copenhagen, in a moment!

Outdoor activities: beach, dunes, nature

Denmark offers a variety of outdoor activities for adventure seekers. In addition to the popular cycling, there are great opportunities for hiking, fishing, sailing and windsurfing. The country’s landscape is lined with nature reserves and national parks, which are ideal for exploring the local flora and fauna. You can hike through dense forests, along rivers and lakes, or venture into the waters for fishing or water sports.

Relaxation and “Hygge

Denmark is famous for its concept of “hygge”. This word stands for coziness and relaxation. The atmosphere in the coastal towns and the typical Danish vacation homes radiates exactly this feeling. There is nothing like feeling the wind in your hair while walking along the beach and then stopping at a cozy café or your <hiddenlink href="https://fivmagazine.de/ferienhaus-daenemark-familie-hund-erfahrungsbericht-ferienhaus-checkliste/" data-type="post" data-origin="de" data-origin-url="/?p=182783">Danish vacation home</hiddenlink> and relaxing with a cup of coffee or tea. This relaxed way of life attracts many visitors who want to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Child friendliness: family vacation

Denmark is an extremely child-friendly country. Many resorts and cities offer a wealth of activities and attractions tailored specifically for families. Theme parks such as Legoland and animal parks provide hours of entertainment for children of all ages. The child-friendly beaches are safe and offer shallow water for splashing and playing.

Short distances: Experience a lot

The small size of Denmark makes it easy to explore different regions of the country during a vacation. Within short distances you can travel from the coasts to the cities and further to the rural areas. This allows you to enjoy a wide range of experiences in a relatively short period of time without having to travel long distances. You can easily move from the beaches of the North Sea to the historical sites of Copenhagen, experiencing the country’s scenic diversity.

This brings us directly to one of the hotspots in Denmark: Copenhagen.

Blondbynana in interview – Blondbynana or rather Nadine is a content creator on Instagram and TikTok and gained her fame by participating in “Big Brother” in 2003. Nadine has one goal: to make hot flashes sexy! She wants to encourage women to accept getting older and live your life the way you want for yourself without listening to what others say. She inspires with her extravagant, provocative style and dress. Learn more about the encourager here!

She makes hot flashes sexy

In this interview, we talk to Nadine about her goal of encouraging women. On her social media channels, she introduces herself as an encourager, but what exactly is that? She also answers questions about the fear of getting older and shares tips for you to accept getting older. Furthermore, she tells us about her dream to have her own show and her participation in “Big Brother” in 2003. Nadine likes to dress flashy and extravagant, so we asked her where she shops for her outfits. She also has big plans for next year, which she tells us a little bit about. All this and more about Nadine you can find out here in this interview!

Encourager – what is that actually?

FIV: Hello dear Nadine, thank you very much for taking the time for this interview today. Let’s start directly with the first question. On your social media channels, you introduce yourself as an encourager. Can you define for our readers what that actually means?

Nadine: Actually, I just live my life as I like it, previously often smiled at from the side (just on’m village) my clothing style, my hairstyles, my make up … I have always been experimental. What I want to say, I have always remained Nana, only the expectations of us women, especially now at my age, are changing. Not with me, I’m not about being rebellious, I just don’t see why I should change: I exemplify what many do not dare to do.

Afraid of getting older? No!!

FIV: If someone stands by his age, it’s you! Yet you don’t see age as a limit to doing what you want to do. Therefore, we asked ourselves whether you personally have never been afraid of getting older or whether this was also a kind of process for you?

Nadine: I really wasn’t even afraid, we’re all in the same boat.

Photo: Anastastia Kapluggin

“Acceptance is the magic word”

FIV: You’re right about that! You make hot flashes sexy and inspire many women to not be afraid of getting older either. What do you think needs to change for the general fear of aging to go away?

Nadine: Acceptance is the magic word. We often compare ourselves and when something or someone is different, we often tend to devalue them. I think we’re on the right track, I’ve already been approached a few times by very young women when I was celebrating in Cologne that they no longer fear getting older because of me or my content.

Tips to accept aging

FIV: That’s great! Do you have any simple tips for our readers to build that acceptance?

Nadine: Yes, I did – just keep doing what you’re doing and don’t overthink, am I still allowed to do that at my age – just DO IT!

“Women wilt with the years…”

FIV: Why do you think this phrase “women wither with age, men become interesting” is so ingrained in our society?

Nadine: Men don’t age better than women, it’s just socially accepted. Man divorces & marries a viiiieeeel younger woman = normal! And we have it for decades in the advertising got conveyed.

The dream of your own show

FIV: Now we would like to know more about you. You expressed the dream that you would like to have your own show. Would you like to tell us a little more about this dream, such as the subject?

Nadine: Exactly, I want to reach more women and give them the courage to stand up for themselves and their dreams, it doesn’t always have to be something big, often it’s little things like going on vacation alone or going to the cinema alone etc.. Courage to do what you just want, without thinking about what others might say or think. What do we have to lose? Friendship with yourself is worth so much more than the talk of others!

Photo: Anastastia Kapluggin

Participation in “Big Brother” in 2003

FIV: In 2003 you took part in “Big Brother”. Would you like to summarize your experiences for us?

Nadine: It’s also an experience I’m very proud to have had. At the time, I deliberately discussed only with my closest confidants whether I should do the TV format. I knew there would be plenty of headwind coming my way – there was & that’s exactly why I’m proud that I had the courage to do something, even though I knew there would be trouble coming my way. An unforgettable time inside as well as afterwards outside, which I would not want to miss.

Nadine’s outfits: sexy & vintage

FIV: Fashion is one of your passions. It’s not for nothing that you were Shopping Queen in 2021. You love to dress stylishly, but also extravagantly and provocatively. Where do you prefer to buy your outfits?

Nadine: I LOVE vintage, my winner outfit from Shopping Queen I also bought used. I love things with a story & sexy it may also be – I must always feel 100% comfortable in my clothes and exactly then I love to present myself.

Travel through Europe by van

FIV: Also, you planned to buy a van and travel around Europe by yourself. Which country would be your first destination and why?

Nadine: My first trip will be towards Italy, through Austria, to meet as many spectators as possible – because I’m not traveling alone: in my luggage are all my friends & spectators.

FIV: You are truly an inspiration to all women! Thank you again for your time and the nice interview. We wish you all the best on your way!

Franziskaelea in interview: About Riding & Mental Health

Horses, horses, horses! Franziska’s passion is riding. Back when she was 11 years old, she discovered riding for herself and today it is a kind of therapy, because some time ago she was diagnosed with Boderline Personality Disorder. She is a content creator and shares a lot of horse content, but also her experiences with her disorder on Instagram and TikTok with her community to encourage others. But not only that! Now she is also an author and from January you can buy Franziska’s own book about Borderline on Amazon. In this interview with our magazine, we talked with Franziska about riding and Mental Health. We went with her to the beginnings of her riding career and asked her how she discovered riding for herself and what meaning it has for her today. She also tells us where she buys her riding clothes. Franziska loves spending time with her horse the most, which is why she can be found in the stable every day. She tells us what her daily routine is like there and which must-haves always have to be there. She also talks to us about her borderline diagnosis and how she deals with it. You can find out all this and more here in this interview!

Sol.and.pepper in interview: About travel indefinitely

Behind the name Sol.and.pepper are Julie and Moritz, who went on an indefinite trip almost four years ago with their children, their Great Dane mix Pepper and a converted van. Julie and Moritz are content creators on Instagram, sharing their incredible lives with their nearly 245,000 followers. In just under four years, the family has traveled to 22 countries. In addition, the two run a blog on which they share their thoughts and feelings. The two are living the dream of many people. But how did it all begin? Julie and Moritz look back in time with our magazine to the moment when they both made the decision to travel together indefinitely. We also talk about the reaction of their environment and the associated bureaucratic hurdles. They also shared tips for you to take such a step. Furthermore, we talk about must haves for such a trip, already experienced adventures and future plans. Also the probably most interesting question to the two, whether they can imagine a return to Germany or perhaps even have already planned, is answered in this interview!

Nightlife: Rustic pubs & exclusive clubs

When the sun goes down, people are drawn to the streets. On the one hand, this is reflected in the opening hours of the restaurants, which are usually open after 8 pm, on the other hand, the Mediterranean culture is also reflected in the exciting nightlife of the metropolis. Whether you like rustic pubs in traditional style or you prefer exclusive clubs with electronic beats, Lisbon’s nightlife could hardly be more diverse. In the Docas, you’ll find restaurants and bars as well as chic party venues in the renovated warehouses. The old town of Tejo is known as an absolute party hotspot. Here the locals party both on the street and in the countless small bars.

In addition to the incredible cultural richness, Lisbon also has something to offer vacationers who like to take things a little more relaxed. There is no beach directly in the city, but water rats will certainly get their money’s worth in the immediate vicinity. At Praia do Guincho, the rough water conditions make it a true paradise, especially for surfers. If you prefer windsurfing and kitesurfing, you will also find numerous places to go here. If you are looking for a relaxing break, you should head for the two lagoons of Praia da Lagoa de Albufeira. Summer, sun, beach and sea are here as far as the eye can see. So nothing stands in the way of a typical beach vacation.

Explore Europe – Canyons like in America, Greek temples in Germany, beaches like in the Caribbean and a river like the Amazon. We show you 5 destinations in Europe that will surprise you. You already know Europe inside out? Let’s take a look! The countries are more diverse than we often think. If you often take a short trip during the long weekend, you will quickly get a better picture of the different regions. With our insider tips, you’ll feel like you’re on a trip around the world.

Explore Europe with light luggage and a small purse

Nevertheless, you don’t have to dig deep into your pocket or accept long journeys. Some of our insider tips are located directly in Germany and can be reached in just a few hours by train or car. For other highlights abroad, you can reach your destination quickly with a short flight.

Please inform yourself in advance about the Corona regulations at the respective destinations!

Short trips in vogue: the advantages

Shorter trips over a long weekend are trendy anyway and so you can get to know many more different destinations within a year instead of one big holiday on several breaks. If you are flexible, you can also benefit from short-term offers and often save a lot of money. To fill vacant rooms in the hotel or on the plane, there are then special bargains.

The advantages: Several short holidays a year, different destinations & lots of flexibility!

Collect bonus miles, credits & Co.

If you travel more often, you can also collect bonus miles and use your credit card for this purpose. With special programs, various expenses are booked as credits that you can convert into air miles. However, there are differences depending on the program and card. It helps to compare in advance what is the best solution for you. If you prefer to travel by train, you can also participate in a bonus programme with Deutsche Bahn. Points are credited for each journey, which you can convert into upgrades or even international free j ourneys.

Five short trips for the long weekend: Our tips!

Now you have the choice – which of our destinations will be next? Stunning beach, pristine jungle or modern skyline, Europe is diverse and has something for everyone. Here we show you our favourite places.

Peenestrom in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: The Amazon of the North

If you’ve always wanted to experience the jungle-like wetlands around the Amazon, you don’t have to leave for South America right away. A short trip to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern can also help. The coastal river Peene with its Peenestrom delta is considered the “Amazon of the North” and flows through a similarly lush green belt as its famous relative. The Peene landscape stretches for around 100 kilometres and is home to some rare animal and plant species. The best way to get an idea of this is to glide along the river in a canoe, kayak or quietly motorised solar-powered boat. Don’t be surprised to see beavers, cormorants and sea eagles.

Our tip: Rent a canoe, kayak or boat to explore the river.

But be careful: the current is strong, especially in the direction of the delta! So before you let yourself drift down one of the numerous arms of the Peene into the Baltic Sea, try a detour to the beautiful little Hanseatic towns along the river. Demmin, for example, where the Peene flows together with the Tollense and the Trebel, has only about 10,000 inhabitants, but an open-air museum of Hanseatic history and medieval fortifications to marvel at. Anklam is not much bigger, but as the birthplace of Otto Lilienthal it has a museum dedicated to the aviation pioneer.

Tara Gorge in Montenegro: Dinaric Mountains & Rugged Canyons

Montenegro is a small country on the Adriatic Sea between Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia and Albania. The still young republic is still considered a real insider tip. Especially those who are looking for unspoilt nature will get their money’s worth here. The hinterland is sparsely populated and characterised by the Dinaric Mountains with high peaks and rugged canyons. The Tara Gorge, for example, is one of the deepest in Europe – it stretches for a total of around 78 kilometres. In some places, the cliffs drop up to 1,300 metres into the depths.

Montenegro is considered an absolute insider tip in Europe

The gorge towards the end is particularly impressive. The area has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1980. On the eponymous Tara River, which meanders through the rocky landscape for a total of over 140 kilometres, you can go canoeing and kayaking or rafting over the rapids and through waterfalls.

The Durdevica Bridge towers 150 meters above the Tara Canyon in Montenegro.

Valhalla in Bavaria: Historical monument from antiquity

Temples like the ones in Greece can also be found above the Danube near Regensburg. Don’t you think so? Then go up to Valhalla on a long weekend. The monument, built in the middle of the 19th century, makes you think you’re on the Acropolis in Athens. The Parthenon temple there was the inspiration for the Valhalla, which King Ludwig I had built. The marble structure, 125 metres long and 55 metres high, towers impressively over the Danube and can be climbed on foot via almost 500 steps. This is especially worthwhile when the sun is setting, because the evening panorama is enchanting.

Our tip: Go there best in the evening to see the sunset here

In the monument itself, however, there is still enough to see. The visit is well worth it thanks to the moderate entrance fees. A marble-lined interior acts as an exhibition space for a large collection of busts. Once, there were 96 busts originally that were dedicated to selected rulers, generals, scientists and artists of the 19th century. Since the 1960s, new busts of contemporary personalities have been added again and again.

If you’re so close to Regensburg, you should treat the beautiful Bavarian city to a flying visit. The medieval old town is not only well preserved, but its monuments are also part of the UNESCO World Heritage. With the official tourist app, you can put together your own city tour for the long weekend. Maybe you’ll even have time to take a boat trip on the Danube and admire the Valhalla from the waterline. By the way, there are many other mysterious and original places to experience along the river, once you have caught the fever around Regensburg.

Dream beaches in Scotland: Paradise coastlines

For a trip to the Caribbean, you’ll need a little more time than just a long weekend. But if you’re still craving turquoise waters and fine white sand, you’ll find it in Scotland. The country’s rugged west coast is home to a number of beautiful beaches that score one thing above all else: You’ll usually be completely alone here. The area around Loch Morar and Loch Nevis has a particularly large number of paradisiacal stretches of coastline. The Silver Sands of Morar or Camusdarach Beach are among the most beautiful in Scotland.

Worthwhile are also side trips to some of the numerous islands:

Isle of Colonsay – Kiloran Bay

Isle of Harris – Luskentyre Bay

Isle of North Uist – Clachan, Sands, Traigh Iar Beach

These are indeed only single suggestions, because everywhere you can discover paradisiacal beach sections at the lonely coast in between.

Misty Jungle on La Gomera: National Park for Outdoor Friends

Our fifth tip is something for outdoor enthusiasts. A real jungle is not only to be found in Brazil or on the Indonesian islands. All you have to do is travel to the Spanish island of La Gomera, which is part of the Canary Islands. Monteverde is the name of the cloud forest in the middle of the Garajonay National Park on the 1490-metre-high mountain of the same name.

Unlike the dry and volcanic coastal regions, the climate in the centre of the island and especially in the extraordinary laurel forest is humid and tropical. The jungle also consists of huge, meter-high ferns and huge moss- and lichen-covered trees. The fauna is also unique – there are over 150 species living there that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. You can theoretically observe more than 1,000 different species there. In the midst of the jungle and its animal inhabitants, it is therefore not difficult to feel as if you are in another world – a paradise for adventurers. Hikers in particular get their money’s worth, as there are various well-developed trails and tours through the national park.

Here you can find out all about the different types of camping, the different destinations of campers worldwide and we’ll give you a few important tips for your next camping holiday.

Types of camping: tent, installation, camper & Co.

Whether tent, built-in or motorhome – there are different types of accommodation for the different needs of camping lovers. The different types of camping differ in price range and adventure degree. For true Indians who want to feel completely connected to nature, a simple tent is more suitable than a caravan. And for those who want a relaxing family holiday at the campsite, a mobile home is more suitable than a roof tent. There are different offers for different expectations. Each accommodation has its advantages and disadvantages, you just have to choose the accommodation that suits you best.

The most popular ways to camp:

Mobile homes and caravans – the comfortable way to camp

Rooftop tent – Do it yourself for your own car

Tent – Flexible, quick to set up and for every terrain

Camping under the open sky: pure nature

In the middle of nature – that is probably the most decisive argument for camping. Hear the sounds of rain at night, be woken up in the morning by the chirping of birds and spend the night exactly where you want to. Camping offers great flexibility when it comes to choosing a place to sleep. Wherever there is room, the camp can be set up. In addition, camping is the cheapest camping option, a throwing tent for two people is available from 25 Euros.

What you have to think about when camping is sleeping bags, otherwise it can get quite cold at night. A tent offers almost no insulation, so the comfort depends on the weather. Many tents are also not waterproof, so if it starts to pour out of buckets, the tent is soon under water. A simple tent also lacks sanitary facilities, but you get a real adventure feeling in the middle of the wilderness.

Advantages camping

Inexpensive, throwing tents for two are available from 25 Euro

Overnight stay in the open nature with starry sky

Not tied to one place

Disadvantages camping

Lack of comfort.

Sanitary facilities are missing

Dependent on the weather

Roof tent – sleeping on the roof of your own car

A roof tent is a slightly more comfortable option than a standard tent, because they are often hard-shell tents. Hard-shell tents are not only quicker and easier to erect, but also have better insulation than normal tents. In winter or at night you are guaranteed to be less cold than in a throw tent, but roof tents heat up quickly. When the sun shines on the tent in the morning, it quickly turns into a sauna. If it rains, the hard-shell tent is mostly waterproof, but often there is no roofed entrance or rain protection and the sleeping bags get some rain. In addition, the shoes have to stay outside, because there is no storage for shoes inside the roof tent. This can be a bit inconvenient when it rains, but of course you can put your shoes in the car and climb barefoot into the inside of the roof tent. Rooftop tents tend to be a little more expensive than normal tents, but they are just as little tied to campsites and therefore offer the same adventures as normal tents, just a little more comfort.

Offroad through the mountains – Video

Advantages roof tent

fast assembly

Better insulated than standard tents

Not bound to campsites

Disadvantages roof tent

Will be warm in strong sunlight

No shelf for shoes, no covered entrance

Installation – kitchen, bed, sanitary facilities & shelves in the car

For slightly more advanced campers with a minibus or family car, it is a good idea to look around for an installation and turn the minibus into a camping bus. There are different types of installation, such as kitchens, beds, sanitary facilities or storage facilities. A caravan or motor home may offer more space than a VW Bulli, but the weatherproof camping bus can also be used in everyday life. Comfort is not guaranteed with every installation, but you can arrange your camper van exactly the way you would like it to be by using various built-in parts. The size of the camper is determined by the size of the car, thus, one has of course less space in one’s own minibus or family car than in the caravan, but therefore, an installation is much cheaper.

Advantages DIY installation

Favourable installation costs

Convert the minibus into a camping bus

Weatherproof.

Kitchens, beds, sanitary facilities or storage

Disadvantages DIY installation

You need your own car.

Not much room.

Caravan – camping in a trailer for the car

A caravan is a trailer that you can attach to your own car for a relaxed holiday. It offers more living comfort than all other camping variants, because you have your holiday accommodation separate from the car. This means that you are still mobile during your holiday and can go shopping with your car while your caravan is on the campsite. Due to the length of the car and trailer it is harder to find a place to park than with a motorhome, but this is the cheaper option. A caravan can also be extended with an awning, which provides even more space and comfort. If you want to transport a caravan across the country, you should be prepared for the fact that driving the car will be more difficult and you will need a BE driving licence to drive a caravan. With this camping version there is less wilderness feeling, but travelling with children is easier in a caravan than in a throw tent.

Advantages caravans

Your own car for trips and excursions

More living space

Can be extended by an awning

Cheaper than a camper van

Disadvantages caravans

Driving licence BE required

Harder to find a parking space

Difficult driving

Caravan – free camping or camping site, car & apartment at the same time

Find friends on the campsite and shared campfire or wild camping near a lake and just relax? With a motorhome both is possible, because the motorhome is a comfortable but a bit more expensive camping option. With a motorhome it is possible to camp out as well as park on a campsite. There is a high degree of flexibility, because the onward journey is easy and it is easier to find a pitch with a motorhome than with a long caravan. Once you arrive at your holiday destination, it’s handy to have bicycles on site or rent them if you need to go to the supermarket or the beach is a bit further away, as packing up the whole camp and moving the motorhome from the campsite is quite a hassle. Compared to a caravan it is easier to drive, but you can expect loud noises, because the driver’s cabin is not separated from the rest. So the faster you drive, the more the dishes rattle.

Advantages camper van

Easier to find a pitch/ camper van sites

Easy driving

High flexibility

Wild camps and camping grounds

Disadvantages camper van

Expensive

Loud noises while driving

Mobility is missing at the holiday destination

Camping at festivals – music, friends & fun

Festivals are also a good location for camping – because the tent offers cheap accommodation, mostly directly on the festival site. You should also inform yourself about such regulations in advance.

When camping you should always make sure that all the garbage you produce is taken away, even if the festival area is not an untouched piece of nature. In addition, you have to take care that not too much noise is made and that you show consideration for the other campers. If every camping enthusiast informs himself in advance about the regulations on the site, camping at festivals is guaranteed to be a lot of fun. Being woken up in the morning by playing music, having an instant coffee against tiredness and sitting and barbecuing together in the evening – that is festival camping.

And last but not least a headlamp in case you have to go for a night hike and need to see something in the dark.

Lake Garda – the great Italian lake lies between the Alps and the Po Valley. The famous Lake Garda convinces with its Italian and Mediterranean flair at mild temperatures. They say Lake Garda is the first breath of something southern for people coming from the north. At the famous lake you can really live out “dolce vita” and be enchanted by the beautiful and historical regions around Lake Garda. Nature fans, sports fans, culture and history fans will find Lake Garda the ideal holiday resort.

Low priced accommodation

Beautiful and spacious holiday apartments are currently in fashion. Be it a small holiday apartment or a holiday home with a large pool. At the beautiful Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy, there is also a wide range of holiday apartments. On Lake Garda you can rent houses, villas, bungalows or apartments. Holiday apartments are usually considerably cheaper than conventional hotels. It is all the more worthwhile if you want to take a holiday over a longer period of time – you can rent a holiday apartment for several weeks or even months for an affordable price, which makes the heart of bargain hunters beat faster.

Holiday Apartments on Lake Garda: convenient for families

By renting a holiday apartment you save a lot of money thanks to the equipment, because a holiday apartment is fully equipped and has your own kitchen, which has many advantages. You can prepare meals at a reasonable price, which saves you a visit to a restaurant, which would be anything but cheap, especially for a large family. You are also relatively flexible, as you don’t have to stick to certain buffet times, as in hotels. Furthermore, most holiday apartments have a living room: many parents can finish the evening after they have put the children to bed with a glass of wine, unlike in a hotel. Which is an advantage for animal lovers: in many holiday apartments you can take pets with you, so you do not have to worry about an animal sitter. Holiday flats are for people who like to be flexible and want to arrange the day as they like it.

cheap

flexible

bookable for a longer period

Luxury hotels offer first class food, rooms or even a high quality service. In a wellness hotel you can relax with massages or in the sauna, and forget the everyday life completely. No matter what kind of hotel: the high comfort is the biggest advantage of hotels. If you book full board, you do not have to worry about breakfast, lunch or dinner. One enjoys the service of the hotel kitchen. One can enjoy its quietness and relax. Especially working people enjoy the luxury of not having to cook or to take care of the dishes. The cleaning is also not necessary : the hotel staff will change the bed, change the towels or take care of the toiletries. Due to the flexibility of a hotel’s service, you have more time for yourself, the family, and you can simply enjoy your holiday to the fullest.
