Story, stars and rhinestones: The theater

Since its beginnings at the Moulin Rouge, artists who are extremely talented have performed on the legendary stage. First of all, Goulue, the muse of Toulouse-Lautrec, who together with her acolyte Valentin-le-Désossé sparked so many conversations on the subject, revolutionized the famous and unique French Cancan.

The ever larger and more spectacular shows eventually open up a new genre of their own. Thus, the Moulin Rouge became the cradle of music hall make.

Stars who performed at the Moulin Rouge

Not to mention all the famous artists who performed at the Moulin Rouge, such as:

Charles Trenet

Dean Martin

Edith Piaf

Ella Fiztgerald

Elton John

Frank Martin

Frank Sinatra

Jean Gabin

Line Renaud

Ray Charles

Yves Montand

After well over 100 years of a sensational show program, France’s greatest cabaret continues to inspire dreams in its latest program “Féerie”!

Two performances per evening, sixty artists on stage, magnificent decorations by exceptional craftsmen, original music, two hours of a wonderful mix of danced tables and surprising numbers, not forgetting the most characteristic dance of the Moulin Rouge, the French Cancan!

The Moulin Rouge is a dream world every night.

1.001 Show costumes in theater

The theater is particularly interested in preserving its unique expertise in the manufacture of show and music hall costumes. Recently, the company has purchased several of these workshops: Maison February for feathers, Maison Clairvoy for shoes, and Atelier Valentin for embroidery.

Every evening and every night, from more than 1,000 costumes, with feathers, zircons and sequins is invented, made with precision by our artisans.

A true French symbol, the Moulin Rouge will continue to shine throughout the world and become a must-see in Paris once again. At the foot of the Montmartre hill, the wings of the Moulin (mill) have been spinning for over 100 years and will continue to spin and make us dream.

25Hours Hotel Köln The Circle – you probably already know this hotel from Instagram! One of the most frequent pictures in Germany is taken here in the elevator. Since our editor was in town to plan the Fashion Week, she didn’t miss the chance to stop here on her trip – and stayed for two days. and spent two days at the 25Hours Hotel Cologne The Circle. Find out how she fared during her stay at one of the most popular hotels in the media metropolis and what makes the hotel a coveted hotspot for Instagram lovers here!

Twenty Five Hours Hotel: Arrival & Location

The 25Hours Hotel is located in the middle of Cologne’s city centre. Friesenplatz is nearby, as is Friesenstraße – one of the most popular places in Cologne to have fun. A few minutes’ walk away is also the city centre, perfect for shopping. There are also parks nearby and, of course, a lot of historical things to do in Cologne – from the world-famous cathedral to the chocolate museum.

Here again the location on the map and the address:

Address: Im Klapperhof 22-24, 50670 Cologne, Germany

Our experience at 25Hours The Circle: Check-In, Stay & Co!

Once arrived, it’s time for the check-in! It’s only a few minutes from the main train station to the hotel and suddenly you’re standing in front of it: A gigantic round building with over ten floors – the hotel is huge and is considered one of the tallest buildings in Cologne’s city centre. This also gives you a unique view, not only from your room, but also from the restaurant and the rooftop bar! Absolute eye-catcher: The small water ponds on the left and right at the entrance to the foyer. In a relaxed atmosphere, you can let the hotel take effect on your arrival:

Once again through the revolving door, briefly through the check-in and there it is! The futuristic elevator that I’ve seen at least 100 times on Instagram:

I was also in Cologne for work and so I got a few insider tips for you, directly from our editorial office, here in Cologne! Let’s start with what everyone loves: shopping!

Shopping tips in Cologne and popular shopping streets

Looking for the best shops and shopping streets in Cologne? Then you should definitely go to the city centre. The biggest shopping street is the Schildergasse. Here you can find everything from Zara and H&M to flagship stores of Apple and Nespresso. Around this big shopping street you will of course find many small alleys, small shopping arcades and of course luxury boutiques.

Must-See! The historic Cologne Cathedral

What you should definitely see as a tourist is the Cologne Cathedral. If you arrive by train, you will find it right next to the main station. Especially the size of the cathedral, as well as its gothic architecture invite you to marvel. At the same time, you immediately ask yourself how something so big could have been built so early? After all, the cathedral is over 800 years old. Tip. If possible, visit the cathedral on weekdays and in the early hours, not in the afternoon or on weekends. Here, the city center is absolutely crowded.

Tip: Weekdays are perfect for a trip to Cologne’s landmark!

Walking along the Rhine: Chocolate Museum & Rheinauhafen

Going for a walk? Sounds boring at first, but it’s beautiful on the Rhine! Here you have the historic architecture, old merchant houses, restaurants, the many ships for tourists that dock here and of course highlights like the chocolate museum, the Rheinauhafen but also RTL, the TV station that everyone knows. For example, from the main station you can walk perfectly over the cathedral to the chocolate museum and Rheinauhafen in the Südstadt. Here is a short route for you!

Real Cologne neighbourhoods: The best hotspots!

If you want to experience the real Cologne, then you should definitely visit the Belgian Quarter and Südstadt. But also Nippes is really nice and relatively easy to reach. Here you will find the real Cologne life.

Belgian Quarter

South Town

Nippes

By the way, you can easily walk to the Belgian Quarter. It will take you about 5 minutes. Tip! Around the Brüsseler Platz you will find great little cafes, restaurants and boutiques.

Conclusion: Two Days in 25 hours

I was in Cologne just to plan the new Fashion Week dates but, I experienced so much more! From shopping in the city center to a short trip to the cathedral to a walk along the Rhine – Cologne has so much to offer. And with the 25Hours Hotel, I had the perfect place to stay. The staff was very accommodating, the architecture and interior design unique and the rooms clean, aesthetic and spacious. Not to mention probably the most photographed elevator on Instagram! Whether it’s a business trip or a holiday with the family – the 25Hours meets all requirements.

Our rating 5/5 stars!

Ruby Ella in Cologne – Sophisticated designs, a prime location, friendly staff and unique flair in a class of its own! This is how the new Lean Luxury Hotel Ruby Ella in the media metropolis Cologne can be described. Here you can find out how our editor fared during her stay there – from check-in to the room to breakfast the next morning. Ruby Goes Late-Night – Welcome to Ruby Ella!

Ruby Ella Hotel: Arrival & Location

We all know it: the day at the office was long, the hour-long train ride tiring and the suitcase heavy. The Ruby Ella is not only centrally located. It was also easy to get here, both by car and by public transport.

Address: Hohenzollernring 79, 50672 Cologne, Germany

The hotel is somewhat hidden in the courtyard of the former Capitol. Not far away: the city centre, as well as the popular Belgian quarter. Absolute plus point: the quietness at night despite the proximity to bars, clubs & co – beauty sleep is guaranteed here!

Our experience at Ruby Ella: Arrival, stay & Co!

Even the first view of the property is convincing. The building was designed by architect Christoph Ingenhoven. The absolute eye-catchers here are the almost 100 trees and shrubs, which are planted offset on the façade of the hotel, as well as on the roof – a concept by landscape designer Enzo Enea.

Stunning design: sustainability meets entertainment

As soon as you arrive in the reception hall, you are immersed in the world of late night entertainment – trendy café, cosy bar and modern self-check in included. While the neon signs and cosy vintage furniture are reminiscent of the nostalgic charm of the late-night shows of the 90s, the high ceilings and concrete walls give the hotel an urban charm in a class of its own.

Shortly through the entrance area, and I was already at the reception or bar:

Self Check-In: How it works

I was especially impressed by the self check-in. After I was greeted in a friendly manner, I only had to leave my contact details (with the most modern touch screen of course). Since I did not use a daily room cleaning, I was also directly issued a voucher for a free drink at the bar and printed my room card. And all this in only 2 minutes. In short queries, the young ladies and gentlemen of the hotel staff were always with advice and smile on the lips to the side.

See for yourself how quick and easy the self check in at Ruby Hotel is:

By the way: Just as unproblematic was my check-out later. Simply throw the card in the box provided for this at the reception and the journey home can start.

Spacious & bright rooms with urban flair

Once checked in, I went straight to the fourth floor. If you want to enter the colorful world à la ‘Ruby goes Late Night’, you can choose between five room categories.

NEST Room (17 sqm)

COSY Room (18sqm)

LOVELY Room (19sqm)

WOW Room (28 sqm)

LOFT Room (32 sqm)

The rooms also have a great feel-good factor – they are furnished in typical Ruby Ella style: cosy, urban and yet with a touch of vintage. The windows are large and allow you to wake up to sunshine in the morning. The walls are painted in bright white and the floor is made of solid oak. Absolute eye-catchers here are not only the respective design highlights above the bed, but also the glass rain shower in the middle of the room.

The furnishings are of high quality, each room is lovingly decorated and the interior design is impeccable!

Delicious breakfast in the morning

To start the day right, the Ruby Ella Hotel offers a balanced breakfast with buffet, freshly squeezed orange juice and a variety of coffee specialties. Whether hot cappuccino, small espresso or latte macchiato with oat milk – everyone will find something here! In a relaxed atmosphere you can start your morning and plan your day.

Conclusion: Full marks for the Ruby Ella!

The Ruby Ella in Cologne – A hotel in a class of its own! The central location allows the proximity to cafés, bars, clubs and shops and the staff is friendly and always concerned about the well-being of the guest. While early risers can enjoy aromatic coffee and a colorful breakfast buffet, the bar delights in the evening and at night with a variety of delicious cocktails and long drinks.

Here is a summary of our experience:

Central location

Night rest despite city centre proximity

Friendly staff

Comfortable and high quality furnishings

Very good breakfast menu

Variety of cocktails

Extra plus: Stunning interior design

The Ruby Ella proves that functionality can also be combined with clever design and a great deal of comfort, delighting not only business travellers and commuters, but also families and holidaymakers.

Our rating: 5 / 5 stars!

Where can you find the tastiest food and the best treats at reasonable prices? Which dog groomer is good and sensitive to the puppies, thinks about details such as the undercoat, so that the hairstyle is perfect? Which dog trainer can we recommend for your puppy and the first exercises or training sessions? Here is our Cologne Guide for your dog!

Pet supplies: specialized trade in Cologne

Whether small mini dog breeds under 30 centimeters such as dachshund, Jack Russell Terrier, pug or even dwarf spitz or even large dogs such as Doberman, St. Bernard, Bernese mountain dog or boxer. The A&O, as with us humans, good food and enough water. That is half the battle to be happy. If you then have a warm, cuddly place to sleep, life is almost perfect.

Food, leash, treats – specialized trade

Just as you take care of yourself, you must now take care of your puppy! As already described in the guide puppy, the very first way before buying your puppy, leads you to a specialty store for pet supplies for your puppy initial equipment.

First of all you need food (dry and wet food), of course with a bowl (for food and water). In addition, a leash, collar and harness and a blanket for a cozy place to sleep. On top comes a little toy for chewing and distraction, as well as treats for reward. Then the insider tip for beginners: Puppy Pads!

Pet supplies: Tierliebeland

In Tierliebeland you can find everything for dogs and cats. The advantage: The shop is located in the city centre. So you can not only shop for yourself, but also make a little detour to Tierliebeland. The owner-operated shop has everything for dogs and cats, as well as a dog groomer. So you can kill 3 birds with one stone: haircut, food and accessories.

Why Tierliebeland? Be there once! In small talk, you’ll quickly see that there’s more here than just “selling products”. Every puppy is special and the more importantly, food has a huge impact on their well being. Just think about yourself! Frozen pizza or freshly cooked? Even for puppies there are big differences between industrial product and … but go yourself and get inspired for your, little puppy!

On Google, Tierliebeland has a full 5 / 5 stars, with almost 100 reviews, a really good address for your pup!

Google Rating: 5.0 / 5.0 Stars

Dog groomer: short and long hair with love

You probably know this topic yourself: How do you find a good groomer you can trust? Hairdressers are a dime a dozen, but as a dog owner you quickly learn that good dog hairdressers are rare. Even in big cities like Cologne and Berlin. Now there is another special feature: You have bought a puppy! Accordingly, you have few hairdressers and even fewer who approach the job with the right love and do not see dogs as a “product”, 4, 5 a day hairdressing. Therefore, we also have a recommendation for you here, which you and your puppy will love!

Taster day for puppies – get to know the dog salon

First of all, your puppy will not be coiffed immediately at a good groomer. The very first day is a little trial day for your puppy.

In this first taster day, your puppy will get to know the dog salon. Starting with the premises, to the hairdresser himself or herself, to a few of the tools: comb, scissors and hair dryer. Hairdressing is not done on a large scale, the baby fur is:

Removed from undercoat

Easily coiffed

After about 30 minutes and some small talk before and after, your dog has had his first appointment at the groomer! By the second visit, your pup knows the salon, the team, and the tools. This is the perfect way to prepare your pup for regular visits.

How often do you need to go to the groomer?

My little Pomeranian (Miniature Spitz) has to go to the groomer about every 6 weeks. I myself would even be willing to go 1x month, because so her fur is always neat and the hairstyle sits. Once a month wellness is ok or? Here is our recommendation for you in Cologne!

Dog groomer recommendation: Fellgeflüster

Why fur whisper? When I go to the groomer, I always tell him “go for it, you’re the professional!”. Just like I trust my hairdresser, I want to trust the hairdresser for my puppy. First, because little Peppa (that’s my Pomeranian’s name) is doing well and second, because I see the groomer 24/7!

Not only we love this salon, also on Google Fellgeflüster has whole 5 / 5 stars!

Finding a Vet: Experiences and recommendations

For doctors I don’t want to give you a direct recommendation, after all all doctors are great and do their best.

I will recommend this to you though: If you’re looking for a vet, it’s best to ask dog owners you see in your area. They’ve had a dog for a while and already have a vet that’s good. So instead of just relying on search results, ask people in your area who have experience! If you don’t know anyone directly or need a vet right now, make sure the vet is “not a big chain”.

On our first visit to the vet, we were in a veterinary clinic and had to wait a whole 3 hours. Why? We relied directly on the search results. Two days later, we got a top recommendation from our groomer. Now we are with a lovely vet who works alone and takes care of each animal individually instead of making mass appointments.

Tips for good veterinarians:

Ask dog owners in your area for their experience or recommendation.

If searching via the internet: make sure it’s not a big clinic. Rather a “small” doctor, with few, but good reviews.

At the vet you do all the standards, from chip (to recognize dogs) to the various vaccinations and also neutering.

Dog Trainer

Our next step with Neppa & Peppa, a good training for some standards. Starting with walking off leash, classics like man up and many, more little things you can train with your puppy.

Currently it’s still a little too cold, but next month it’s on!

Our first training, coming soon here!

Fashion Week Frankfurt – The Frankfurt Fashion Week starts in summer 2021! The city of Frankfurt speaks of an “investment”. It is official, the Fashion Week is moving to Frankfurt am Main. Fairs like Premium, Seek but also Neonyt are moving to the international banking metropolis Frankfurt. Instead of “Poor but sexy” (Berlin’s long-standing slogan), the fashion of the new seasons is now presented between high-rise buildings – an upgrade? We met with Stephan M. Czaja, owner of one of the biggest German model agencies “CM Models” and author of the most successful book for young models, “The Model Book”. With his Fashion Show Agency (from CM) he is also the organizer and host of the final Fashion Week Show in Berlin, the “Fashion Week Finals”. What does he say about the Fashion Week move from Berlin to Frankfurt?

Fashion Week moves to Frankfurt

This headline is not only making the rounds on Instagram: Fashion Week is moving to Frankfurt! Portals and newspapers are also reporting on this move. T-Online says: “New fashion hotspot – Bye-bye Berlin: New fashion capital Frankfurt”. The Süddeutsche writes: “Fashion Week move: Fashionable on the Main”.

“The Fashion Week format will have to be rethought”

This was said by Anita Tillmann, managing director of the organiser Premium Group. Anita Tillmann is one of the most important people for Fashion Week. That’s why they were particularly eagerly awaiting her statement. She is coming a bit closer to her home again. Anita Tillmann was born in Düsseldorf. She has turned her passion into her profession. After a diploma in textile and clothing management and postgraduate studies in marketing, as the Premium Group describes it on their website, her career has taken her from consulting for fashion companies with Kurt Salmon to successful fashion brands such as Joop! and Kathleen Madden. At the beginning of the 2000s, she moved to Pixelpark, the pioneer in online business, and consulted clients such as adidas and Mexx. Today, she and her Premium Group are responsible for the biggest trade fairs of the Fashion Week.

Premium, seek, neonite & co.

In addition to the Premium trade fair, the Seek trade fair for retailers, the Neonyt platform for sustainable fashion and the FashionSustain and FashionTech conferences will also move to the Main.

“We have no bad feelings for Berlin,” said Tillmann. However, Frankfurt offers different perspectives as the location of numerous textile fairs. In January 2021, Premium will be held in Berlin for the last time. Fashion Week Frankfurt is to become more innovative, digital and sustainable and will be held at various locations in the city in addition to the exhibition grounds – so T-Online.

TV News: Frankfurt wants to invest

The city of Frankfurt speaks of an “investment” and the FAZ says that Frankfurt is international, Berlin is not. Here is the report:

impact for Berlin: tourism and fashion industry

For the Berlin fashion location, the move to Frankfurt has far-reaching consequences for tourism as well as for the economy. The trade fairs are the economic driving force, bringing more than 70,000 visitors to the city each season, according to the Tagesspiegel. The Berlin Senate Department for Economics estimates the additional income from overnight stays, gastronomy and other services at 240 million euros.

loss of 240 million euros due to Berlin fashion location

The development of the fashion location Berlin in figures: There are over 2,000 companies in the capital. The fashion industry as a whole makes a turnover of over 2 billion euros in Berlin. With 200,000 trade visitors at the trade fair (source: Statista) from Germany, France, Italy and many other countries, the Berlin Fashion Week has developed into one of the leading trade fairs in Europe, with up to 50 shows in one week

According to a study by Investitionsbank Berlin, the additional economic output generated here in Berlin by Berlin Fashion Week is over 120 million euros per season; the Tagesspiegel reports up to 240 million euros. This is due, among other things, to over 200,000 hotel nights and growth in retail, restaurants, taxis and many more. In addition, a lot of public relations in the fashion industry for the city. In contrast, the city is investing around 33 million euros. A worthwhile business.

200,000 trade visitors

120 – 240 million Euro estimated turnover (depending on source)

50 shows a week

“We can only congratulate Frankfurt on this coup,” he told the German Press Agency on Monday. Fashion designer Harald Glööckler (55) described the move of the Fashion Week trade fair from Berlin to Frankfurt, announced for 2021, as a “great opportunity” for the city on the Main. He went on to say: “The Frankfurt hub with its airport stands for internationality and is a household name around the world”.

“I see great opportunities for Frankfurt to install an internationally important fashion fair.”

Interview: Fashion Week moves to Frankfurt

Stephan Czaja is the owner of one of the big German model agencies (CM Models), he is the author of the most successful book on the topic “become a model“, but he also has other companies, e.g. in the field of social media marketing. He organized the final fashion show of last year’s Berlin Fashion Week and today, in between his appointments, we were able to reach him briefly for an interview about Fashion Week Frankfurt!

Stephan Czaja on Fashion Week Frankfurt

FIV: You organized the final show of the last Berlin Fashion Week. Were you shocked today by the news that Fashion Week will move to Frankfurt am Main?

Stephan Czaja: Actually yes! Some friends had already written to me in the morning about WhatsApp and Instagram, but I thought it was just another crazy idea that was shared by many people and the media. After work I watched Euronews and when the news came up I thought “wow” and then my opinion was split in two.
On the one hand, Berlin is naturally losing a great deal of its international public relations, after all, Fashion Week is not just about fashion trade and fashion fairs; much of what happens outside the fairs is also happening. This is where companies meet, even those outside the trade, i.e. agencies, organizers, videographers, models, etc.

At the same time I know Frankfurt and the city has a really, extremely international flair due to the many skyscrapers. The airport is one of the largest in the world. Frankfurt is also a financial metropolis. Already many advantages. And if we are honest, the Fashion Week in Berlin has been a bit run down in the last few years.

FIV: You say that Berlin Fashion Week has been run down in recent years, what do you mean by that exactly?

Stephan Czaja: About 5 years ago the Fashion Week took place at the Brandenburg Gate, a great location for such an international event. But after that the locations became increasingly questionable. I still remember the Fashion Week in Wedding, in a former ice rink. Everybody who knows Wedding (Berlin) knows that this is not the most representative part of Berlin. Plattenbauten, a lot of rubbish on the streets. A great, honest district to live in but not for such an event where you invite guests from all over the world.

In this one week of the Fashion Week, more than 200,000 trade visitors arrive!

Then we went on to the Jandorf department store, very cramped. In short, for such an international relevance you should try a bit harder Berlin! This morning it was written in the Frankfurter Zeitung that Frankfurt is very much looking forward to Fashion Week and wants to invest. I am excited!

Fashion and finance: What do you say?

FIV: How would you describe the fashion scene in Frankfurt? Does an event like Fashion Week fit into the banking city?

Stephan Czaja: When it comes to fashion, Frankfurt is of course no name in the world, but that’s not what the Fashion Week is all about. After all, fashion designers come together here to present their fashion retailers from all over the world, especially of course from Europe. Accordingly, Frankfurt is an extremely international city, especially due to the large financial sector, the existing infrastructure for trade fairs but also due to the airport, which is still one of the largest in Europe.

What I find particularly interesting about Frankfurt is the skyline. Not for nothing is Frankfurt am Main also called Mainhattan, in reference to Manhattan, New York.

FIV: Will you also organize the first closing show of Frankfurt Fashion Week?

Stephan Czaja: Ever since I became aware of the news that Fashion Week was moving from Berlin to Frankfurt, I’ve been working hard to ensure that we also put on the final and hopefully, of course, biggest fashion show in Frankfurt. You are the first to know.

FIV: Thank you very much for the spontaneous interview!

Frankfurt: Fashion in Mainhatten

Frankfurt is best known as the economic and financial capital of Germany, but it is also one of the most desirable cities to live in and visit. With a rich collection of museums, historic buildings and a vibrant art and culture scene, Frankfurt is a surprisingly impressive place for a weekend break but also for fashion lovers, from 2021 at Fashion Week Frankfurt.

Before you set off, here are 10 facts you didn’t know about the city yet!

International, exhibition city and airport

It is estimated that people of about 180 different nationalities live in Frankfurt. This means that almost 1 in 3 people living here do not have a German passport. Frankfurt is one of the cities with the highest quality and satisfaction of life in Germany and Europe. Frankfurt’s nickname (Mainhatten) has evolved over the years because of its important skyline of skyscrapers, which is almost similar to the skyline of Manhattan, and the river Main, which divides the city in two. Culturally, Frankfurt is important, because not only Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of letterpress printing, lived and worked here, but also Johann Wolfgang Goethe was born here and grew up in Frankfurt. Frankfurt is home to the world’s largest fair for books, in keeping with the fashion fair that will soon be coming to the city. Big, bigger, Fraport: Frankfurt Airport is not only the busiest airport in Germany with the highest number of passengers and visitors, but also one of the largest airports in the world.

Many facts that speak for the trade fair city Frankfurt.
