Jil Eileen: Her life traveling around the world

FIV: As can be seen in your Instagram feed, you have already seen and traveled to many countries. Which of these destinations have been your favorite so far?

Jil: Phew that’s a very difficult question, I’ve already traveled to 63 countries and each one had something special in its own way. I couldn’t decide where I liked it best, I would go to every country I’ve been to again.

FIV: On social media and on your website, you talk almost exclusively about travel. How did you develop this passion? What excites you most about traveling?

Jil: I’ve always been very adventurous and loved getting to know new places, cultures and people. In 2018, I quit my job and set off alone with a backpack to travel the world. Even before that, I had always planned my days off and vacations so that I could travel as much as possible, but once I had traveled full-time, I was hooked. What excites me most about traveling is discovering new places, feeling the freedom and being myself.

Happiness is the only thing that doubles when you share it, so why not share what makes me happy with you!

FIV: You are only 26 years old and still very young. How do you finance your many trips? How frugal are you and do you have any tips for our readers on how to travel the world cheaply?

Jil: I saved well in advance for my year solo trip around the world, I had 3-4 jobs at the same time and was really hard-working. So I was always able to put a lot of money aside. It’s very important to always keep in mind that ‘every little helps’. This applies to saving and spending. Before you save nothing, save at least something. Then it may take longer to reach your target amount, but you will still reach your goal. And when it comes to spending, it’s the other way around, if I think ‘oh, that’s only €5’ for every little thing, then that can be quite a lot at the end of a trip. I always write down every € I spend on my trips to get an idea of how much the trip has cost me so far. If I’ve budgeted well then I can treat myself to something, if I haven’t budgeted well then I can just eat oatmeal for 3 days I’m now self-employed and can live off my travel blog and online store, instead of working hard and saving up in advance I now travel and work in the meantime.

A day with Jil: adventure or relaxation? Mountains or pool?

FIV: What does a perfect day on vacation look like for you? Are you more of an active person or do you prefer to take it slower? Chilling by the pool or climbing in the mountains? What type of vacation are you?

Jil: I am the active traveler, I love hiking, climbing in the mountains, surfing at the sea & have so many ‘bumblebees in my butt’ that I always want to do something. Of course I also like to lie by the pool or the sea, but that tends to happen between activities.

FIV: What has been your most exciting experience on your travels so far? Was there ever a particularly exciting event or did you perhaps undertake an unusual activity? Paragliding, bungee jumping or something like that?

Jil: I have experienced a lot when traveling but the first activity that comes to my mind is a hike in Hawaii. The Olomana Trail, also called ‘Three Peaks’. A very dangerous hike that gave you an absolute adrenaline rush and was just so much fun, even though you were pushed to your limits.

Germany tour: route, tips & what the country has to offer

FIV: A few months ago, you and your boyfriend went on a tour through Germany. How did you come up with this idea and how did you plan the tour? Was there a fixed route or did you set off spontaneously?

Jil: We’ve already seen so much of the world but not yet our own country. We wanted to change that, so we did a lot of research and looked at everything Germany has to offer. We thought about a route in advance and then drove to the places we had picked out. I sometimes went with my boyfriend, but sometimes with friends too.

FIV: Tell us something about this tour. Which destinations did you head for and which sights did you want to visit? Would you have thought that Germany has such beautiful places to offer?

Jil: I have to admit, I underestimated Germany! I never thought I would see such amazing places in my own country. We went hiking on the Moselle, in the Black Forest and in the Palatinate Forest, we discovered stand-up paddle boarding on Lake Constance, we went swimming in the lake at Eibsee in Bavaria and we couldn’t stop being amazed in Saxon Switzerland. At the age of 25, I made it to the German seaside for the first time

FIV: As you can see in your Instagram feed, you went camping and slept together in the car. What was it like for you to live in such a small space? Would you do it again and recommend it to others?

Jil: It wasn’t a problem for me, you just get to know each other better and bond more. We furnished our car a bit with a topper on which we slept, hung curtains on the windows to darken it a bit and have privacy, and decorated it a bit comfortably. Apart from that, we of course had a gas stove and everything we needed for camping In the beginning or to get out spontaneously, the car is the perfect alternative. In the meantime, we have converted a van, moved in and are traveling through Europe.

Insider tips & goals for the future

FIV: Where was the best place? Do you have an absolute insider tip for us? A special place, a sight or perhaps even a secret route?

Jil: I liked Saxon Switzerland best, the landscape there is really breathtaking and you can go hiking for days and always see something new

FIV: What is your absolute dream destination for the future? You’ve already seen a lot of the world. Is there still a country or perhaps even a specific place that you dream of visiting at some point?

Jil: There’s a lot to be honest, but Namibia, the Philippines, Peru and Sweden are at the top of my list.

The everyday life of a content creator & mom

FIV: Hello dear Carina, we are very happy that the interview works out today. Then we want to start directly. Almost every day starts at 5 o’clock in the morning so that you can get everything done. So we were wondering what your daily routine is like?

CARINA: That’s right, my day often starts very early because I always have a lot on my mind and in order to get everything done and under one roof, I try to get up as early as possible. As soon as the children are out of the house in the morning, our dog Carlos has to be unwound for at least 1 hour so that I can then go about my work in peace and quiet.

In between the work, that is, the creation of content, I try to manage the household in the mornings, which unfortunately only works very rarely. At best, I get a lot done in the 5 hours in the morning, so that I can concentrate fully on the boys in the afternoon. Before I pick up Jonas and Noah from the kindergarten, I take Carlos for another little spin. The boys eat lunch at the kindergarten, but there are still days when they come home with a growling stomach. For this reason, I’m glad that I always cook very large portions in the evening, so that I can always heat up a small portion the next day. So I save myself cooking at lunchtime.

Depending on the weather, we spend the afternoon either outdoors on the playground, at my parents’ house in the garden, at the skate park, in an indoor playground or at home. Since my husband works for a large food company, I often send him the shopping lists and save myself the shopping… My oldest will be 16 in February and is already relatively independent, so here I mainly have to manage the pickup and delivery at the station and often calculate more for dinner, if friends of his are visiting and stay.

If my husband makes it home before 6:30 p.m., then we eat together. In this case, I have already bathed the children in advance and made them ready for bed, so that we can divide the brushing of teeth and reading of stories between us after dinner. Once the children are asleep at 7:00 p.m., I take care of the household chores and, in the best case scenario, my husband Rene takes Carlos out for a short walk. In the evening we like to sit together with a glass of red wine, tell each other about our day and work on our new project. But we also like to sit on the sofa and watch a Netflix series. In bed, before I go to sleep, I write my to-do list for the next day and then my eyes close relatively quickly.

“Somehow I need all these tasks…”

FIV: Wow! But how nice that you can divide some activities between you! Besides your job as a content creator, you’re also a mom to three kids. How do you balance it all?

CARINA: I am actually asked this question very often. Many people can’t imagine it, but somehow I need all these tasks and the hustle and bustle all day long. Rene, for example, was against having a dog for a very long time, because that would mean a lot of work again and I’m already very busy. But in reality I really enjoy this new challenge and Carlos is my sporty balance to my work. I love to plan and organize my days and that makes it a bit easier for me than for others to get everything under one hat.

Carina’s tips for a disciplined life

FIV: Do you have any tips for our readers to become more disciplined?

CARINA: My To Do Lists, which I write down every night before I go to bed, help me. Without my lists, I would honestly be quite lost or let’s say haphazard on the road. Since I have a lot of thoughts going through my head during the day, be it professional or private, I tend to forget a lot without a list. With my list, I also know, for example, what has priority and what can possibly be postponed until tomorrow. I really get a lot more done that way.

Fashion: reduced and thoughtful shopping

FIV: Travel, fashion and family are the main topics of your social media channels. Now we would like to talk to you about fashion and you are a great fashion inspiration for your community. So we asked ourselves: where do you prefer to buy your clothes?

CARINA: The focus is now on reduced and considered shopping, which is not always very easy, especially in my business as a fashion creator. I have to admit that I love shopping. However, I also regularly clean out and part with clothes that I wear too rarely. In the last year I have become aware of many great brands, such as Ayen, dariadeh and Viktoria Luise. There you can find really beautiful and sustainable basics that are timeless and you have a very long time with the clothes.

“I prefer to stay out of the way of fashion trends”.

FIV: Fashion often comes with trends. What is your opinion on fashion trends? Is there a current fashion trend that you can’t understand at all?

CARINA: The last few years I have found more and more my style. My clothes are very simple and timeless and can be combined with everything. I usually skip the trends, because I always notice that I don’t have a long pleasure with these particular pieces. So I prefer to avoid fashion trends and stay true to my basics.

Carina’s favorite: Prada Loafers

FIV: What is your favorite piece of clothing from your closet and why? Maybe you associate a certain time with it?

CARINA: There are honestly sooo many and I can’t even commit to just one. I love my simple blazers, basic tees, jeans, coats and trench coats and all my handbags. But if I had to choose one in a hurry, it would be my Prada Loafers, which have been on my wish list for almost a year. It’s not a piece of clothing, it’s a pair of shoes, but they are incredibly comfortable and were worth every penny. Whether combined with jeans or a dress, they really make a statement.

Family with 3 children, 2 cats & 1 dog

FIV: You and your family also have two cats and a dog. How do the animals get along with each other? Is there another pet coming soon?

CARINA: It is getting better day by day. Our two British Shorthair males were not very enthusiastic about our new dogs at the beginning, but meanwhile all three of them can stay on the same floor without any trouble. If Carlos is too wild or stormy, he is hissed at and then he gives them a wide berth. I would love to have more pets, but unfortunately my husband doesn’t play along anymore. Although, I could persuade him with the last three, maybe it will work another time.

Content Creation: No two days are the same

FIV: Now, last but not least, we’d like to talk about your job as a content creator. What do you love about your job?

CARINA: That I can let off steam creatively and that no day or cooperation is like the other. You learn something new every day, because every job, every trip is different and every client has different ideas about the implementation. It’s so much fun and I love that I outgrow myself every day. You get to meet so many great people and new friendships are always formed because of it. I’m really incredibly grateful every day to be able to do this great job.

Changes in the job in the coming years

FIV: How do you think your job will change in the next few years?

CARINA: I always have my personal goals in mind and think that Instagram and my job will be around for a while. The way we create and deliver content to our community will definitely change a few more times (e.g. LIVE, Reels, IGTV, etc.) The important thing is to stay on the ball and use the tools Instagram offers you and pay attention to what content your community wants.

Kim Hnizdo interview: Her thoughts on model business

Julia’s favorites get under your skin

FIV: Hello dear Julia, we are glad that the interview worked out today. Then we want to start directly with the first question. On your social media channels you always show your tattoos. Which of your tattoos do you like the most? Do you perhaps already have another tattoo in planning?

JULIA: I have a total of 10 small tattoos and I love each one in its own way. But special for me are for example my two tattoos on the right arm, because I have stung in Thailand. Just as the two tattoos (palm & LA), since I have stung these in LA and the hibiscus flower from Ibiza. And of course the name of my dog Abbey!!! I love the idea of getting tattoos done in places that are special to me or have brought a memorable time. For this reason, my next tattoo is already in a few days, because I’m sitting right here in Cape Town and I love this city over everything. It will be the tattoo: 111 which means Trust and Intuition and the second small tattoo I still have to think about, but should have something to do with Cape Town.

Coachella: a vibe or just hype?

FIV: How nice that you can attribute meaning to each tattoo. You were at Coachella this year. Would you like to summarize your experience for us? Is it just hype or is it really worth it?

JULIA: Oh my God!! I still can’t believe I was there. It’s always been a dream of mine and when I watch the videos now, I get goosebumps. I can realize it better in the aftermath than in the moment, because that was so many impressions for me. I think it is EVERYWHERE worth it. I love creating the outfits, of course. You can really let loose without feeling overdressed. There you are not judged, it runs there everything from basic to completely crazy rum.
The positive vibe is just so much to feel and the backdrop alone, which looks like a movie screen by the way, is worth it. I also think it’s mega cool to see so many stars at once!!! Just seeing mega stars this year like Billi Eilish, Harry Styles, The Weekend and many more was so rad! When do you see so people times within 3 days?
Of course, it also makes a lot of difference with whom you are there. And since we were a big group, it was of course a lot of fun!

Fashion: affordable with expensive accessories

FIV: So definitely a vibe. It really makes everyone jealous! Fashion plays a big role for you on your social media channels. Where do you prefer to buy your outfits?

JULIA: Oh yes, that’s right! I have loved fashion since I was a little girl. I’m very variable when it comes to style, so I can’t say the style is exactly mine.
It’s the same for me with the stores. Basically I love it but expensive with affordable to combine, so I love Zara, Bershka, Pull&Bear, Cos, Reserved and really much more haha. Really can’t make up my mind. But I think Zara is already my favorite. … and exactly these outfits I like to combine with designer accessories, such as shoes, bags and glasses.

Accessory Must Haves: Bag & Sunglasses

FIV: Since you’re mentioning expensive accessories, what accessory can’t you leave the house without?

JULIA: Bag and sunglasses!!! Enhances any outfit and is also, I would say times, very practical haha.

Content Creation: Passion as a Profession

FIV: Now we’d like to talk a bit about your job in content creation in general. What do you love about your job as a content creator?

JULIA: I love so much about it and am incredibly grateful to be able to call this passion my job. I still don’t realize that sometimes. Having worked as a model before, I really appreciate how good and open my working relationship is with my management. They are like friends and family and employers at the same time. I didn’t know that before. Also, I think it’s great that brands book you because they like you as a person and character and also appreciate what you present on your channel. I really enjoy living out my passion for fashion and inspiring thousands of people with my lifestyle every day. In addition, through this job you have the opportunity to help others, no matter on what topic related, just as you can draw attention to important things that concern you. I’m incredibly grateful for my community and the positive feedback I receive on a daily basis. I am so happy when I can help someone, inspire or just have a positive thought a day through me and my content. Another very important point is that it gives me the opportunity to experience so many unforgettable moments that I could hardly dream of before. I get to meet so many great people and places that inspire me and move me forward in life as a person. I could list a thousand more things haha, believe me.

Changes of the job in the next years

FIV: How do you think your job will change in the next few years?

JULIA: I think it will all become much more “crass” and professional. Of course, I hope it won’t change for the worse, but I can’t imagine that.
I just think you always have to be open to changing or adapting things.

Social media: Instagram, TikTok or YouTube?

FIV: You are a content creator on various platforms. Which platform do you enjoy the most and why?

JULIA: I’m on Instagram, Tik Tok and YouTube. However, I’m not really active on the last two. Would love to expand both though. I would love to upload vlogs of travels, make up tutorials and cooking videos on YouTube. Have also already practiced a bit and maybe what comes from Cape Town and the safari online.
I currently enjoy Instagram the most, because I’m just in the “game” and I love the combination of pictures, short videos, etc.. I think it’s a mix of aesthetics and yet a lot of personal, I like that!

Favorite travel destinations: LA, Cape Town, Iceland, …

FIV: You’ve traveled a lot because of your job. What has been your favorite destination so far and why?

JULIA: Puhhhh… that is very difficult. I love, as already mentioned with the tattoo, Cape Town, because the city or the environment is just magical for me. It is, I think, one of the most beautiful places I have been to. (Second time here now) LA/Coachella was a dream come true for me, but definitely Iceland as well. When I heard I got to go there with one of my clients, I almost lost it. It was just unbelievable. This nature that I was allowed to see there and as a crowning glory the northern lights, was already something very special.

Julia’s Must “Do and See” Hotspots in South Africa

FIV: From your current favorite travel destination, can you tell us hotspots that our readers should definitely know about?

JULIA: In South Africa, I can definitely recommend going on safari, preferably in Kruger National Park. In Cape Town you have to visit Clifton/Camps Bay and watch the sunset. Hike on Lionshead and drive up Table Mountain. Going to the wine region to eat and drink wine. Horse riding at Long Beach. Visit the Penguin Beach in Simons Town. Visit Cape Point or the Cape of Good Hope. Attend a concert at the Botanical Garden. Drive Chapmans Peak Drive and and and.

Typical Julia: animals, justice & fun

FIV: Last but not least, we’d like to get to know you a little better. What is so typical of Julia?

JULIA: When I ask my family, boyfriends, girlfriends, they always say that I am a very open, positive person and that I infect others with my happy charisma. I am very compassionate and an absolute animal person. I love animals more than anything and I stand up for them. Above all, I stand very much for justice and am a really loyal person because of it. They also said I’m definitely a family man, but in need of harmony hehe. I’m almost always in a good mood, fun and laughter definitely can not be missing, often I also have my 5 minutes / crazy times haha.

The refrigerator of a food content creator

FIV: Hello dear Julia, thank you very much for taking the time for this interview today. Let’s get right into it! One of your passions is cooking. On your social media channels, you share low-calorie recipes that help with weight loss. So we’re interested to know if your fridge is rather full or rather empty as a food content creator?

Julia: Well, in the past it was always overcrowded. I always had super many ideas for new creations when shopping, but since last year I pay more attention to what and especially how much I buy. Meanwhile, I plan my recipes, buy only the ingredients I need for the recipe and should something remain over, I create the follow-up recipe.

Shopping in the supermarket: what should not be missing?

FIV: This way you always use everything and don’t have to throw anything away! Which foods should not be missing from your supermarket shopping?

Julia: Seasonal fruit and vegetables. That’s always the first thing that ends up in my cart. I’m also always on the lookout for new light products. It’s important to make sure that they don’t contain more sugar by reducing the fat. There are a lot of shopping traps, because not everything is light – where it says light on it.

Signature dish: 0 points goulash

FIV: Since you’re just super into food and the cooking involved, we’re interested in what your signature food is?

Julia: In fact, it’s a dish. My famous 0 point goulash. I had done Weight Watchers back then and there were 0 points foods. From these 0 points foods I then cooked myself an indescribably delicious goulash, which has been recooked by my community for years.

Julia’s experience: Weight Watchers

FIV: With Weight Watchers and without exercise you lost a proud 38 kilos, would you like to summarize your experience with Weight Watchers?

Julia: My biggest hurdle to losing weight was that I always had an excuse why the next Monday would be better to start. One night I was googling for experiences on a gastric balloon and came across Weight Watchers in a forum post. In fact, I only knew about it from my grandparents, but decided to attend a “meeting” as a result. Since I didn’t know what was in store for me, I first went shopping for some nice underwear. Unfortunately, with size 52, there is not the nicest selection and I thought I would have to undress there to weigh myself. When I was there it was completely different and I didn’t have to undress either. As a participant you count points instead of calories, which was easier for me to start.
The key to my success, however, was that I was weighed and thus had a certain pressure to deliver. I could no longer postpone my weigh-in days, which ensured that I was disciplined and did not cheat.

FIV: In addition to social media, you are also an author and have written two cookbooks “Happy Fast Food” and “Happy Fast Food Express”. Would you like to introduce your books to us?

Julia: In fact, there are now 4. I sell two as a guide in my weight loss course. When my weight loss journey began, there was one thing I didn’t want to do: go without! But how can you do that if you love fast food and hearty food, and so does your environment? It’s simple! I transformed classic fast food recipes by cleverly substituting foods. This makes them much lower in calories and still suitable for the whole family. So you can lose weight without the feeling of constantly having to do without something.

Book publication: duration 6 months

FIV: Oh Wow! What was the process behind publishing the two cookbooks like? How long does it take you to have your cookbook ready in your hands for the first time?

Julia: In fact, the process takes a good 6 months.

FIV: With the publication of your cookbooks and the recipes you post on social media, you certainly have quite a few recipes piled up. Can you tell us your personal favorite recipe from your cookbooks?

Weight loss course plan B, where plan A did not work out

FIV: They sound very tasty! As you mentioned yourself, besides your even 4 cookbooks, you also have your own weight loss course “Plan B”. What can our readers imagine under it?

Julia: The course is for all those for whom Plan A did not work. I offer exactly what I was missing when I was overweight. I had the knowledge, but I did not get into the permanent implementation or fell too quickly back into old habits. We (a team of several experts) accompany our participants during the weight loss process. In addition, they receive a success box in which everything is inside that is needed to get started. Meal plans, more than 60 simple and quick recipes, documents to collaborate. At the same time, we take care of them in daily exchange rounds, which take place online. There is always a daily topic, such as metabolism, losing weight with family, beliefs and many more. We offer the course at intervals, but in the long term we want to change to a permanent support, because the demand is very high.

Tips for dealing with precipitation

FIV: Let’s get to the last question. In your life you have had to experience a lot of precipitation, yet you never gave up and always kept going. Do you have any tips for our readers on how to better deal with precipitation?

Julia: You just have to imagine a toddler who would just lie down after the first attempt to walk when he falls. There will always be setbacks and setbacks, but in retrospect every setback was also an experience that helped me grow and become better.

Encourager – what is that actually?

FIV: Hello dear Nadine, thank you very much for taking the time for this interview today. Let’s start directly with the first question. On your social media channels, you introduce yourself as an encourager. Can you define for our readers what that actually means?

Nadine: Actually, I just live my life as I like it, previously often smiled at from the side (just on’m village) my clothing style, my hairstyles, my make up … I have always been experimental. What I want to say, I have always remained Nana, only the expectations of us women, especially now at my age, are changing. Not with me, I’m not about being rebellious, I just don’t see why I should change: I exemplify what many do not dare to do.

Afraid of getting older? No!!

FIV: If someone stands by his age, it’s you! Yet you don’t see age as a limit to doing what you want to do. Therefore, we asked ourselves whether you personally have never been afraid of getting older or whether this was also a kind of process for you?

Nadine: I really wasn’t even afraid, we’re all in the same boat.

“Acceptance is the magic word”

FIV: You’re right about that! You make hot flashes sexy and inspire many women to not be afraid of getting older either. What do you think needs to change for the general fear of aging to go away?

Nadine: Acceptance is the magic word. We often compare ourselves and when something or someone is different, we often tend to devalue them. I think we’re on the right track, I’ve already been approached a few times by very young women when I was celebrating in Cologne that they no longer fear getting older because of me or my content.

Tips to accept aging

FIV: That’s great! Do you have any simple tips for our readers to build that acceptance?

Nadine: Yes, I did – just keep doing what you’re doing and don’t overthink, am I still allowed to do that at my age – just DO IT!

“Women wilt with the years…”

FIV: Why do you think this phrase “women wither with age, men become interesting” is so ingrained in our society?

Nadine: Men don’t age better than women, it’s just socially accepted. Man divorces & marries a viiiieeeel younger woman = normal! And we have it for decades in the advertising got conveyed.

The dream of your own show

FIV: Now we would like to know more about you. You expressed the dream that you would like to have your own show. Would you like to tell us a little more about this dream, such as the subject?

Nadine: Exactly, I want to reach more women and give them the courage to stand up for themselves and their dreams, it doesn’t always have to be something big, often it’s little things like going on vacation alone or going to the cinema alone etc.. Courage to do what you just want, without thinking about what others might say or think. What do we have to lose? Friendship with yourself is worth so much more than the talk of others!

Participation in “Big Brother” in 2003

FIV: In 2003 you took part in “Big Brother”. Would you like to summarize your experiences for us?

Nadine: It’s also an experience I’m very proud to have had. At the time, I deliberately discussed only with my closest confidants whether I should do the TV format. I knew there would be plenty of headwind coming my way – there was & that’s exactly why I’m proud that I had the courage to do something, even though I knew there would be trouble coming my way. An unforgettable time inside as well as afterwards outside, which I would not want to miss.

FIV: Fashion is one of your passions. It’s not for nothing that you were Shopping Queen in 2021. You love to dress stylishly, but also extravagantly and provocatively. Where do you prefer to buy your outfits?

Nadine: I LOVE vintage, my winner outfit from Shopping Queen I also bought used. I love things with a story & sexy it may also be – I must always feel 100% comfortable in my clothes and exactly then I love to present myself.

Travel through Europe by van

FIV: Also, you planned to buy a van and travel around Europe by yourself. Which country would be your first destination and why?

Nadine: My first trip will be towards Italy, through Austria, to meet as many spectators as possible – because I’m not traveling alone: in my luggage are all my friends & spectators.

Beginnings: First riding lesson at age 11

FIV: Hello dear Franziska, we are glad that it worked out with the interview today. We are happy to start now. First of all, we would like to talk about your passion for riding and its beginnings. How did you discover riding for yourself?

Franziska: When I was 11 years old, my mother came home from work one day and said that one of her customers was raving about horseback riding. She then arranged a riding lesson for herself, my sister and me. That was when I sat on a horse for the first time and it was incredibly fun.

“Riding is a kind of therapy”

FIV: How nice! In addition, riding also plays a big role on your social media channels. There, your followers can see that your horses bring a smile to your face. What do you personally associate with riding?

Franziska: For me, horses are a kind of therapy. I associate it with peace and quiet, but at the same time with adrenaline, love for the animals and feelings of happiness. There is hardly any other activity where you are so focused on the animal moving underneath you that you don’t have the chance to think about the rest of the world. It’s a great opportunity to switch off and develop together with a living creature and even achieve athletic goals if necessary. This gives me an incredible amount of joy! In addition, riding is much more strenuous than it looks from the outside and keeps me fit in everyday life.

Riding clothes: Riders Deal, Loesdau, …

FIV: It’s really great to hear what’s behind riding for you and what you associate with it. Where do you prefer to buy your riding clothes?

Franziska: Very different. I order a lot online at Riders Deal, where there are always the best deals, and in stationary retail we have Loesdau and Krämer nearby. You can find everything you need there. My favorite brands are PS of Sweden, HV Polo, Eskadron and Equestrian Stockholm.

Everyday in the horse stable – The everyday life

FIV: Also, you can be found every day at the barn with your horse Fleur, so we’re interested to know: what does your daily routine at the barn look like?

Franziska: Fleur always gets an apple, a carrot or a banana from me as a welcome. Then we usually go grazing or for a walk – if the pastures are open, I often put her out again. In the morning she comes with the guide service already on’s paddock or if necessary on the meadow. Then I always take a lot of time to groom her and get her ready for riding or lunging – all accompanied by numerous cuddles, of course. After training I am busy with cleaning up, cleaning hooves & horse & preparing food for the next day. After Fleur has eaten, she is allowed to go out again and just be a horse for a bit or play with her best friend. In between I like to walk Hazel in the woods a bit or help stablemates with taking care of their horses. Sometimes I also ride other horses to learn more about riding myself. Fleur is still very young and I want to become a better rider for her.

Must haves in the stable: dog

FIV: What are your must-haves that always have to go with you when you go to the barn?

Franziska: My dog – if you can call that a must have! Otherwise, I have most things stored in my locker at the stable: cell phone charging cables, dog snacks, warm clothes, outfits for Fleur and everything you need for the care of the horse. My cell phone – although I hardly have reception at the stable – is also always with me to capture special moments for my community.

Mental Health & Diagnosis Borderline

FIV: Now we would like to talk to you about Mental Health. When you were 15 years old, you were diagnosed with borderline. How did you deal with the situation?

Franziska: Note: In the clinic they said I was “developing” BPD – diagnoses are actually only allowed after 21, but the signs were clear. The diagnosis itself did not change much, I was rather glad that it all had a name and was not normal. Otherwise I would have had little hope for a happy life in the future. I went to inpatient and outpatient therapy and always tried to work on myself.

Franziska’s tips regarding Mental Health

FIV: Do you have any tips for our readers on how to improve their own mental health?

Franziska: Do things that make you happy and think long-term. The (short-term) easy way is not always the better way. I have always listened to my heart instead of the voices of reason around me and that has personally led to the best decisions of my life. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have a horse, started my own business, or let a small dog into my life as a college student. I always ask myself: does it make ME happy, or the people around me? At the end of the day, it’s just me alone with myself and having to live with my choices. Not the others. Otherwise, I can only suggest to everyone: Go horseback riding! That is the best therapy for me.

Own book: “What you do not see”.

FIV: Your book “What You Don’t See” will be published in January. Would you like to explain to our readers what your book is about?

Franziska: “What you don’t see” is a non-fiction book about borderline personality disorder and tells my story from birth. So it’s also an autobiography, so to speak. I have suffered many setbacks and had little support in life. Yet here I am, answering these very interview questions. With my book I want to encourage those affected, open the eyes of relatives and offer an exciting, true and above all honest story to all those who actively follow me. I think we have succeeded in doing that!

“What I have experienced, no one believes me”.

FIV: What inspired you to write your own book?

Franziska: In fact, I’ve often thought “no one believes everything I’ve experienced. Or “the whole world should actually know that. The desire to share my story with people had been growing for some time, and when my publisher approached me with the request for this non-fiction book, I didn’t have to think twice. The people inspired me, the therapy, the experiences and in short: life.

After 1st date was certain: we want to travel!

FIV: Hello dear Julie and dear Moritz, how nice that you took the time for this interview. We want to start directly with the beginnings of your incredible journey. When and how was the moment when you both made the decision: “Okay, we leave Germany!”?

Julie & Moritz: Even on our first date seven years ago, we talked about both of us wanting to go traveling after graduation – preferably indefinitely.
Due to Pepper, our Great Dane mongrel, it was out of the question for us to travel permanently by plane. So we had to come up with another plan. Since we have both dreamed forever to travel with a van through Europe at some point, we decided without further ado to buy a van. In April 2019, we moved with our 5-month-old Solly and Pepper into our self-built home on 4 wheels and threw ourselves into the adventure “Vanlife”.

Whatsapp & Instagram are great helpers

FIV: How nice that you both could already talk about common dreams when you met! How did your environment deal with the decision to travel indefinitely?

Julie & Moritz: Our friends and families loved our decision to travel for a longer time. Of course they were sad because Solly was still very young and they would have liked to see him more often, however, the fact that we can pursue our dream has raised understanding. And thanks to Whatsapp, Instagram and co. all our loved ones are always kept up to date.

Bureaucratic hurdles to travel

FIV: Of course, traveling for an indefinite period of time doesn’t work without bureaucracy. How difficult were/are the bureaucratic hurdles?

Julie & Moritz: Here you have to distinguish whether you intend to stay registered in Germany despite the trip or whether you want to deregister. If you intend to deregister from Germany, this is relatively easy as an employee. You go to the registration office and deregister. If you are self-employed and have employees, for example, this should be well thought out in advance and properly planned. This step is definitely more time-consuming from a bureaucratic point of view, but it is also doable. On the whole, the bureaucratic hurdles are manageable.

“What’s the worst-case scenario that could happen?”

FIV: We always hear that people want to travel, even indefinitely, but often don’t dare and are afraid. Do you have any tips for our readers on how to take such a step?

Julie & Moritz: When making such big decisions, it always helps to ask yourself the question, “What’s the worst-case scenario?” Our answer to that was, “Return to Germany and find a job.” Many people don’t dare to live their dream because, on the one hand, they are afraid of change and, on the other hand, they don’t want to give up their supposed security in the form of a property, their job or their environment. Once you realize that the most important people in your life will always stay and that you can find an apartment or a job anywhere else, there are hardly any reasons not to take this step. We believe that it takes a lot of courage to dare something new and unknown and to follow your heart. But if you really want it and this hurdle is crossed, it feels indescribable and there are unlimited possibilities.

Must Haves: family, hand broom, solar system, …

FIV: What are your must-haves that accompany you on your adventures every day and that you could never do without?

Julie & Moritz: Maybe it sounds cheesy, but we have found out for ourselves that it is enough for us to be together as a family. Everything else is a luxury for us.
When it comes to material things, there are a handful of must-haves that we wouldn’t want to do without. These include the hand broom in the van life to sweep out the sand and our solar system on the roof to be able to stand self-sufficient. We are also passionate about photography, a trip without a camera would be unthinkable for us. And our bicycles accompany us everywhere. So we are flexible and get to the most beautiful corners of the earth.

Traveled to 22 countries in four years

FIV: Which destination have you liked the most so far and why?

Julie & Moritz: We have traveled to over 22 countries in the last 4 years and each one has something special for us. If we had to choose, it would definitely be Portugal and Tanzania. Here we simply connect wonderful and formative experiences. These countries have taken our hearts by storm.

Julie & Moritz life in three words

FIV: Wow! In any case, not everyone can say that. Now we have more or less talked about the past. But what is your life like now? Describe it in three words.

Julie & Moritz: Intuitive, organized chaotic, varied.

Future wish: emigrate to Portugal

FIV: And what does the future look like? Do you already have plans for the future?

Julie & Moritz: We have the great desire to emigrate to Portugal and have been intensively searching for the right house or property for 2 years. We want to create a comfortable home to which we like to return during our travels. We also have a few continents and countries on our list that we would like to explore together with our children.

The greatest adventure is THE life

FIV: Those sound like great plans! You’ve seen and experienced a lot on your journey so far. What has been the biggest adventure for you so far?

Julie & Moritz: Our greatest adventure for us is our life, the way we live it. That we pursue our dreams every day, stand up for our values and shape our lives according to our ideas. And our most emotionally formative adventure on our journey was the visit to a Massai village in Tanzania. We were deeply impressed by the people, their way of life and their way of thinking.

Miss life in Germany? No!

FIV: You are living your dream and have said goodbye to your old life. Are there still moments when you think about the past when you miss your old life?

Julie & Moritz: I think “miss” is the wrong word. When we look back on our past, we are simply incredibly proud of everything we have achieved in recent years and how our lives have developed. For us personally it is very important to reflect ourselves and the things in our life regularly, to see how coherent something feels, to change things accordingly and to develop ourselves further. We are grateful for our past and always look positively and interested in the future.

Return to Germany? Never say never!

FIV: Can you imagine returning to Germany in the distant future?

Julie & Moritz: We would never say never. Currently, we enjoy being on the road a lot and traveling to new countries. Nevertheless, we like to spend time with our loved ones in Germany and appreciate our home country very much. But our next stage of life is called Portugal. With the sand between our toes, the sun on our skin and the sea in front of our door, we would like to see our children grow up free and wild.

Dancing: Not only a passion

FIV: Hello dear Enya, thank you very much for taking the time for this interview and how nice that it works out today. Let’s start right away with your passion: dancing. How did you discover dancing for yourself?

Enya: I’ve actually been dancing since I was 3 years old and I always had rhythm in my blood as a baby, my mom always says.

FIV: So dancing has been with you all your life. What kind of music do you like to dance to the most?

Enya: To almost everything, actually. Be it hip hop, dancehall, pop.

FIV: On your social media channels, besides your dance videos, you also post dance collabs and recently you started doing dance collabs with Thekrizzl. Would you like to tell us how that came about?

Enya: I met Krizzl at the Ed Sheeran concert and we were directly on the same wavelength. Especially because we both love and live dancing. She has also become a very good friend for me.

“Challenges connects us people & dancers”.

FIV: Oh, how nice! Since we’re on the topic of dance videos: do you prefer to shoot dance challenges on TikTok or do you prefer to come up with your own choreographies and why?

Enya: It always depends on the day and the mood. I love to do both, but I think challenges connect us as people and dancers. You can even do some of them together, with friends or family.

TikTok Production: Perfectionism & Desperation

FIV: Now we would like to talk about the production of your TikToks. What does the production of a TikTok dance video look like for you, when you come up with a choreography yourself? And how long does the whole process take from your own choreography to the editing of the TikTok?

Enya: Hours… I usually save the dances that I find cool, for example, and try to learn them first. When I have them down reasonably well, I put on something cool and off I go. I pay a lot of attention to quality and sometimes I’m too perfectionistic and sometimes I despair when things don’t work out. But I never give up. I really enjoy it. I can let out all my negative energy while dancing and afterwards I feel so much better.

Biggest challenge: pressure at dance battle

FIV: And fun, of course, is also the most important thing. What has been the biggest challenge you have faced since you started dancing?

Enya: When I was at a dance battle, friends just signed me up there and then I had to dance against someone who was really very good. The pressure was extreme because the moment your part is, you’re the center of attention and you have to deliver. But it was a cool experience.

Enya’s advice for dance beginners: just do it!

FIV: What advice would you give to someone who wants to start dancing? How and where do you start? How do you find your own dance style?

Enya: I always say: just do it! It sounds so simple, but it is. By just doing, you learn best and most importantly you and discover your style.

In this interview, Carmen talks to us about her life as a mom, content creator, businesswoman and author. A child often means some changes in life. FIV: Hello dear Carmen! Thank you very much for taking the time for this interview. Let’s start right away with the first question! You became a mom 2 years ago and your daughter always looks super cute. Where do you prefer to buy clothes for your daughter?

Carmen: I love shopping at Baby Kochs – my mom used to shop there when I was little. But I also always find something at my own baby brand Mamushka, of course, but there are also great things at Smallable, Kyddo and Donsje.

FIV: When you’re out and about with your daughter, certain things have to go in your handbag, of course. What are your current must-haves in your handbag that can’t be missing when you’re out and about as a duo?

Carmen: I always have a little activity bag with me that has little cars, mini books, and creepy-crawly animals, but also wet wipes and snacks – we never get far without snacks.

“Because we parents have superpowers”

FIV: It’s been a good two years since the birth of your daughter. How has your life changed for you personally after the birth?

Carmen: So many things have changed, but I personally have experienced one of the greatest personality developments. Nothing makes you as strong and at the same time as emotional as having your own child – at least I have never experienced it like that. I struggle every day with balancing everything and being a mom, wife, business partner and so much more. In the end, we manage everything somewhere because we parents have superpowers.

Carmen’s tips for moms-to-be

FIV: Do you have any tips for moms-to-be who are looking ahead to the changes with trepidation?

Carmen: The child is new in your life, but you should still try not to always align everything with the child – try to find a common rhythm and also keep your own routines. Of course, only as far as it is possible and you want.

FIV: You’ve also had a few trips as a small family. What are your must-haves for traveling since you’ve been a mom?

Carmen: I love our Joolz Aer travel stroller, the Stokke BedBox, and the entire baybies line – especially the wound cream.

FIV: Now we would like to talk about your own brand Oh April. Would you like to summarize your experience for our readers who would also like to start their own brand?

Carmen: For me, it’s a dream come true to be able to realize myself like this, to create things and try my hand at self-employment. To this day, I grow from the hurdles and never want to stand still.

Book: “My head a universe”

FIV: Besides being a mom, content creator and entrepreneur, you’re also an author. Your book “My Head, a Universe” has inspired and enriched many readers. What inspired you to write your own book?

Carmen: The fact that my universe has already granted me some unimaginable wishes. I was eager to share this secret recipe.

Your book as an audio book recorded by yourself

FIV: Not only did you write your book yourself, of course, but you also recorded it as an audio book yourself. What did this process look like?

Carmen: I recorded the audiobook in a trailer that had been converted into a recording studio. It was unusual to hear your own voice over and over again, but you have to go through that when you record an audio book.

Community has made all these successes possible

FIV: Looking back on your social media career, what has been your personal biggest success so far?

Carmen: It’s still incredible for me to reach so many people every day, to inspire them and make them aware of important content. My community has made all these successes possible, because without them I wouldn’t be where I am today.

The House of Carmushka as Mom Edition

FIV: Last but not least, we would be interested to know if you have any projects coming up this year that you can give us a sneak peek of?

Carmen: This year the focus is mainly on the second issue of the magazine, but of course we are already thinking about next year – here I can share an idea. We had thought about doing The House of Carmushka as a mom edition.

FIV: You’ve also been on vacation all by yourself. Could you summarize your experience for our readers who would also like to travel alone but don’t dare?

Millane: Especially when traveling young alone, it is extremely important to first go to a country where you can feel comfortable and safe. On the other hand, it is important that you go in with the expectation to meet people and not to be lonely, even if it can feel lonely! Just do EVERYTHING you feel like doing and everything you couldn’t do with someone else, you are your own team player!

Process behind own collection with About You

FIV: If there’s one thing you can be associated with, it’s fashion. This year you even launched your own collection together with About You. Could you briefly explain the process behind it for our readers?

Millane: In a nutshell: From a lot of communication, creating styles and new ideas, meetings over meetings, fittings and shootings, promotion phase to the launch, everything is involved. Oh and not to forget the long feedback loops.

“Designing your own Pieces the way I like them”.

FIV: Of course, this is also a long process. What inspired your collection and your pieces?

Millane: In fact, my own passion for fashion, since I was a little kid, I dream of creating my own pieces, the way I like them. Today I have the blessing to be able to realize that and I want to awaken this passion in my buyers.

Outfit inspiration: not who, but what!

FIV: With your Outfit Reels and TikToks, you are a great inspiration in terms of style and clothing. Who inspires you with your outfits?

Millane: It’s not really a question of “who” but rather “what”, I often let myself be guided by my own feeling and trust my eye for aesthetics. But I also often scroll through the social media apps to consciously get inspo.
